Mission:
Working in emerging democracies and post-conflict regions around the world since 1998, Women’s Campaign International (WCI) is a not-for-profit organization that works to equip women to actively participate in public advocacy, market, peacebuilding and political processes. In providing the requisite skills, knowledge, and culturally-sensitive support, we develop leaders globally who transform the lives of everyone they serve.
What makes us uniquely effective? Our method. Working closely with grassroots partners, WCI co-creates programs focused on enhancing the advocacy and leadership skills of women leaders, thereby increasing their ability to effectively participate in conflict mitigation, economic development, political processes, and civil society. WCI's programs are rooted in a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) model through which we build local ecosystems with partners that foster the empowerment of women and girls.
Programmatic foci:
Community Engagement - WCI’s Community Engagement curriculum provides education and training women in leadership, political participation, mobilization, and advocacy. Through our workshops in grassroots organizing and action planning, WCI provides women with the tools they need to meaningfully participate in community development and decision-making processes.
Economic Sustainability - WCI’s Economic Sustainability curriculum equips women with the knowledge to take on larger roles in financial management, understand and access financial resources, and grow their own businesses through education in entrepreneurship and budgeting. WCI partners with financial institutions in order to increase the sustainability of women’s wealth and ensure their inclusion in lasting economic development.
Conflict Transformation - WCI’s Conflict Transformation curriculum, focusing on advocacy, negotiation, and leadership, increases individuals’ ability to mindfully participate in conflict prevention, mitigation, resolution, and peacebuilding efforts. WCI educates communities and individuals about the importance of recognizing the role of women as leaders in peacebuilding processes to create meaningful solutions to interpersonal, societal, and political conflicts.
Regions: WCI has worked in more than 45 countries so far. Most recently, Kenya, Malawi, and Afghanistan. We have ongoing efforts here in Philadelphia, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.
