Conservation
Every year up to a million visitors to San Francisco Zoo are inspired to preserve our natural world. Your donations make that possible and support animal care, education and conservation programs that affect wildlife on a global scale. Open 365 days a year, SF Zoo is home to more than 2,000 exotic, endangered, and rescued animals in 100 acres of majestic and peaceful gardens. We are a community resource for conservation education that has been servicing residents of the Bay Area and beyond since 1929. Housing many critically endangered animals, we are driven to save threatened species and increase their population through responsible breeding programs, rearing initiatives, and reintroduction efforts into native habitats.
