Did you know that 1.3 million children in Kenya between 10-19 years old struggle with mental health? ChezaCheza has developed a robust dance therapy curriculum built to improve the mental health and well-being of children.

ChezaCheza is a Kenyan not-for-profit founded in 2018, and we are on a mission to create access to safe spaces for children in marginalised communities where dance supports their mental health and well-being.

Through our therapeutic dance sessions, children experience the joy of dancing while flourishing into young adults with strong minds who show up in life with self-esteem and high self-awareness and approach life’s challenges with responsible actions.

Our Why
Children in marginalised communities live in a chronic environment of stress, with high levels of violence, abuse and adversity. 

This is an environment that induces toxic stress, making it difficult for children to regulate their emotions, resulting in impulsive actions and decisions, physical acting out, drug abuse, anxiety, and low self-esteem. ChezaCheza wants to use dance as therapy to combat this.

Community Dance Coaches
We find, train and equip dancers from marginalised communities to become Community-Based Dance Coaches who create safe spaces in their communities and schools.

Through an intensive training program, they gain skills to guide a ChezaCheza session, where they teach children how dance can be a tool for expressing their feelings, releasing stress, and building confidence.

Weekly Dance Sessions
Children receive a child-friendly, fun and culturally appropriate mental health service through weekly therapeutic dance sessions.

Each session incorporates Dance Movement Therapy, Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness Meditation.

2. The Next Stage Initiative: innovation behind and beyond the stage 

In 2021, FEDORA and Opera Europa launched  the Next Stage Initiative  to trigger change and recovery in the opera and dance field as a response to the shock of the pandemic on the sector. This initiative provides financial support and skills development to boost innovation through sustainability, inclusivity, and digital transformation.

The Next Stage Grants financially support projects that help create new industry standards and opportunities. Moreover, through the Next Stage Forums, professional development and trainings will be provided to management and artistic teams to boost knowledge sharing and peer-learning.  The first five recipients of the first edition of the Next Stage Grants were awarded this year. These transformative projects in the fields of opera and dance will drive innovation through sustainability, inclusivity and digital transformation. They involve 13 cultural organisations in 9 countries in Europe and were awarded €250,000, thanks to the support of a private foundation.

Founded in 1950 as London Festival Ballet by the great English Dancers Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin,  English National Ballet  (ENB) has been at the forefront of ballet's growth and evolution ever since. English National Ballet brings world class ballet to the widest possible audience through performances across the UK and on eminent international stages including The Bolshoi Theatre and Palais Garnier. ENB is also leading the way in creative learning and engagement practice, by building innovative partnerships to deliver flagship programmes such as English National Ballet's   Dance for Parkinson's .  and  Ballet Futures: The Pipeline Project .  As a touring company, we have brought several productions to the US and have enjoyed meeting many of our American audiences and supporters.  In 2021 we returned to New York with the full Company for the first time in over 33 years. It was particularly special to do so at the Brooklyn Academy of Music – one of the venues in our first North American tour in 1955. In February 2022 we returned to Chicago with Akram Khan's second full-length production for the company —  Creature . Since 1973, the Prix de Lausanne has successfully worked to promote the art of dance and choreography with the help of donations and grants to support young talented dancers in their pre-professional journey.

As a non-profit foundation, the Prix de Lausanne works year-round beyond the main competition to develop leading and inclusive educational programs with high added value for young dancers, such as the top-rated International Summer Intensive Program, the Partner School Choreographic Project, the Swiss Workshop, or the now famous Young Creation Award. Our international preselection rounds in Latin-America, Asia, and other regions, aims to support young dancers from underprivileged areas while promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the dance world.

A pioneer in innovation, the Prix de Lausanne has developed a digital platform connecting its vast network of schools and companies with its candidates from around the world, allowing them to receive offers of scholarships and apprenticeships through their participation. We are the oldest educational institution for the performing arts in Greece, founded as a non-profit organization in 1871. 

