Since 1989, The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) has worked to ensure that our public lands offer fun, challenging and sustainable mountain biking for all mountain bikers. As the leading mountain biking organization in the southeast, we believe everyone should have access to the social, physical, and mental benefits that mountain biking provides.

Through advocacy, education and resource sharing, SORBA and its forty-seven chapters envision a future where mountain biking is at the center of healthy, economically vibrant, and environmentally sustainable communities throughout the Southeast, with well-planned, accessible, and progressive trail systems.

SORBA relies on our generous members to carry out our mission. Our volunteers donate thousands of hours each year to advocate for trail access, raise funds for trail development, build trails, and maintain trails.

SORBA and its Chapters are 501c organizations. SORBA has chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. All contributions are tax deductible.

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based, non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy, based in Quezon City, Philippines.

PAWS also runs an animal shelter for over 300 cats and dogs rescued from cruelty or neglect. There, animals are rehabilitated in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.



There is also a low-cost clinic that provides veterinary services to the indigent community, including spay and neuter (kapon).

SORBA Orlando trails offer everything from family-friendly places to ride, endurance bike races and time trials, skills-building sections, and opportunities to give back to the community.

By partnering with the community SORBA Orlando builds and maintains our local trails. Your support goes directly to materials, work day essentials, and training needed to keep the area rolling in a fun, sustainable and safe environment.

CETI is a nonprofit org applying advanced machine learning and gentle robotics to listen to and translate whale communication. 

Founded in 2020 as a TED Audacious Project, the organization’s science team is made up of the world's leading artificial intelligence and natural language processing experts, marine biologists, cryptographers, linguists, roboticists and underwater acousticians. CETI’s research is taking place off of the island of Dominica in the Caribbean.

In the late 1960s, scientists, including Dr. Roger Payne, a principal advisor of CETI, discovered that whales sing to one another. His recordings, Songs of the Humpback Whale, sparked the “Save the Whales” movement, one of the most successful conservation initiatives in history. The campaign eventually led to the Marine Mammal Protection Act that marked the end of large-scale whaling and saved several whale populations from extinction. 

All this by just hearing the sounds of whales. Imagine what would happen if we could understand them?

WHY WHALES 
Sperm whales specifically share traits strikingly similar to humans. They live in matriarchal and multicultural societies and share dialects and strong multigenerational family bonds. Sperm whales have the largest brains of any species and have higher-level functions such as conscious thought and future planning, as well as speech and feelings of compassion, love, suffering and intuition. Their vocalizations, among the loudest animal sounds on the planet, have a Morse code-like structure that shares the hallmarks of a highly-evolved language. Our understanding of these animals and their dialects is still in its infancy. Only in the last fifteen years have we begun to learn how some of their vocalizations are used for communication.  
WHAT CETI IS DOING
CETI is:
-Developing non-invasive robotics to listen to a population of whales in the Caribbean and put their sounds into context.
-Deploying a “Core Whale Listening System,” an innovative hydrophone array, underwater robotic gliders, custom bioinspired whale tags and other technology to gently study the whales.
-Building on substantial data on the whales’ sounds, social lives, and behavior already obtained by the Dominica Sperm Whale Project. 
-Creating a bespoke, big-data pipeline to examine the recorded data and decode it using advanced machine learning, natural language processing and data science.
-Publishing a series of academic papers beginning with the CETI roadmap.
-Collaborating with the National Geographic Society, including their Exploration Technology Lab, and amplifying the project across National Geographic’s storytelling and education channels.
-Implementing community-based programs like the Dominica Marine Conservation Fellowship, a community-based 10-month multi- module training program for young Dominicans interested in marine science, that was developed in partnership with National Geographic.
-Launching various communications projects to tell CETI’s story including a public interface for the citizen science community, resources for educators and children and arts programs.

IMPACT
Now, for the first time in history, it’s possible to use artificial intelligence to identify and interpret deep structure within animal communication. Using these technologies, CETI is building on the legacy of the “Save the Whales” movement with the goal of having an impact by contributing the following:
Interspecies Communication - A new data set of unprecedented size to the rapidly expanding field of interspecies communication and a roadmap of how humans could translate the communication of any other species
Marine Biology - A substantive contribution to the field of whale research within marine biology that opens gateways for future research initiatives. 
Policy - New information about whales that can bolster policy efforts to protect marine mammals and ocean habitats. Policy advances in this area are crucial as six out of the 13 “great” whale species (the largest whales) are still endangered (World Wildlife Federation). To ensure impact in this area, CETI plans to build out policy campaigns and initiatives. 
Perspective - It is widely endorsed that connectivity with nature can improve mental health. By sharing its journey and findings with the public, CETI hopes to contribute to a feeling of increased wonder and connectedness to whales and the ocean that can inspire action. CETI will build out arts and childrens’ initiatives in support of this impact goal.
Conservation - CETI’s first phase of research is taking place in Dominica in the Caribbean, a region that is one of the world’s greatest centers of diversity. By carrying out its research in partnership with local stakeholders, CETI hopes to contribute to regionally-led research and conservation efforts.

