“Women are the first victims of war, but only they hold the unique key to peace.” – Julienne Lusenge

The Fund for Congolese Women (FFC) supports women's grassroots organizations through financial and technical assistance. FFC is unique - the only women-led grant-giving NGO in the entire DRC. We provide grants to local women-led organizations that are often in the most remote, difficult to reach areas. Why? We are unshakable believers in local solutions to local issues. We know that the brave women and girls working at the grassroots level have the solutions. We know that when women become agents of change, they benefit, their families benefit, their communities benefit. Since its inception in 2007, FFC has funded more than 386 projects throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo. We support projects focusing on eliminating sexual violence against women, delivering empowerment programs for women and girls, educating women about HIV/AIDS and reproductive health, and advocating for environmental justice and access to resources and land for women. Generous individuals like you make our work possible. Thank you!

🚨 EMERGENCY: Stand with Congolese women fighting Ebola

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared the active Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The crisis is escalating rapidly across highly volatile regions like Ituri and North Kivu, claiming lives, disrupting communities, and creating urgent humanitarian needs. ⚠️ Why this crisis is dangerously different: This specific outbreak is driven by the rare Bundibugyo virus strain . This means there are currently no approved vaccines or specific medical treatments available  to halt its spread. When medical countermeasures do not exist, containment relies entirely on human behavior, community trust, and localized infection prevention. How your individual donation creates immediate impact: The Fonds pour les Femmes Congolaises (FFC)  is bypassing slow-moving global bureaucracies to channel these emergency funds directly to trusted, local women-led grassroots organizations  embedded right in the heart of the hotspots. Your gift will directly operationalize the official national emergency response through three life-saving pillars: 📢 Stopping Dangerous Rumors. 🧼 Critical Hygiene Distribution. 🕊️ Compassionate Support & Surveillance. Every epidemic begins in a community and ends in a community. No gift is too small to protect a frontline caregiver, secure a family, and halt the transmission of this virus at its source. Please stand in solidarity with the women of the DRC. Your support saves lives. 🇨🇩💜

Urgent Appeal for Action in Goma, Eastern DRC

Urgent Appeal for Action in Eastern DRC – Capture of Goma by M23 and Attack on Displacement Camp It is with deep concern that we inform you of the tragic developments in the Eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. On January 27, 2025, Goma, the provincial capital of North Kivu, was captured by M23 rebels, an armed group reportedly supported by Rwanda. This escalation has triggered yet another wave of mass displacement among communities already devastated by years of conflict. Compounding the crisis, a bomb attack on a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) resulted in numerous casualties, primarily affecting women and children. This dire situation has significantly worsened the fragile conditions faced by displaced populations: ● More than 400,000 people have been forced to flee their homes since the start of this year alone. ● Families, already uprooted by past violence, are now fleeing again under deplorable circumstances. ● Survivors of the attack are grappling with severe physical and psychological trauma, with limited access to medical care . ● The displaced lack essential necessities such as clean water, food, shelter, and critical services, while ongoing insecurity hampers humanitarian efforts. ● Sexual violence continues to be weaponized, with women and girls as primary targets. ● A mass prison break has enabled perpetrators of sexual violence and other grave human rights violations to escape, heightening fears for civilian safety. The women, children, and families of Eastern DRC are facing unimaginable suffering. Their resilience is being tested beyond limits. We urge you to join us in extending a lifeline of support and solidarity. Every contribution - small or big, every voice raised, can make a difference.