The Athens Conservatoire (greek: Odeion Athinon) is the oldest educational institution for the performing arts in modern Greece, founded as a non-profit organization in 1871, by the "Music and Drama Association "Athens Conservatoire - 1871"
The institution played a significant role in the advancement of music studies in Greece since day one. Some of the most renowned international musical personalities have graduated from or taught at the Athens Conservatoire, including conductor Dimitiris Mitropoulos (NY Philharmonic music director from 1951 to 1958), composers Nikos Skalkottas and Mikis Theodorakis, opera diva Maria Callas, pianists Gina Bachauer and Dimitris Sgouros and many others. Today, apart from continuing to offer to its c.700 music students the full range of classical music studies from the earliest stages to the concert diploma, the Athens Conservatoire is constantly expanding into new areas: thus, the Jazz Music Department includes leading Greek jazz musicians among its teaching staff and has already gained significant momentum, the Centre of Early Music offers new insights into historically informed performance to a growing number of students in collaboration with international institutions such as the Leeds University (UK), while a new program of studies leading to a BMus (Hons) degree in classical music performance is being developed in collaboration with Goldsmiths College, University of London (UK). 

Meanwhile, the first Drama School in Greece, also founded in 1871, has had a pivotal role in the advancement of theatrical studies in the country. Today, the Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire, member of the World Theatre Education Alliance (WTEA) – Beijing, is included among the select few top professional drama schools in Greece, officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture. The school students and its staff regularly stage cutting edge performances and cooperate with leading drama institutions abroad.

The Athens Conservatoire School of Dance, although established in the ‘00s, has been constantly expanding ever since and today features one of the few state-accredited Higher Professional Dance Schools in the country, complementing perfectly the Athens Conservatoire's wide portfolio of performing arts disciplines.

The Athens Conservatoire Centre for Research and Documentation, initially founded in 2015 to rescue from oblivion and decay our institution's extensive historical archives, is currently developing a broad range of research and editorial initiatives such as the preparation and edition of the first ever extensive History of Music in Contemporary Greece. The AC Centre for Research and Documentation participates and regularly contributes to international fora like the IAML (International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres), publishes scientific papers and a magazine, and organizes various exhibitions, such as a major exhibition on the composer Iannis Xenakis in collaboration with the Greek National Museum of Contemporary Art.

Many other major Greek arts organizations such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, the Greek National Opera, the Athens & Epidaurus International Festival, the Onassis Cultural Centre, the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) and many others regularly invite us to participate in leading cultural events.

The Athens Conservatoire iconic building, located in the heart of Athens near the Presidential Palace and the Aristotle Lyceum, is designed by the famous Greek architect Ioannis Despotopoulos (1903-1992) who holds a prominent position within the modernist architectural movement of the 1930s and the Bauhaus School in which he actively participated. His work for the Athens Conservatoire is the only completed part of an ambitious large-scale cultural complex commissioned in 1959 by the then government for Athens. For these reasons, the building is officially designated as a "Modern Architectural Monument" by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Today, this recently renovated building is functioning as a unique and enviable cultural hub for various contemporary artistic and cultural high profile events.

Boulder Dance Coalition is a nonprofit organization focused on providing accessibly priced spaces for dance and movement groups.

The Boulder Dance Coalition (BDC) is a coalition of groups and individuals that are committed to promoting traditional participatory art forms – that is, art forms in which you can join in – such as dance, music, singing, and storytelling.

The majority of the groups deal with participatory dance.

We are a non-profit, tax-exempt, educational organization, incorporated in the state of Colorado in 1989. Our mission is to promote public participation in music, dance and other folk arts on the Front Range of Colorado, to encourage expansion of these activities in the larger community, to develop facilities for these activities, and to provide services for other organizations and individuals that share these goals.  

We also work to develop a sense of community among our group and individual members through interaction and shared activities.  Much of our dance building, The Avalon, has been remodeled and built out by volunteer labor by our dance members.

We currently have three major dance spaces of different sizes and two smaller, less formal spaces.

Estonian Arts Centre (EAC) is the charity associated with KESKUS International Estonian Centre being built in the heart of Toronto, North America's 4th largest city.  EAC promotes development of KESKUS in Toronto in which to further its charitable objects, and these include promotion and support of the arts, multiculturalism, preservation of literary, musical and visual arts and the welfare and education of artists. 