HOW CETI IS SUPPORTING DOMINICA
-CETI’s capacity-building initiative, Dominica Marine Conservation Fellowship is a 10-month, nine module training program for young Dominicans interested in marine science) in partnership with National Geographic.  The program has three 2022/2023 fellows and partnerships with the Dominica National Youth Council, Dominica State College and Dominica’s Ministry of Education. The program’s curriculum (co-created with National Geographic) includes modules on marine science, scientific research/techniques, water and vessel skills and storytelling and leadership among other topics.
-All research and findings by CETI in Dominica are all open-source and will be available for Dominica. The organization’s sailing research vessel (CETI-1), a Rigid Inflatable Boat (CETI-2) and Dominican made boat (CETI-3) are in operation in Dominican waters; these boats along with other CETI equipment will be donated to the local entity at the completion of the project.
-A temporary field station has been established in Dominica and has the capacity to host 10-12 researchers, fellows and students. In the long-term, CETI plans to build a permanent field station in Dominica 
-In 2023, CETI will continue local engagement and presentations with primary and secondary schools, development of video content for use in classrooms, collaborations with local artists and collaborations with local stakeholders such as marine and dive operators, civil society organizations and schools.



Project CETI

An endowment protecting the Los Cedros cloud forest and supporting surrounding communities forever.

Held in the mists of the Ecuadorian Tropical Andes, a scientific station works with local communities to protect a forest known as Los Cedros (“The Cedars”). The station encourages artists, educators, and researchers to connect with and learn from Los Cedros, whose walking palm trees and old growth lift racket-tail hummingbirds and critically endangered brown-headed spider monkeys into the clouds. Decades of interdependent artwork and scientific discovery from the station—including over 100 publications—factored into the 2021 [decision of Ecuador’s highest court](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/dec/02/plan-to-mine-in-ecuador-forest-violate-rights-of-nature-court-rules-aoe) to ban extractive practices in the forest by upholding Los Cedros’ constitutional rights to exist and to thrive.

This ruling set a monumental precedent for worldwide Rights of Nature efforts. Yet mining companies continue to apply pressure to Los Cedros communities and Ecuadorian authorities—and if mining comes to pass in Los Cedros, it will devastate one of the most biodiverse and endemic forests in the world. Home to thousands of wildlife species, Los Cedros spans 6000 hectares of mostly primary forest habitat. There, the threatened spectacled bear builds a tree bed to feast on aguacatillo berries (tiny avocados), and the elusive jaguar has left her tracks on the banks of waterfalls. In the abundant green shadows, undiscovered fungi, insects, and orchids flourish. A glass frog hides his heartbeat under a leaf.

As one of the rare places where humans can still drink directly from cascading rivers, this refuge also protects numerous watersheds crucial to downstream communities. So, the Los Cedros Fund will prove that the station’s approach of sustainably partnering with the cloud forest and surrounding communities is best for Pachamama—all of Mother Earth, including humans—in the long term.

The Los Cedros Fund is growing an endowment for the cloud forest to be financially self-sufficient. Honoring all who’ve protected the forest for decades, the Los Cedros Fund aims to offer this new watershed of perennial support to the forest and surrounding communities to keep artistic, educational, and scientific collaborations flowing.

At Orkestai our community tends to a no-till garden, pastured poultry, does yoga and other movement exercises and enjoys culinary and art projects. During Overwintering, we spend more time the forest, connecting with nature through shelter building, firemaking, wildlife tracking and more. Donations support our programmming, allowing us to provide year-round wholesome opportunities to be in nature, creating and growing in community.

Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the United States with a globally distributed team dedicated to impactful animal advocacy. Our mission is to find and promote the most effective ways to help animals. Advocates for Snake Preservation is a charity committed to changing how people view and treat snakes. Our mission: To use science, education, and advocacy to promote compassionate conservation and coexistence with snakes. As important predators and prey, snakes are an essential part of a vibrant, functioning planet, but negative attitudes about snakes may be the biggest barrier to their conservation. 

