Gen E seeks the evolution towards conscious and transformative practices of socio-economic reality.

The GEN E Foundation, established in 2014 by a group of young professionals in Córdoba, is recognized as an incubator by the National Secretariat of Entrepreneurship and SMEs. Incubating over 80 ventures (with more than 140 entrepreneurs), over 70% of which are women-led, the foundation boasts a survival rate exceeding 60%. Through talks, workshops, training, and simulations, more than 2500 individuals have benefited. The foundation focuses on impact and social economy entrepreneurs, along with entities aiming to stimulate social and environmental impact. Their efforts center around entrepreneurial support programs, fostering alliances, and providing consultancy/project management for companies and institutions.



The mission of the Gen E Foundation is clearly revealed: "to be the seed of a better world by training, accompanying and multiplying sustainable and regenerative entrepreneurship". Our interpretation of sustainability incorporates the concept of "triple impact", merging environmental, social and economic aspects. We always persist in the principle of "leaving no one behind".

The GEN E Foundation has three main lines of action, which are the framework for our recurring activities. Below is a description of each of the axes with past and planned future activities



1-GEN E ACADEMY



GEN E Academy is a unit dedicated to strengthening ventures with a focus on social and environmental impact. Through this unit, we help ventures with a focus on socio-environmental impact to grow. We do this through two distinct but complementary programmes, "Impact Business Incubation" and "Winay - Inclusive Business Space", which target two different beneficiary audiences.



1.A.Impact Business Incubation



Established in 2014, this incubator is dedicated to promoting impact entrepreneurship, emphasizing social and environmental well-being alongside economic development, irrespective of the applicants' vulnerability. The initiative supports change leaders working towards just causes aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Specializing in non-financial support tools and facilitating links to funding sources, the program focuses on developing and strengthening sustainable business models. Recognized by the Córdoba Innovate and Entrepreneur Agency in 2017 and 2021, it was selected to participate in the "Córdoba Incuba Empresas" program. Moreover, the incubator holds official recognition as an incubator from the National Ministry of Production under registration number 390.

To date, the incubator has supported more than 50 ventures through training, mentoring, coaching, networking spaces, support in applying for funding, links with investors, business linkages, among other opportunities offered. The survival rate of the projects supported is slightly above 70%. The incubator has had 8 editions from 2015 to 2023. This year our institution's goal is to promote impact investment. Starting with a program of investment readiness  , made in alliance with 3 impact venture capital. The program will strengthen  entrepreneurs valuation, impact measurement and their pitch to investors. We are also developing our own impact fund, so we can develop an impact accelerator. 



1.B. WINAY - ESPACIO DE NEGOCIOS INCLUSIVOS (WINAY - INCLUSIVE BUSINESS SPACE)



Winay specializes in supporting entrepreneurs in vulnerable contexts by transferring knowledge, experience, and connections from its impact incubator work. The objective is to assist entrepreneurs who share similar values but lack social and economic capital or necessary support due to vulnerability. Leveraging the impact incubator's experience, Winay identifies mentors, coordinates connections, incorporates tutors, and implements monitoring tools.

The program seeks to democratize access to entrepreneurial benefits for those in vulnerable contexts, integrating them into business value chains. It includes a personal strengthening component, addressing spirituality, motivation, life purpose, and physical and mental health monitoring. This component is vital, addressing aspects often overlooked by existing support programs.

Winay aims to serve as an "inclusive business laboratory," connecting social economy entrepreneurs with companies seeking these projects as suppliers. The goal is to improve the survival rate of social economy projects by providing opportunities for links, training, support, empowerment, and resource access for entrepreneurs in their enterprises, cooperatives, and productive units.



First edition Winay (2021-2022): has worked with 100 productive enterprises and organizations, providing them with weekly training in business skills, presentation and social networks, mainly, creating a community and spaces to sell their products. Ten of them received personalized support, and two of these ten became cooperatives, managing to sell their products directly to companies such as Coca-Cola, Quilmes and Hipermercados Libertad.



Second edition Winay (2022-2023): In its latest edition (2022-2023), Winay conducted 47 high-impact training sessions, with 10 in-person and the remainder virtual. Emphasizing digital inclusion, the program provided computers and specific training in IT tools. The total training duration was 90 hours, benefiting nearly 100 ventures. Ten of these received personalized support, including coaching, mentoring, and specialized training. Beyond training, the support involved tailored advice and continuous follow-up, addressing the specific needs of each project.