KESKUS will be a dynamic hub showcasing Estonian heritage and promoting Estonian innovation. It will be a vibrant gathering place for Estonians of all generations and backgrounds to connect, celebrate, and share Estonian culture and achievements with each other and the world. It is scheduled to open in the spring of 2025.

P.S. ARTS is dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities. P.S. ARTS is the only organization in Southern and Central California that provides yearlong arts education in dance, music, theater, and visual arts to every child in a school during the regular school day. Without our programs, children in these underfunded school districts would not have access to the arts. 

P.S. ARTS also coordinates with school administrators and parent groups to provide community outreach services designed to increase the community’s capacity to advocate for educational equity and to provide critical cultural experiences for the entire family. 

P.S. ARTS programs help level the educational playing field by teaching creative and cognitive skills to students struggling to overcome economic, ability, or literacy barriers that will better equip them to be competitive and successful people. Studies show the arts keep children motivated and engaged, and with the high school dropout rate in Los Angeles County as high as 50% in recent years, the children in our community need the arts!

We are developing the dancers and leaders of tomorrow by offering young people, who reflect the rich diversity of our city, a world class dance education and enrichment that encompasses a wide variety of genres of movement and choreography, alongside an excellent academic education in collaboration with the NYC Department of Education.

ACMS offers opportunities to learn the joys of music for all ages and skill levels. 

The Armstrong Community Music School was founded on the principle that a high-quality music education should be available to everyone, regardless of circumstances. At ACMS you might see a small child attending an Early Childhood Music class while across the hall a grandparent goes to her first ever violin lesson. For 20 years, ACMS has provided Central Texans of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to express themselves through joyful music-making.

In conjunction with the excellent music instruction provided in-house, ACMS partners with local organizations to offer free programming for a wide variety of populations. Collectively these programs are known as the Harmony Initiative. Each program in the Harmony Initiative is designed by faculty and staff to meet the intellectual and situational needs of the communities they serve, positively impacting the lives of underserved populations with the power of music. These partnership programs include:

All Harmony Initiative endeavors share the goal of supporting health and well-being and are tailored to the needs of their populations. Studies indicate that sharing their stories can help veterans cope with post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and depression, and that arts engagement can aid in suicide prevention. Research has continued to show the developmental benefits of music education. Nevertheless, the decline in arts education is most drastic for underserved minorities. Road Recovery Foundation

Animals 4 Healing is a nonprofit organization focused on mental health and crisis intervention. It is based in Kaysville, UT. It received its nonprofit status in 2017.

Mission and Statement of Purpose 
Animals 4 Healing is a 501(c)3 community mental health clinic for children, adolescents, adults, veterans, and their families who have experienced a trauma. We define trauma as physical and sexual violence, neglect, community-based violence, extreme poverty, loss of a parent or primary caretaker, natural disaster, childhood abuse, human trafficking, car accident, burn, combat, amputation, bullying, surgery, or anything that has caused a person to have posttraumatic stress disorder like symptoms. 
We follow a person-centered approach and draft each person’s treatment plan to reflect that no two patients are alike. We also follow a family centered approach and treat the entire family affected by the trauma. 
The mission of Animals 4 Healing is to help individuals and their families achieve balance and presence by connecting their body, mind, heart, and spirit.  Using therapeutic techniques that integrate the mutually beneficial relationship of animals, nature, music, and movement with evidence-based practices.

Animals 4 Healing’s charitable purposes are to:
1.	Help those populations struggling with trauma and co-occurring mental health disorders. 
2.	Provide free or discounted treatment for the patients who cannot afford treatment
3.	Conduct experiential therapies, (e.g. canine-assisted, equine-assisted, therapeutic horseback riding, horticulture, nature, gardening, music, dance, yoga, drama, play, art, etc.) in combination with evidenced based practices for trauma
4.	Provide animals, resources, and facilities for use in animal-assisted therapy
5.	Advocate for benefits of new therapy techniques, and educate and train professionals and others about new therapy techniques
6.	Conduct scientific research and develop best practices for new therapy techniques.

Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation (Amoyo) is a Cape Town based educational and developmental non-profit, founded in 2015 that offers an effective, scalable and replicable after-school and holiday performing arts programme that is age-appropriate.  Our core mission is for each beneficiary to transition from Amoyo as success driven, integral and foremost employable young people who have acquired core values, life and communication skills that seems to lack in most of our impoverished youth. Since our founding, we have successfully enrolled and trained more than 300 young people (aged 5 – 19) from poor communities into our project through the generous financial support of our co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kim Conley, a private fund loan, National Lotteries Commission of South Africa and other donors and sponsors. In November 2017, Amoyo won a ministerial award from South Africa's Department of Social Development for Excellence in Youth Development.  Our long-term goal is to have a 4-6 studio facility with a dedicated kitchen and dining area, tutor centre, computer room, counseling room and suitable bathroom and changing facilities and a small bus so that we can bring more children from outer lying areas to also benefit.

Employment in any division of the performing arts and entertainment industry is unpredictable. Work is erratic, security is fleeting and health insurance is often just a dream. For all of these reasons and many more, The Actors Fund is an indispensable and deeply significant part of the entire entertainment community.

As a national organization with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, we directly serve thousands of performing arts and entertainment professionals across the country every year, in person and via our online resources. Vashon Events is a dedicated to building community and supporting artists-musicians on Vashon Island, WA. 

Our mission is to create, provide, and expand positive life experiences through music and art for all. We provide an information hub for Vashon Island including a business directory, information about events and classes happening on the island, and programs that support arts and local music. We believe that keeping Vashon Island vibrant means supporting our local businesses and artists.

Our programming provides critical and unique support for artists and musicians. We also produce concerts and other performing arts events at festivals, showcases, concerts in the park, and venues all over the island. We believe the arts should be accessible to everyone, therefore all our events are free or low-cost. At the same time, at every event we provide, we ensure that musicians and other performers are fairly compensated.

We support local musicians and artists by providing programs and services dedicated to helping them succeed in making their art. 

Music Instrument Library - Vashon Events’ musical instrument lending library provides free access to musical instruments for children and adults. We loan amplifiers, cords, tuners, and other accessories needed to make music.

Music Teacher Directory - Vashon Events’ Music Teacher Director provides a portal for information about local music teachers so students of all ages can learn to play music on a range of instruments.

ISMP increases access to sports and music education for kids in shelters, schools, and underserved communities all over the world.

ISMP works with some of the most vulnerable individuals in the world. In underserved schools, shelters, and refugee camps, children and their families are facing profound mental and emotional trauma. Beyond a general lack of funding for children’s programs, many individuals we serve also suffer as victims of human trafficking, abuse, and other atrocities. 

The positive impact that comes from a child participating in a sport or music activity that they are passionate about is vast and well-documented. Outcomes include the opportunity for kids to have a fun and constructive use of their time, to make friends and be mentored, to learn how to handle the emotions of winning and losing in a safe space, and the positive effects it has on physical and mental health. It also serves as a welcome distraction from the extreme challenges children are facing, and comfort to parents who are not able to provide these opportunities to their children without support. 

We are narrowing the resource gap to ensure that kids, particularly those in vulnerable communities, have access to people and activities that will make them feel supported, comfortable, and fulfilled. Through sports and music programs, children can find relief, expression, and joy.

Chapman Cultural Center is more than just a destination. As a Local Arts Agency, our organization provides major funding and support for many of Spartanburg’s arts and cultural organizations. Our educational programs serve more than 40,000 public and private school students throughout Spartanburg County (SC), with residencies by professional artists in the disciplines of music, dance, visual arts, literature, media, theatre, and crafts. We are the creative cog of Spartanburg's Arts & Cultural community. We let Spartanburg's professional arts organizations run the show while we provide the financial support to ensure they succeed.

ARTNOIR is a female-majority and black + brown owned, NYC-based global collective and 501(c)(3) with a mission to celebrate and highlight the work of creatives of color while catalyzing cultural equity across the arts and culture industries. 

We seek to empower artists, enthusiasts, curators, forward-thinking organizations, storytellers, designers, and patrons to explore alternative perspectives to the traditional arts narrative while leveraging the intersectionality of art and culture to develop new access points for discussion, exploration, and collaboration.