We provide solutions to everyday human-snake conflicts that sometimes end badly for people and often prove fatal for snakes. We make snakes more familiar and less scary by busting myths and misconceptions, illustrating lesser-known and appealing behaviors like parental care, and sharing stories of individual snakes to show what they’re really like. Often this information is enough for people to welcome their snake neighbors and appreciate, rather than fear, their encounters. But we also recommend yard and human behavior modifications to reduce human-snake conflicts and make coexistence with venomous snakes safer.

While education and changing attitudes are the heart of our work, we also take action and advocate on urgent issues. Since our founding in 2014, ASP:
•	Changed the international conversation on rattlesnake roundups;
•	Killed the Arizona snake-shooting bill;
•	Ensured conservation would be driven by science rather than fear in Massachusetts;
•	Reached tens of thousands of people online with our multimedia snake stories; and
•	Launched Living With Snakes: safe, sustainable solutions to human-snake conflict.

The International Conservation Fund of Canada (ICFC) was founded in 2007 to support conservation in the tropics and other priority areas in Latin America, Asia and Africa.  Our mission is to conserve the world's irreplaceable biodiversity.  Our work provides striking co-benefits in climate mitigation and adaptation and benefits for local and Indigenous communities (livelihoods, environmental, and social benefits).

ICFC finds opportunities for outstanding conservation returns and partners with capable local conservation organizations.  Our field partners know best what needs doing and how to go about it.  They excel at engaging local communities and government relations.  Our work is science based, and the collective experience of our small staff adds value.

ICFC has the capacity to quickly expand its work to take advantage of excellent opportunities in the more than 30 countries in which we work.  With your help, we can do more. In one of the world’s most important conservation efforts, ICFC works with the Kayapo Indigenous people to protect an area of the Brazilian Amazon larger than almost half the world’s countries.  We conserve large (hundreds/thousands of square kilometers) protected areas in Peru, Costa Rica, Kenya and elsewhere and have participated in land acquisitions for more than a dozen private reserves of high conservation value.  In Cambodia we have shown that marine protected areas can restore fisheries and the marine ecosystem.  We have been instrumental in securing a future for several endangered species; our projects protect hundreds of officially threatened species; and we’re safeguarding important wintering sites of Canada’s shorebirds.

**Why the tropics?**  Tropical nature has astonishing biodiversity—the Amazon alone is home to 7,000 tree species (vs. 180 species indigenous to Canada) and a single rainforest reserve in Peru has more bird species than the entire United States. Tropical forests are crucial for addressing climate change, and they generate rainfall and supply water for agriculture and other human needs.  Coastal ecosystems prevent storm damage and are vital to fisheries.  Canada's migratory species depend on tropical wintering areas.  Yet tropical ecosystems are being lost and degraded (95% of deforestation is happening in the tropics).  Conservation works but it is under-funded.

**AWARDS & RECOGNITION**:  ICFC was the top ranked conservation charity in Canada in the Financial Post’s 2017 charity ratings (the last done by FP); is rated five out of five stars by Charity Intelligence Canada; and was a winner of the Canadian Museum of Nature’s 2020 Nature Inspiration Awards.  Our Mali Elephant Project was awarded the prestigious Equator Prize in 2017 by the United Nations.  Our project in Cambodia received the National Geographic Society’s Marine Protection Prize and is a Mission Blue “Hope Spot”.  Project field personnel have received the Disney Conservation Hero Award, the Whitley Award (two individuals), and the Indianapolis Prize.

There are currently 1500 more chimpanzees in need of rescue and sanctuary in North America and the donations we receive will help us provide sanctuary to more chimpanzees. Spetses Care For Animals is the first veterinary clinic established on the island of Spetses, providing services for stray cats.

The SCFA Veterinary Clinic was established approximately three years ago on the island of Spetses, where there was previously no veterinary clinic or resident veterinarians. Through unwavering dedication and a profound love for animals, we successfully brought both essential components to the island. Our daily efforts are focused on addressing the needs of the substantial stray cat population, estimated to exceed 6500 on the island. This involves performing spaying and neutering procedures, administering vaccinations, conducting deworming treatments, and meticulously recording and maintaining medical statistics related to their health and diseases.

The veterinary clinic, along with the municipality and generous supporters have sponsored the medical care of more that 300 stray animals. SCFA established feeding and housing stations, colloquially referred to as "cat hotels" and "cat restaurants," in each cat colony within the town of Spetses. To date, 900 stray cats have undergone spaying or neutering through these efforts. Additionally, SCFA strategically positioned 18 watering troughs across the island and in wooded areas to provide a vital water supply for wildlife, especially during the scorching summer months.