Third edition Winay (2023-2024): In its third edition, the primary objective of the program is to generate authentic job opportunities. To accomplish this, the focus is on organizations with financial stability that have been operating for over a year and express the intent to grow. The initiative believes that creating an impact, particularly in underprivileged neighborhoods, is accomplished through empowerment and the creation of employment opportunities. Currently in the recruitment stage, the program has received 25 applications and is scheduled to commence in April.

	

2-GEN E CORPORATE



This unit specializes in advising companies, government institutions and organizations seeking to incorporate practices and actions with a focus on social and environmental impact in their projects and business models. Its objective is to promote corporate sustainability, recognising that corporate responsibility goes beyond profitability, encompassing the positive contribution to society and the environment. It offers services such as consultancy in sustainable development, open innovation for impact, agility for impact, support for social impact projects and links with impact communities.

2.A. EQUÁNIME - SOCIAL INCLUSION INITIATIVE OF THE CORDOBA RECTORS' FORUM



Since 2020, the Foundation has been actively involved in supporting the Forum of University Rectors in the Province of Cordoba to conceptualize, design, coordinate, and implement the "Equánime" Platform (https://equanime.ar/). This initiative aims to foster inclusion, enhance employability, and support social economy enterprises in the province. Equánime focuses on providing a comprehensive and accessible catalog of opportunities from various universities, creating communication spaces, increasing visibility, and valuing projects dedicated to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities. It targets individuals facing employment challenges, those without access to formal education in Cordoba, vulnerable populations, and those striving to create jobs in the social economy, ultimately seeking to positively impact diverse segments of the population.

One of the upcoming activities for 2024 involves establishing Connection Centers strategically located throughout the city. These centers will provide access to computers and connectivity, ensuring that a broader audience can benefit from the Equánime platform. Additionally, we are planning more in-person events to enhance the visibility of the opportunities offered by Equánime. 



3- GEN E VENTURES



In 2024, a significant initiative is the launch of Gen E Ventures, a specialized unit for impact fund management. The objective is to facilitate equity financing for impact tech ventures and businesses dedicated to creating jobs in vulnerable sectors. Following the "Impact First" principle, the investment strategy emphasizes supporting bold and scalable ventures aligned with Sustainable Development Goals in Impact Tech, as well as generating income and employment in vulnerable communities for Social Business. Ventures opting for Gen E Ventures not only secure funding but also access the Gen E Academy, offering educational resources and mentoring to amplify the impact of their projects.

3. **Career Development**: Our Shasha Bridge program provides crucial guidance for aspiring professionals

- We've worked with 4,000 young people across 19 African countries, with the majority coming form Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Rwanda and Kenya
- Shasha scholars have gone on to study at top universities worldwide, including the University of Cambridge, University of Rochester, and Yale
- Our goal to reach 50 million youths falls within the context of Africa's booming population projected to grow beyond 2 billion by 2050. We are betting on our youths to build the future of their communities

Focus on programs that bring transformation in the lives of the Un-served.

Project Uday: Successfully ensures education of children mainly girls at our schools in Gautam Budh Nagar Uttar Pradesh India for 12 years now. We started with a school in Village Nithari Noida in 2008 which now has 478 children. In 2021 we set a second school in Sadarpur colony Noida which currently has 450 children. In Sept 2022 we moved to rural Greater Noida and setup our third school at Village Changoli which has 480 children.  Education is provided from class Prep 1 to 8, Tuitions from 9th to 12th and 107 students have cleared class 12 exams.  ( 921 Girls – 65% )

We envision a world where people of color from marginalized and under-served communities are no longer disproportionately impacted by environmental, social and/or economic injustices but are empowered through education, training, professional development, advocacy and outreach to design, develop, establish, implement and sustain high-quality green jobs programs, projects, coops, businesses, organizations and initiatives that equip them and other stakeholders with the power, confidence, skills, resources and influence to make every community across the globe a better place to live work play, pray and learn.

Founded in December 2022, BGJWC is a nonprofit start-up.  2023 was a year of planning and implementation of community-building events to grow BGJWC's capacity and stakeholder network. In 2023, BGJWC obtain its IRS tax-exemption too.   In addition to hosting several web-based community dialogues and podcasts on environmental justice, green coops and green careers, BGJWC worked diligently with community partners to plan the launch of its Offshore Wind Workforce Development Training pilot as part of its Baltimore Green Jobs Academy.  BGJWC has also been working in two neighborhoods in Baltimore to build dialogue around climate change and solar power battery storage issues.  In 2024, BGJWC is set to launch the Offshore Wind Worker Safety Training Pilot via its Baltimore Green Jobs Academy.