Over the last 10 years, we have worked with artists, organizations, brands, and collectors around the world, including Hank Willis Thomas, Derrick Adams, Nina Chanel Abney, Mickalene Thomas, Kehinde Wiley, Harvard University, Airbnb, Google, UBS, Sotheby’s,  The New Museum, Coca Cola, KITH, and Essence to name a few. We have been featured in press outlets such as CULTURED, Artsy, Complex, and Black Enterprise. 

We were listed in ARTnews's “The Deciders” issue in 2021 as an institution currently contributing to the cultural conversation in a pointed way. 

ARTNOIR has cultivated a global community of over 30,000 people actively working to change the paradigm of the global arts and culture ecosystems while creating forums for all creatives of color and communities of color to thrive and succeed. 

The ARTNOIR Jar of Love Fund is intended to provide relief for artists, curators, and cultural producers of color. The Jar of Love Fund has distributed over $100,000 USD and was first launched in 2020 in response to the unprecedented times of uncertainty, unrest, and the subsequent adverse impact on our community.  

As an organization based on the foundation of community first, we want to do our part to provide love and care for artists, curators, and cultural producers of color when they need it most.

Teaching teens to relentlessly fight for positive social change through practical application of the performing arts since 1999.

A BRIEF HISTORY & MISSION
Developing Artists (DA) teaches undervalued teens to relentlessly fight for positive social change through practical application of the performing arts.  We help diverse students to proclaim themselves as artists and activists, to find their place and their connection in their community, and to bring about positive social change through participation in the arts. 

DA offers rigorous theater education to underserved high school students (aged 13-19) in the New York City metropolitan area and produces REBEL VERSES Youth Arts Festival. Our goal is to provide young people with professional performing arts training that will equip them with valuable artistic and life skills, and the confidence to take action in their lives. 
DA was founded in 1999 with a simple act of protest against youth discrimination. Following Artistic Director Jill DeArmon's experiences teaching performing arts in NYC public schools and established studios, she was astonished by the lack of freedom students were given to create and empower and felt they were censored rather than amplified and trusted. While teaching at one of these institutions, she was threatened to either stay and stick to the status quo or be fired. Jill told her class that she was leaving, because she could not accept ageism towards her students. Every student decided to follow her out and the first DA Ensemble was born. In collaboration with the ensemble, Jill offered classes where teens could be heard, with support to create original work that tackles important social issues. She committed to empowering students through art by giving them practical tools to express themselves and learn to collaborate.

THE NEED OR PROBLEM WE WORK TO ADDRESS 
We impact students by creating a forum to navigate life's increasing challenges (e.g. age discrimination, social injustices, gender inequality, institutional racism, economic disparity, sexism); to use their voice in dealing with these issues; and channel that energy into self-expression and self-confidence. DA has a track record of engaging positively with those who face significant barriers in their daily lives. 

Developing Artists serves students aged 13 to 19 from all five boroughs of New York. 35% of our students identify as Latinx, 40% as African American, 20% as Caucasian, and 5% as Asian/other. Most of our students face socio-economic challenges; many experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse. We are committed to invite and include all of these young artists so their voices can be heard, their lives healed and their lifetime trajectory changed. 

We can confidently say that participation in our programs has a life-changing long-term impact on the young people we serve – 95% of whom go onto college. We know that our students subsequently utilize their arts training in their careers in a variety of different ways – as professional artists, writers, producers, drama therapists, etc. In our recent past, we helped DA students get into notable high school and college performing arts programs, and some have gone on to study at prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, New School, Royal Conservatory of Scotland, Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts, Fordham University, Rutgers University, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, AMDA, Elon College and Yale Drama.

In the past, we charged for classes while providing full or partial scholarships for students in need (about 85% of students received a full or partial scholarship). In 2018, Developing Artists began making all classes 100% FREE so that we could abolish this financial barrier once and for all, and serve those students who were overlooked by so many other programs.