The SCFA Veterinary Clinic implemented a comprehensive two-year total-care program for carriage horses on the island. This initiative encompassed complimentary registration, microchipping, vaccinations, deworming, and prompt medical attention when required. Additionally, educational seminars were conducted for carriage drivers to enhance their knowledge and understanding. In a bid to prioritize the well-being of these horses, SCFA also installed watering stations at strategic stops, facilitating convenient access to water during their summer work periods.

At the SCFA Veterinary Clinic we warmly welcome school visits as part of our commitment to educating and fostering a compassionate understanding of animals. Our dedicated team ensures that children have the opportunity to explore our facility, gaining insights into the various services we provide for the welfare of animals on the island. Additionally, we take pride in our efforts to extend learning beyond the clinic's walls. Initiatives such as the creation of the first part of the educational fairy tale series, "The Adventures of Xout and Ust," and its distribution to kindergartens and Spetses Primary School, are part of our effort to cultivating a love for animals from an early age. Through engaging and informative experiences like walks with students from Spetses Elementary School, where they actively participate in feeding stray cats, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and empathy towards our furry companions in the hearts of the younger generation.

The Hellenic Wildlife Care Association, H.W.C.A. (ANIMA) is a non-profit association with its main activity being the nursing and rehabilitation of wild animals in their natural environment. It was established in 2005, today being the largest and most prominent organization in Greece for wildlife care and rehabilitation. Each year ANIMA treats about 8,000 wild animals, many of which are rare or endangered, responds to thousands of citizens for issues concerning wildlife, collaborates with authorities, NGOs and stakeholders to address threats to wildlife, and mobilizes hundreds of volunteers. The number of incidents arriving at the organization's First Aid Station is increasing rapidly every year. In 2021, the admissions reached 8,300, and are increased by more than 30% compared to 2020.

Outreach and research in defense of animals.

Animal Ethics provides information and promote debate about issues in animal ethics, sentience, animal interests and speciesism.

Detailed information on the data regarding the situation of nonhuman animals as well as on the arguments to defend animals is not always available, and we intend to provide it to all those who want to help them. In addition, we do outreach work ourselves aimed not at stopping particular ways in which animals are harmed (which other organizations are already addressing), but at achieving a shift in attitudes towards speciesism.

Our work deals with the way nonhuman animals are considered in everyday life, as well as how they are considered in fields that affect human attitudes and activities that are relevant to animals. These include academia, scientific fields, and the law. We look at the way nonhuman animals are impacted by current human activities, and how they might be impacted by future planned or unplanned human activities. This involves not only the ways we might harm them, but also how we might help them even when the cause of their plight is not human action.

The field of animal ethics deals with why we should take nonhuman animals into consideration in our moral decisions, and the ways in which we should. This has tremendously relevant practical consequences. Many people currently have little regard for nonhuman animals. But more often, people do give some consideration to the interests of animals, but still have a discriminatory attitude towards them. We can morally consider someone but still discriminate against them in a way that harms them. We can also discriminate against them in ways that don’t harm them at all, such as by helping some individuals more than we help others, for reasons that are unfair. Animal ethics as a field addresses these questions, and it is our aim to deal with them.

In just nine years, we have gotten over **100 million trees** in the ground through new and established relationships with over 463 planting partners. In 2022 alone, we planted over 52 million trees within 327 planting projects in 74 countries across six regions and have potentially sequestered more than 10 million tons of carbon over the next 20 years. Through these projects, we helped to:

- create 2,438 jobs, 
- support 50,582 farming families, 
- engage over 32,000 volunteers, and 
- restore 97,769 hectares of land. 

One Tree Planted has impacted populations at all levels. On a macro level, One Tree Planted has helped to reduce the adverse effects of carbon emissions, air pollution, and global warming. It has inspired and engaged individuals, schools, foundations, and businesses to take action to combat climate change. It has restored landscapes for economic, social, and environmental well-being. On a micro level, it has supported community development by building and beautifying urban green spaces and improving air and water quality. It has helped underdeveloped communities become resilient and self-sufficient, develop sustainable economies, and provide income, food, and heating to support families. Its action and positive storytelling have inspired many and boosted the sense of community all around the world.

One Tree Planted

Preserve the cave mining elephants and support the local people of Mt Elgon, a massive extinct volcano on the Kenya-Uganda border.