Faith in Action coaches and supports disadvantaged and at risk women in Burundi through our holistic faith, family and community centred approach so that they become active, contributing members of their communities. ▪ Utilize Self Help Groups (SHG) made up of 15-20 people (90%are women) ▪ We support the members of SHG in four main areas: ○ Entrepreneurship: business plan development, individual coaching, creation of points of sell, harvest storage and connect them to market for the flow of their product. ○ Solidarity Funding: avail guarantee fund for Finance Institution connection and offer finance management training ○ Family support: birth and mariage registration facilitation, child development and protection, professional skills training and support ○ Life Skills: SRH, leadership skills and group therapy

Barakah Yields is a social impact company whose purpose is to generate opportunities, providing hands-on upskilling programs that will enable our members from overlooked communities to become active agents of the 21st century economy in Mauritania and the Saharan Africa region. 

I started this organization to address a widespread problem that I have witnessed first hand, that is the lack of education opportunities for those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. Nearly 57% of the Mauritanian population lives in multidimensional poverty, and this is exacerbated by the lack of education and employment opportunities for the youth. 

Similar to the broader African population, 60% of Mauritania's the population is less than 25 years old, and an outstanding 44% of those aged between 14 and 35 are neither professionally active, enrolled in school nor in vocational training. The situation is much harder for women who make up more than half of the working-age population in the country of approximately five million people.

As an Entrepreneur Support Organization (ESO), we offer a comprehensive suite of business training, coaching, and incubation services to micro and small businesses in underprivileged communities, including urban slums, rural areas, and refugee camps.

Target beneficiaries:
Our target beneficiaries are the youthful leaders of micro and small businesses from disadvantaged backgrounds in Uganda, including those from low-income families, teenage mothers, and youth in refugee camps and rehabilitation programs. These young entrepreneurs, aged 15 to 35, are passionate about turning their ideas into thriving enterprises that improve their lives and those of their communities.

Programs: 
Kyusa provides comprehensive support to entrepreneurs and businesses through three interlocking programs:

Our programs are centered around three core offerings: Financing, Training & Coaching, and Business Consulting & Research.

Our financing programs are designed to help in-crisis micro and small businesses owned by youth entrepreneurs in low-income communities. We provide access to funding and resources to help these businesses increase their production capacity and achieve sustainable growth.

Our training & coaching program is tailored to the needs of each cohort, with sessions running for 6 to 12 weeks. Cohorts are divided into business and social entrepreneurs, with a hybrid format that includes in-person and virtual sessions. We have also launched an online platform offering self-paced courses to a wider audience.

Business consulting is aimed at growing and medium-sized enterprises, providing personalized business training and coaching in exchange for full consulting fees. This is a part of our earned revenue model, designed to ensure that our services are accessible and impactful.

Program outcomes:
Kyusa's impact has been far-reaching and transformative for the youth and women-led businesses we serve. Over the years, we have provided crucial capacity-building support to over 5,000 young entrepreneurs, who now run a collective 1,800 micro and small enterprises (MSEs), providing vital livelihoods for 3,600 individuals.

Our efforts to foster social entrepreneurship have also yielded remarkable results, with 95 social enterprises established to tackle pressing challenges and serving over 2,500 secondary beneficiaries.

Kyusa's innovative programs and initiatives have created opportunities for growth and expansion. Our business study trips, for instance, have provided exposure and networks that have enabled alumni to engage in cross-border trading, while our micro-grant program has supported 125 vendor businesses to recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our goal is to work with partners to empower curiosity driven discovery and science education for the greater good. Her Initiative breaks the cycle of poverty and fosters financial resilience among adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania.

Our Story, Our Evolution

In 2016, Her Initiative took root, fully blossoming into action in July 2019, propelled by a visionary team led by Lydia Charles Moyo. Her  personal journey as a young woman striving for financial independence fueled the organization's inception. Her own experiences inspired a commitment to seeking solutions not only for herself but for other young women facing similar financial constraints. Today, Her Initiative stands as a testament to a girl who empowers herself to confront social and economic challenges. Lydia's initial motivation stemmed from witnessing her peers drop out of school due to poverty, child marriage, and early pregnancies. In 2012, she rallied fellow high school gi/rls, sparking self-awareness campaigns and events on girls' rights and relevant laws across more than 10 schools in Dar es Salaam. Transitioning to university, Lydia spearheaded entrepreneurship campaigns like Panda events, fostering knowledge on entrepreneurship and facilitating connections with successful industry leaders.

Target group

Our work supports and prioritizes girls and young women and girls with limited economic opportunities in formal and informal labour markets, excluded from productive markets, and with increased economic vulnerability due to marginalization. We primarily work with and support women who are micro-entrepreneurs (often in the informal sector), small-scale producers, workers in the formal and informal sectors, and financially excluded women.

