Founded by Winny Obure, herself a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, the Winny Obure Foundation (WOF) focuses on the empowerment of women and girls for leadership in sexual and reproductive health rights, HIV prevention among adolescents, education, leadership development, and ending sexual and gender-based violence. Among the programs the Winny Obure Foundation leads are Teenseed, the WILD Feminist Network (Women in Leadership and Development), Pads for Progress and the Women's Rescue Center. WOF envisions a society where adolescent girls and young women fulfill their potential to live with dignity / live dignified lives. Therefore, all of its programs are designed to empower adolescent girls and young women politically, socially, culturally, and economically to make informed choices about their lives. The Winny Obure Foundation has a long-term goal of building and operating a safe, high-quality school for young mothers and survivors of sexual violence informed by feminist values and principles. To address the holistic needs of students, the Winny Obure Foundation envisions that the Women's School will include a daycare, breast pumping stations in classrooms, a faculty that is at least 90 percent women and a wellness center. The daily schedule will include time for mothers to be with their children and to attend to their health needs.