Mount Elgon is a massive extinct volcano on the Kenya-Uganda border in East Africa. It is believed to have risen from the surrounding Africa plains in a period of intense regional volcanic activity 24 million years ago, probably forming the highest mountain in Africa at the time. It is now quiet and has eroded down to 4,321 meters at its highest peak, Wagagai in Uganda. However, at approximately 80 km north to south and 50 km east to west, it is still huge and is said, measured by its footprint, to be the largest free-standing volcano in the world. 

The cultural heritage, landscape and ecology of Mount Elgon are under threat with serious consequences for people both locally and regionally.  This includes Mount Elgon's elephants that go deep underground to mine salt. There are many factors driving this, a key one being deforestation which impacts on the hydrology of the mountain and results in soil erosion, the loss of biodiversity and human-wildlife conflict. This is exacerbated by a fragile economic environment of low security and opportunity. Mount Elgon's people and its rich biodiversity are largely being left behind in comparison with many areas of East Africa. 

The aim of the Mount Elgon Foundation is to seek viable long-term measures that will help mitigate the challenges faced by Mount Elgon. More specifically, it wishes to: 
• reduce human-elephant conflict, protecting people, their livelihoods and the elephants; 
• prevent deforestation and promote reforestation; 
• promote further recording and preservation of local cultural heritage, and 
• provide alternative environmentally and culturally sensitive economic opportunities. 

The Foundation and its trustees currently fund or have funded the East African Wild Life Society - Mount Elgon Elephant Project (EAWLS-MEEP), cultural heritage research and community livelihood / forestry related projects. To date, the projects supported are located on the Kenya side of Mount Elgon. We aim to also fund partners who work in Uganda or who are Kenya-based and collaborate on a trans-boundary basis with others in Uganda.

SPECIES RECOVERY
The EWT has achieved remarkable gains for many species, where downward trends in the local populations of Wattled and Grey Crowned Cranes, Piggersgill’s Frogs, the Amathole Toad, and the Riverine Rabbit have joined the Cheetah as species on a pathway to recovery. Critically Endangered
Wattled Cranes are increasing in number, now estimated at some 320 birds nationally, up 60% from their lowest numbers. The EWT has also helped reverse the decline of Endangered Grey Crowned Cranes, while Blue Crane numbers have increased from an estimated 25,500 birds nationally in 2007 to some 30,000 birds today.
SPACE FOR SPECIES
Through our range expansion work, we have secured and protected safe spaces for multiple species to thrive and we have reintroduced many threatened species back into secure and suitable landscapes. Safe space for African Wild Dogs has increased to over 1.4 million ha throughout southern Africa and their numbers and generic health have followed suit. Safe space for Cheetahs and their numbers have also increased from 217 Cheetahs on 41 reserves in South Africa in 2011, to 470 Cheetahs on 65 reserves covering over two million hectares across southern Africa.

SAFEGUARDING OUR SPECIES
To protect threatened species, we monitor them and work with partners, businesses, landowners, and communities to reduce the threats they face. We are innovating to achieve bigger impacts, as evident in our drone project’s expansion to use drones to mark power lines - reducing bird strikes safely and affordably and monitor Southern Right Whales in a way that wasn’t possible before. We continue to explore the use of eDNA to identify the presence of elusive and potentially extinct species, such as
Van Zyl’s and De Winton’s Golden Moles, so that action can be taken to save the last of their habitats.

Our pioneering Eye in the Sky carcass and wildlife poisoning detection project has already saved thousands of animals from secondary poisoning as a result of its efficient and effective success and our quick response times. The project uses the movements and behavior patterns of GPS-tracked vultures to remotely detect potential poisoning events and respond to these rapidly, alerting rangers on the ground and preventing further loss of wildlife to poisoning. We also contribute to preventing wildlife crime through the deployment of Conservation K9s to detect wildlife contraband and track poachers. These dogs help us to protect species, including rhinos, elephants, and pangolins.

Protec􀆟ng and conserving natural places is one of the most important strategies for comba􀆫ng the effects of
biodiversity loss and climate change. The EWT conserves habitats by reducing habitat loss and improving the
ecological integrity of threatened ecosystems through rehabilita􀆟on, restora􀆟on, and sustainable land
management. Many of the EWT’s programmes are involved in habitat conservation, but two are dedicated to protecting specific habitats.