As emphasized in our mission, equity, access and inclusion are some of our primary objectives.  The last three years also helped solidify the identity of DA: Our ensemble engages with individuals on the frontline of important social issues then utilizing various performing arts, we bring to light these issues to a broader audience as we seek allies along the way to impact positive social change. Developing Artists was tapped to perform in numerous events including: We Rise: A Celebration of Resistance at the Delacorte Theatre (Public Forum in Collaboration with Resistance Revival Chorus), New York Women’s Foundations Celebrating Women Breakfast 2019, City Hall rally hosted by New York 4 Culture and Art to protest the proposed 6 millions dollar cut in cultural and arts funding. Developing Artists’ trajectory is leading us to connect and work with many social justice organizations for our future projects. 

Through the years, DA has directly served over 3,000 students and thousands of audience members. DA fostered a community of diverse artist citizens and maintains ongoing connections with our alumni network, some of which return as Teaching Artists. One alumnus, Julian Elijah Martinez, recently made his Broadway debut in NETWORK starring Bryan Cranston and was one of the stars of WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA on Hulu. Another alumna, Jessica Asch, Program Creator and Lead Clinician at Shine MSD, Inc, became a licensed arts and drama therapist whose work with at-risk youth has included developing and implementing a creative arts therapy program around collective healing in Parkland, Florida.

REBEL VERSES Youth Arts Festival
Founded in 2001, REBEL VERSES is a 2-week festival of performances by some of the best youth companies in NYC & beyond. This festival was born out of the dire need here in New York City for new voices in theater.  It is a journey into the unapologetic, unrelenting creativity of the next generation. Since the festival’s inception, REBEL VERSES has provided youth companies with the opportunity to collaborate and network with their peers and prominent artists, encouraging the development of new works in theater through this two-week event.  In 2017, Developing Artists began a partnership with the notable Vineyard Theatre to co-produce REBEL VERSES. The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th) hosts RV at its 132-seat off-Broadway venue and provides technical, management, audience development and promotional support, resulting in increased visibility, participation and audiences for REBEL VERSES.

Whether they are autistic, schizophrenic, bipolar, depressive, paranoid, or living with Down's syndrome, people's hopes and dreams are the same as our own, i.e., to have friends and hobbies, to be appreciated for their talents, to learn a job, and to be a full member of society Numerous organisations already exist that are trying to respond to these hopes, and they are doing a remarkable job. Our goal, is to offer financial aid, and to productively collaborate with existing groups in the quest for new ideas and knowledge. The arts are one of our principal areas of activity. We believe that an individual actively engaging in creativity benefits enormously when exposed to art and this many prove a great antidote to inner solitude. A performance of the comic opera 'The Lovers in Seville' during the 'Festival du Futur Composé 2012', with actress Lorie Baghdassarian, 'La Armenia', and some of the singers from the AL choir of young autists and their caregivers, conducted by Catherine Boni.

The OGRCC promotes a sense of community by providing recreational, athletic, educational and social programs.

Celebrating over 75 years of providing programs and events to the Greenwich community, the OGRCC has increased its membership from 30 members in 1943 to over 1,800 today and expanded its programming from the original three programs to a wide variety of social, educational and athletic programs – thanks to strong leadership and an engaged Board of Directors. WELCOME TO THE THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is one of most beautiful theaters in Paris, if not in the world. Located in the Triangle d'Or, on the Avenue Montaigne, one of the finest avenues in Paris, it was built in 1913 by a group of artists: architects Roger Bouvard, Henry van de Velde and Auguste & Gustave Perret, painter and sculptor Antoine Bourdelle, painter Maurice Denis, and glass cutter René Lalique.  This theater is one of the best examples of Art Déco in Paris. It was designed to break all the architectural rules of that time and to be bold and modern. As New Yorkers were introduced in February 1913 to the European experimental styles of Fauvism, Cubism and Futurism during the Armory Show, the early days of the theater were marked by the scandal of the first performance of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Both the music and Nijinky's choreography were considered to be equally shocking. The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is a pioneer among the classical music venues to offer a wide range of live performances with a calendar combining recitals, symphony concerts, opera and dance. Together with Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, this institution hosts on its stage the greatest musicians of today: Jonas Kaufmann, Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming, William Christie, Evgeny Kissin, Joyce DiDonato, Yannick Nézet-Séguin... The relationship between movement and music is essential to De Keersmaeker's concept of dance.