Our Why

Adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania face a distressing reality, trapped in a vicious circle of poverty, limited opportunities, and vulnerability to gender-based violence (GBV).   90% of working women are employed in the informal sector, which offers unstable, poorly paid jobs with little access to social protection. Women are 30% less likely than men to access financial services, making pursuing entrepreneurial ventures difficult due to restricted access to capital, limited business skills, and market challenges. Furthermore, GBV remains a pervasive issue, with 40% of women aged 15-49 having experienced physical violence, and 17% experiencing sexual violence, according to the Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey (2022 TDHS-MIS).

Our Approach

Our approach elevates from breaking barriers to changing behavior, advancing skills, and amplifying voices: Our holistic approach not only breaks down barriers but also fosters behavioral change, advances skills, and amplifies the voices of girls and young women, creating a comprehensive pathway to advancement and resilience.This comprehensive approach integrates 4 components:  skills development, agency empowerment, linkages to opportunities, and the creation of an enabling environment. 

Our Model

At the heart of our programs is the Economic Rights and Justice Program, which includes entrepreneurship and digital inclusion and digital skills training, financial literacy, and mentorship. These initiatives empower participants with the skills and knowledge needed to gain financial independence. To further support this, we build linkages to opportunities through partnerships with financial institutions, including microfinance, facilitating access to loans and grants to start or expand businesses.

Recognizing that economic rights and justice alone is not sufficient for the success of girls and young women, we embed a holistic approach of feminist rights-based education within our model. 

Our IMPACT

At Her Initiative, our impact speaks volumes — directly engaging and uplifting 31823 young women, facilitating the establishment of 210 women-owned businesses, and driving the digitization of business operations for 2,265 women and youth. Through our Panda Digital platform, we've disseminated essential business concepts to over 6000 young minds, unlocking their entrepreneurial potential. 500 adolescent girls were engaged in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership training through Mshiko clubs. 500 parents, 10 teachers, 10 local government officials, and 150 boys engaged to support girl's inclusion in education.

Furthermore, our dedication to nurturing the sector is evident in our support for 18 youth-led non-profit organizations.

Our interventions

1.	Mshiko Club:

Mshiko clubs is a project that aims at setting a road map to financial freedom for girls (14-19) in schools by using a hybrid model of economic empowerment that includes the adoption of good financial behaviors, extracurricular income-generating activities, and girls agency empowerment to promote girl’s self-esteem and self-efficacy that help girls stay and enjoy school.

2.	Panda Digital:

Panda Digital is a Swahili hybrid e-learning platform using a website and AI SMS to empower young women with skills, business support, and social justice. It tackles unemployment by promoting self-employment and has impacted over 7,000 women, bridging the digital gender gap and addressing sextortion. 3.	Panda on The Grounds

Panda on the Ground is a project that aims at planting a seed of financial freedom for women aged 18-35 who have the desire to start businesses through income generation and job creation. The program offers hands-on entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and financial linkages, impacting 210 women who have launched their businesses. 

4.	Digimali

DigiMali comes from the two Swahili words “Digitali na Mjasiliamali” translating to “Digital and Entrepreneur” in English, the project aims to transform and uplift communities through the power of digital literacy and technology. The program intends to boost self-employment by training young entrepreneurs to run sustainable businesses helping them transform traditional businesses into digital enterprises. Since its inception, DigiMali has directly empowered 201 individuals and reached an additional 2,806 through its Training of Trainers (TOT) model. 

5.	Youth Employability Boot Camp

The Youth Employability Boot Camp (YEB) focuses on honing the skills of young graduates, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Through training, mentorship, and placements, we equip youth with essential technical and soft skills, increasing their employability in the job market. 

6. Plan B Project

Plan B project aims to support out of school adolescent girls,unemployed and young mothers aged (15-24) in Tanzania overcoming barriers of gender based violence whilst building their financial resilience through entrepreneurship skills and seed support resources. Since its inception, Plan B has empowered over 300 girls in Kisarawe District, helping 150 of them start businesses and join saving groups. The project has increased advocacy and leadership skills, improved confidence, and raised awareness about gender-based violence within the community.

 7.	FIKIA+

The FIKIA+ Project targets HIV prevention and economic empowerment for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged 15-24 living with HIV (PLHIV). So far, the project has supported 103 AGYW in Nyamagana district, Mwanza region by providing economic empowerment, agency empowerment and comprehensive SRH education to create demand for HIV testing services and retention to treatment services among AGYW PLHIV (15-24) in Tanzania. 