COLLABORATING FOR CONSERVATION
An effective vehicle for conserving habitats is the formal protection of land through Biodiversity Stewardship. We work with private and community landowners to legally declare their land as protected or help them to manage it sustainably and without damage to sensitive species and ecosystems.
The EWT was instrumental in the development of Biodiversity Stewardship, having facilitated the workshops which led to its establishment, and subsequently, the EWT has declared 185 properties (over 139,000 ha) as protected areas in the last
ten years and is currently in the process of securing a further 130,000 hectares for threatened species conservation across South Africa. This includes proper􀆟es in one of the region’s most important centres of endemism: the Soutpansberg Mountain Range. Easily recognized for our work to safeguard charisma􀆟c species like the Wild Dog and Cheetah, the EWT also played a key role in preventing the extinction of the Brenton Blue Butterfly by establishing a dedicated reserve for this endemic insect.  Other critical habitats have been protected to prevent the extinction of many smaller, lesser-known species, including rep􀆟les, amphibians, butterflies, golden moles, and threatened plants.

CARBON FOR CONSERVATION
After establishing the feasibility of carbon trading in South Africa’s grasslands and recognizing the potential benefits for farmers and grassland and wetland management, the EWT the EWT initiated the first carbon offsetting contracts with private landowners in South Africa, in the Drakensberg.
When landowners agree to conserve and manage their land to allow for the verifiable sequestration of carbon in the soil, the carbon can be converted into carbon credits. Liable ensures, usually big carbon emitters, can purchase up to 10% of their carbon as carbon credits to reduce their tax liability in South Africa. These purchases create a long-term revenue stream for farmers and conservation organizations to support conservation efforts and protect important habitats through improved land-use management.

with nature to thrive in healthy ecosystems that will support us and future genera􀆟ons, our wildlife, and
maintain our rich natural and cultural heritage. Through two of its programmes, the EWT implements
innovative strategies that incorporate the needs of people and the environment to ensure that people
benefit from the more sustainable use of natural resources.
BENEFITTING PEOPLE
CAPACITY FOR CONSERVATION
Working across diverse landscapes such as wetlands,
grasslands, river catchments, savannahs, and mountains, the EWT has embraced the need to support the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people who depend on their local environment, from developing sustainable livelihoods as alternatives to environmentally destructive practices in communities from KwaZulu-Natal to Limpopo, Zambia, and as far as Uganda, to pioneering the implementation of Population, Health and Environment in communities in southern and East Africa to support sustainable communities and empower women. promotes and implements the education of school
learners and builds capacity for conservation and
ecotourism in communities across our project areas.

BIODIVERSITY AND BUSINESS
Recognizing the importance of biodiversity to business, the EWT established the National Biodiversity and Business Network (NBBN) in 2013 to work with innovative businesses to identify and manage the risks and opportunities resulting from their interactions with the natural world. Through its Biodiversity Disclosure Project, the NBBN helps companies to understand, measure, and disclose their biodiversity impacts and policies. The NBBN introduced the world’s first standardized accounting
framework, the Biological Diversity Protocol (BDP), which measures a business’ impact on biodiversity and identifies areas of improvement over time.  The EWT’s targeted conservation work has national and global impacts and our achievements contribute to multiple conservation-related frameworks. These include South Africa’s 2nd National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (2015–2025), and the National Biodiversity Assessment which assess the status of, and identify the biodiversity and ecosystem
management priori􀆟es as well as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. 

Arguably, the EWT’s most important global impact is our work toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed by the United Nations. The SDGs are a universal set of goals, targets, and indicators that UN member states should use to frame their agendas and political policies. Ambitious by nature, they are a government-led endeavor that serves to coordinate actions by United Nations agencies, businesses, non-governmental groups, and any other entities working on specific goals. the goals that the EWT contributes to.

It’s time to take a page from the devil’s playbook and harness it for good.

Education: Presentations and interactive activities can be scheduled for all age groups that focus on waste reduction, responsible waste diversion, and sustainable living tips. 

Litter Stations: Over 50 litter stations are located around Chattanooga, stocked with biodegradable dog waste and litter bags, enabling community members to remove litter while recreating.

Iwokrama Friends - USA supports the rainforest conservation work of the Iwokrama International Centre in Guyana, South America.

Iwokrama Friends USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2004 in the USA to help protect the Iwokrama rainforest. We partner with individuals, foundations, and businesses to help support the Iwokrama International Centre in Guyana, South America – one of the four remaining intact rain forests in the world.

The Iwokrama Forest is a unique reserve of 371,680 hectares (almost 1 million acres) of protected rainforest located in the center of Guyana in South America. It is one of the four remaining intact rainforests in the world. It is home to remarkable biodiversity, mitigates droughts and floods, and supports climate stabilization. The forest also provides food, shelter, timber, and materials for handicrafts and medicines.

