"Discover a place where each and everyone has the time and the opportunity to dream the impossible. That place is the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. This monument was designed and built to present Art in its diverse forms, something no one had imagined yet. From its electrifying opening season in 1913,this theater was meant to be a place of excellence. Our dream is to expand the range of performances, to be bold and modern, to have the means to invite true ambassadors of artistic diversity. We have programs for children to give them the opportunity to experience art while being part of it. We also organize competitions for young artists to have the chance to be mentored and become the great artists they are meant to be. If you wish to help us, choose the membership level that works best for you. Be part of something bigger, something greater, help us build a lasting legacy. Will you join us in this promise of greatness through time? Your support is vital in helping us to continue to provide demanding audiences with Art of the highest quality." Sharing and connecting with the public remain our constant commitment ! With the launch of its new 2021-2022 artistic season, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées sets up committed citizen projects. Faithful to the values of excellence and for living together, these actions aim to perpetuate the place of culture in tomorrow's world to give meaning to everyone's investment, whether it is collective or individual. WELCOME TO THE THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is one of most beautiful theaters in Paris, if not in the world. Located in the Triangle d'Or, on the Avenue Montaigne, one of the finest avenues in Paris, it was built in 1913 by a group of artists: architects Roger Bouvard, Henry van de Velde and Auguste & Gustave Perret, painter and sculptor Antoine Bourdelle, painter Maurice Denis, and glass cutter René Lalique. This theater is one of the best examples of Art Déco in Paris. It was designed to break all the architectural rules of that time and to be bold and modern. As New Yorkers were introduced in February 1913 to the European experimental styles of Fauvism, Cubism and Futurism during the Armory Show, the early days of the theater were marked by the scandal of the first performance of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Both the music and Nijinky's choreography were considered to be equally shocking. The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is a pioneer among the classical music venues to offer a wide range of live performances with a calendar combining recitals, symphony concerts, opera and dance. Together with Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, this institution hosts on its stage the greatest musicians of today: Jonas Kaufmann, Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming, William Christie, Evgeny Kissin, Joyce DiDonato, Yannick Nézet-Séguin... The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées has now also become one of the world's most adventurous opera houses and has been staging an increasing number of co-productions with opera houses worldwide such as Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, the Liceu in Barcelona, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Los Angeles Opera. Alongside performances by established names, this institution has always given young talents a chance to shine. The careers of Philippe Jaroussky, Hélène Grimaud, Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Sabine Devieilhe took off inside these walls. Since 1913, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées has been rising to a challenge few major venues attempt: staging a world-class program of events as a private theater. All this is possible thanks to you! We rely on generous supporters willing to get involved and to help creating thrilling performances. Join us and support extraordinary performances, remarkable artists and inspiring educational programs!
