Pronatura’s mission is to conserve the flora, fauna, and priority ecosystems of the Yucatán Peninsula, promoting a harmonious development with nature. Operating in Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, our goals include conserving biodiversity, integrating environmental policies, and promoting sustainable practices in economic activities. We focus on various ecosystems, from coastal-marine areas to the Mayan jungle, aiming to protect species like jaguars, sea turtles, birds, and whale sharks, along with their habitats. Our efforts involve developing management methodologies for protected areas, ecological regulations and regional planning tools. We use digital tools (https://satif-ppy.hub.arcgis.com/) to prevent and suppress wildfires, and restore critical habitats like mangroves and coastal dunes. Additionally, we promote sustainable tourism, create geographic information systems, support sustainable rural development and work to advance legal tools for the conservation of private and common-use lands.