The Iwokrama International Centre for Rain Forest Conservation and Development was established in 1996 by a joint agreement between the Government of Guyana and the Commonwealth Secretariat to manage the Iwokrama Forest, a unique reserve of 371,680 hectares of rainforest. Its mission is to promote the conservation and equitable use of tropical rainforests in a manner that will lead to lasting ecological, economic and social benefits to the people of Guyana and to the world in general, by undertaking research, training, and the development and dissemination of technologies.

Earth Friends sees a world of stewards who are moving our planet and its people in every direction of good for all beings. We approach learning about our world through positivity, possibility, and play.

The Earth Friends program empowers young children by providing a foundation of education, love, and understanding for our planet and everything it provides us. Children gain a deeper connection to nature, understand their impact on the world around them, and become empowered to make decisions. Educators receive the materials, resources, and support to positivity impact young children, engage their families, and creative positive impact in their communities.

The Allen Institute for AI (AI2) is a leader in the field of AI, and our mission is to contribute to humanity through high-impact AI research, engineering, and applied technologies. We aim to restore and protect the endangered dry tropical forest and coastal ecosystems of Mesoamerica's Pacific Slope.

Our innovative approach protects biodiversity where people already live. By working with local communities, landowners, and partner organizations, we restore and protect the habitats that form building blocks for wildlife corridors.

We began developing our first corridor in 2005 in Nicaragua’s Paso del Istmo Biological Corridor. In 2018, we began working in El Salvador as well. By strengthening the Paso del Istmo and other corridors across a region-wide network, we will reconnect people and wildlife across western Mesoamerica — with your support.

The regenerative revolution  will be community owned and governed. We explore ethical technologies in regenerative finance. 

We need to reframe collective prosperity, so that it does not rely on a false separation between humans and the biosphere. 

If systems we develop to incentivize planetary regeneration are not (at least in part) owned and governed by the people on the front lines of the climate crisis, then we are just going to repeat the same harms of the past. Without community ownership we are not going to make it.

WHAT'S THE REGEN FOUNDATION?

- As the non-profit arm of the larger Regen Network, the Regen Foundation is in a pivotal role to pilot groundbreaking applied research at the intersection regenerative finance, web3, and climate justice / ethics.

- We believe the climate revolution will be community owned and governed. 

- We serve bioregional communities integrating ecological, economic, and human well-being with both historic as well as emerging decentralized technologies and concepts.

- We believe nature has value, and we reject the belief that the only way for the economy to see this value is through harvest, extraction, and total commodification. We believe financial systems based on verifiable proof of planetary regeneration and ecosystem services will revolutionize how the climate justice movement is funded.

OUR APPROACH

1 - We support climate justice initiatives with DAO technologies, and evolve DAO technologies with the insights and legacies of climate justice initiatives. It’s a reciprocal process. Put another way, we incubate regenerative DAOs.

 2 - We leverage tools related to blockchain and decentralized ownership to channel resources to land based communities, and anchor their stake in a future economy where value and planetary health are fundamentally aligned. 

3 - We don’t solely focus on carbon, rather see it as one of a multitude of forces defining regeneration. 

WE ARE DECENTRALIZED FROM THE GROUND UP

In comparison to traditional climate finance we are  doing this from the bottom up in a web3 native approach. That means: 
- Investors are able to verify and quantify the proof of regeneration (nature positive action) and real world impact.
- The farmers receive funds whose movement is transparent and accountable in every step of the process.
- Scientists co-own and contribute to a pioneering community-owned science and data commons that enables planetary health to be linked to the farmers and community well-being. 
- All the participants co-own and co-govern the network, the protocols and accounting systems.

WHAT WE DO
- The organization’s flaghip program, the enDAOment Protocol, ensures that emerging climate finance systems are co-owned and governed by communities on the front lines of climate change.

 - DAOs are organizations which use blockchains and tools for community governance to steward both living ecosystems, and the data they generate. This is part of the broader initiative to equip and support grassroots regenerative orgs with the resources, tools, and community to leverage web3 for regeneration. 

- We resuscitate regenerative finance with emerging technology, ethical standards, and applied research to achieve persistent and verifiable planetary impact which is actually regenerative.

Across diverse initiatives in 5 continents we explore how DAO’s and web3 can support initiatives like:

- Community Land Trusts 
- Worker Owned Cooperatives
- Community managed agroforestry
- Land back to global first nations
- Artistic research and intervention related ecology, technology, and economy
- The Rights of Nature and Earth Law for non-human personhood
- Prosocial facilitation to address legacies of land-based trauma

WHERE THIS IS ALL GOING.