8.	STAWI Lab

The 'Stawi Lab' (Flourish Lab in English) project is at the forefront of an ambitious ecosystem-building initiative, with a singular goal: supporting youth-led organizations dedicated to championing the rights and interests of girls and women. Our approach is multifaceted, weaving together capacity-building, mentorship, and the provision of unrestricted seed grants. In our collective movement, these youth-led organizations passionately advocate for the decolonization of funding, rallying for research, data, and empirical evidence to underpin funding approaches that are not only inclusive but also imbued with deep meaning.

The problem: In Kenya, women are significantly disadvantaged both socially and economically. 

About Buildher The problem: In Kenya, women are significantly disadvantaged both socially and economically. Over half the female population lives below the poverty line ($3.10/day), less than 50% of girls are educated beyond primary school level, and young women in urban areas are more likely to be unemployed than any other group. Meanwhile, Kenya has an alarming lack of skilled designers and construction professionals and booming demand for urban development, particularly housing. This high-potential sector is currently male-dominated, with women representing less than 3% of those it employs. By the end of this century, 40% of the global population will reside in Africa. By 2030, more than half of Africa's population will reside in cities. We are working to ensure that women actively contribute to and benefit from this urban development. Our solution: Buildher recognizes an opportunity in this problem. We designed and deliver an innovative technical training and employment program exclusively for low income earning women that produces semi-skilled artisans and places them with construction industry employers. Our model is designed by women, for women: It enables participants to earn as they learn, significantly increase their earnings, and secure a professional certification that creates opportunities for career growth. Our goal: Buildher will train and empower thousands of Kenyan women through construction. In the process, we will develop a replicable model for gender integration in our industry to deeply impact hundreds of thousands of women across the continent. Buildher equips disadvantaged women in Kenya with accredited construction skills leading to greater financial prosperity, changing male attitudes and promoting gender equality within the construction industry.

Future-Ready Learning for Tomorrow’s Leaders

Chintan’s GenNext program combats child labour and ensures wastepicker children have better futures than their parents in the future. Chintan’s learning centers empower children as resilient and future-ready actors of change. They are given access to education, skilling, nutrition, digital literacy and support with formal school enrollment. It helps children to access quality holistic development to integrate into mainstream education and to build future-ready citizens and leaders, including climate change leadership.

The Decade Project (TDP) has the audacious goal of having American business ownership (firms with one or more employees) reflect the race/ethnicity and gender of America by 2035. By intentionally investing in role models, financial capital accessibility, entrepreneurial upskilling, mentorship and networking, and catalyzing all of our nation’s talent, the U.S. could have over 2 million more sustainable employer firms, 20 million more jobs, 4 times the amount of innovation and a $4 trillion increase in annual GDP.

It’s a disruptive technology for helping people, as evidenced by over three hundred rigorous studies that show its positive impacts on nutrition, education, income, health, and many other outcomes.

We started The Logical Foundation in 2022 after our founder, Michael Simm, realized that the unparalleled power of basic income could change the world. He sought advice from nonprofit and business professionals such as Stuart Turgel, Rodney Houston, Carol Farabee, and Andrew Simm, and passionate community members with lived experience like Gareth Gilsdorf. Together, they designed a system to unleash the disruptive potential of basic income across the nonprofit sector without relying on unpredictable government action.

Our goal is to launch the most cost-effective anti-poverty program ever run in Arizona in 2024, where we will provide basic income to Arizonans experiencing homelessness. We hope to inspire funders to recognize that people in need know what they need, and take on poverty with the only intervention that can forever end it.

The Logical Foundation

We support rural Cambodian communities by creating sustainable livelihoods and providing essential goods and services.

Bareebo: Tuk, Aha, Sahmahtuhpeeup in Khmer stands for Enough: Water, Food, Ability. At Bareebo, we believe people should have access to clean water, healthy food, and opportunities to improve their lives. In rural Cambodia, where Bareebo works, many people lack these essentials.

We work with the farmer cooperative we helped form in 2020, the Thomacheat Prasat Banan Agriculture Cooperative. Together, we are building community-owned and operated enterprises. In 2023-25, we will focus on creating locally sourced and made agricultural products, such as compost and natural fertilizers.
With over 13 years of experience serving our communities, we know some struggle to obtain life’s necessities. The elderly and infirm, people suffering from physical and emotional disabilities and traumas, and children not getting the essentials they need. To these vulnerable human beings, Bareebo provides food, shelter, health services, and whatever else we can.

Founded in 2006, Friendship Luxembourg is the first of the Friendship International entities to come into being (followed by the Netherlands, France, the UK and Belgium).
