World KNOWS HER supports girls in rural and remote communities with information for awareness and resources for prevention of teen pregnancy, unwanted intercourse, pressured marriage, and HIV/AIDS infection so that girls can continue with their education and make informed life decisions.

Girls in East Africa face several challenges that limit their ability to lead self-directed lives. These challenges include pressure for early marriage, pressure to have unwanted sex in exchange for food-shelter-protection, teen pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS, which can all have negative impacts on their health and well-being. Additionally, girls in East Africa often face limitations when it comes to completing their education, which can further limit their opportunities in life.

YTB Global is working with youth leaders in Kisubi, Uganda. They are creating a plan for Resource and Vision Development (RVD) that led to their ideas for World KNOWS HER.

World KNOWS HER has four parts.

1) A network of role models, mentors, and independent women available via a private LinkedIn Group along with others local to Kisubi, Uganda and other locations involved with Youth TimeBanking. The youth leaders have formed a group at their high school to invite a different local woman to talk with them once or twice each month.

2) Health information available through paper brochures, posters, flyers coupled with a social media campaign for World KNOWS HER using digital storytelling and short videos. Information will be shared between a school(s) in the US with the school(s) in Uganda.

3) An international collection of audio interviews that includes youth leaders in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and the USA. We are working towards Social-Digital-Educational Inclusion, especially for girls in SSA through Youth TimeBanking and inspiration from Co-Production. Earning time credits for Learning opportunities: Earning 4 Learning.

4) Virtual gatherings and dialogue of youth in SSA and participating areas of the US: a refugee organization in Tampa, Florida, and schools in Eastern US.

This approach is helping youth, particularly girls, in East Africa, to experience Social-Digital-and-Educational Inclusion for the first time ever in their lives. They and their caregivers are telling us that the girls' confidence is higher and stronger since participating in Youth TimeBanking.