We think financial systems have the potential to evolve to serve the greater interests of society and the planet. Ecological economics and community owned infrastructure is only getting started. The Regen Foundation harnesses emerging technologies with traditions of socio ecological symbiosis to rewrite what prosperity means in the 21st Century. In the process we bolster existing regenerative initiatives, and inform emerging technologies with those insights.

To accomplish this mission, we actively engage in penguin conservation, we educate the public on threats to penguins, and we conduct scientific research investigations to understand penguin biology and best methods for conservation, three activities that go hand-in-hand to fully understand these amazing species of birds and protect them for all to cherish.

The Port Royal Sound—a tidal inlet of the Atlantic Ocean—is the body of water that defines the Lowcountry of South Carolina, from the beaches of Hilton Head to the salt marshes of Beaufort. The mission of the Port Royal Sound Foundation (PRSF) is to preserve the Port Royal Sound for the environmental, cultural, and economic well-being of our area. PRSF strives to be the leading authority and advocate for the Port Royal Sound, providing and supporting education, research, and conservation initiatives to preserve it. 
PRSF began in 2011 and opened the doors to its FREE Maritime Center museum in 2014. We center our exhibits, events and programs around ecology, art, culture, history, and recreation to ensure meaningful, well-rounded engagement with our community and the Sound. We believe that high-quality educational activities and outdoor experiences should be accessible for all, regardless of limiting circumstances. For this reason, much of what we offer is free or has minimal program fees, and our funding comes largely from generous donors and grants. 
The following is a description of programs that will be supported, in part, by your donation:

Education
•	Maritime Center: a FREE museum housing 50+ exhibits (including live animals, gardens, history, biology, art, and more) that require ongoing updates, care, and maintenance
•	Field Trips: hands-on learning experiences for all grade-levels; agendas and curricula support South Carolina teaching standards; 3,000+ students/year
•	Pluff Mudder Summer Camp: week-long junior naturalist activities and nature experiences for children 6-13 years old, including nature hikes, kayaking, fishing, crafts, microscope activities, games, and more
•	Adult Pluff Mudder Camp: naturalist-led program for adults new to the Lowcountry or who want to learn more about the land, water, and animals of the Port Royal Sound 
•	Junior Naturalist Program: preparing the next generation to love and protect our beautiful waters and be certified as a Junior Naturalist
•	Tuesday Talks/SoundVision Webinar Series: public lectures from local experts in ecology, art, culture, science, photography, fishing, birding, turtle watch, and more
•	Saturday Programs: naturalist-led educational programs for people of all ages, including nature hikes, fishing/crabbing, crafts, reptile meet & greets, and many more
•	Storytime: weekly opportunity for young children to watch the Sound come alive through the pages of a book, paired with a fun activity or animal encounter afterwards
•	STEAM Festival: annual event that showcases the innovation and excitement of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math); 800+ attendees each year

Research
•	Citizen Scientist Program: local community members and organizations assist in the collection and compilation of long-term, widespread water quality data in collaboration with USCB and Clemson Extension Adopt-A-Stream; 75+ volunteers sampling 19 sites across the county
•	State of the Sound Symposium: first annual research symposium in February 2022 that convened 11 area experts from SCDNR and USCB to present what knowledge currently exists about the ecology of the Sound and how future research can help us better understand and preserve it; select recordings can be found at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAv_68a8MqnvXUf6ggGXXkefjMS4__E5E 
•	State of the Sound Report: a comprehensive report that collects and analyzes historical data about water quality and the health of the Sound; currently being written, will be made available to the public and scientists to inform future research

Conservation
•	Annual Recycled Art Contest: 100+ entrants from schools, families, and amateur and professional artists make art displays with litter or items that would be recycled; art is displayed in the Maritime Center and a jury decides winners in multiple categories 
•	Litter pickups: quarterly clean of highway around the Foundation; volunteers average approximately 100 pounds of trash each time; 1,500 bags of litter kept out of the Sound since 2014

While this list is not exhaustive, it gives you an idea of the breadth and depth of our commitment to the health of the Port Royal Sound and its inhabitants. Being a coastal community comes with a lot of perks, as well as a lot of responsibility. Preserving the healthy water and unique wildlife supported by the Sound goes hand-in-hand with preserving the scenery, seafood, art and recreation in which we take pride and that make our home so special. Caring for the Sound is about more than just protecting the environment- it’s about protecting our Lowcountry lifestyle, today and for generations to come.