The art of dance as an act of writing movements in space and time 
 
Rosas is the company of the choreographer and dancer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. It was founded in 1983 during the creation of the piece Rosas danst Rosas. Since her debut in 1982 with Fase, Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich, De Keersmaeker has been engaged in a rigorous exploration and articulation of movement, from its simplest forms to its most complex. The relationship between movement and music is essential to De Keersmaeker's concept of dance. Rosas has expanded the art of dance as an act of writing movements in space and time, and has over the years explored choreography in partnership with other compositional forces, namely music, geometry, the visual arts, and language. De Keersmaeker's engagement of these disciplines has involved collaborations with experts — musicians, composers, visual artists, actors, writers — who have at different times been integral participants and performers in Rosas productions. Concurrently with the creation of new pieces, Rosas continues to perform and teach the existing repertoire, which now spans a period of 30 years. In this way the company's own artistic past continues to be passed on to new generations of dancers and audiences. Ever since De Keersmaeker's early works began to gain international attention, Rosas has built a strong and vital presence in the dance world, engaging theaters, repertoire companies, opera houses, festivals, workplaces, exhibition spaces, and educational platforms. With the partnership and support of the De Munt/La Monnaie opera house, where Rosas was in residency from 1992 to 2007, and Kaaitheater, Rosas has had a consistent home onstage in Brussels, and has worked with those organizations to foster such projects as P.A.R.T.S., Bal Moderne, and WorkSpaceBrussels. These projects, made possible and propelled with the support of Rosas, have since their inception developed into entirely independent organizations, making space for new in-house projects at Rosas such as Dancingkids and RondOmDans. The Rosas facilities in Brussels are a center of myriad artistic activities and resources in the performing arts. At present the campus is shared with P.A.R.T.S. and the contemporary music ensemble Ictus, and studios are also made available to WorkSpaceBrussels, the summer residents of Summer Studios, and the numerous companies and artists who come to work here. The site is one of the key places in Brussels where established and emerging performing artists can meet and interact in mutually enriching encounters.

HIFA is a 6-day annual festival and workshop programme that showcases the very best of local, regional and international arts and culture in a comprehensive festival programme of theatre,dance, music, circus, street performance, fashion, spoken word and visual arts. HIFA has come to be seen as an important symbol of something positive about Zimbabwe, unifying socially and culturally disparate groups of Zimbabweans at a time of ideological conflict and political uncertainty bringing huge audiences together to celebrate something positive – the healing and constructive capacity of the arts. Since its inception in 1999, the Festival has received recognition for its support of arts and culture in Zimbabwe and is seen as a major contributor to development in this area. HIFA is now the largest cultural event in Zimbabwe and among the eight major festivals in Africa.

No Easy Props, Inc is a 501c3 status organization committed to preserving Hip-Hop culture by providing quality Hip-Hop cultural dance, art, and music education, enrichment and entertainment for young people through engaging programs, workshops, performances, and cultural events throughout the communities of Los Angeles and Denver. The goal is to provide a platform in which to educate and cultivate skills of dance, art, and music amongst multiple generations, to engage youth and co-partner with BIPOC communities on their own terms, to work for equity, help cultivate self-esteem, awareness and community
stewardship, plus appreciation for diversity, all the while having fun!

No Easy Props vision is to carry on the tradition of Hip-Hop culture by making it accessible [to at risk youth, women, young adults and families], taught by actual practitioner's of Hip-Hop who are multi-generational with lived + applied knowledge of Hip-Hop culture to empower youth, women, and young adults from low socioeconomic communities in Los Angeles and Denver.

No Easy Props is an organization that is committed to the inclusiveness of minorities, underserved youth and women in marginalized communities who face hardship and are at risk. Hip-Hop is a culture that evolved out of the forgotten ghettos created for an by black and brown communities due to socioeconomic stratification. We are dedicated to assist these communities through the cultural arts of Hip-Hop to achieve a sense of worth, develop artistry, cultivate physical, emotional, and mental skills to enrich life.

The main offerings of No Easy Props are HipHop101 after school dance & art program, ICY (Inner City Youth) Dance League, Fortify Our Rebel Youth apprentice & mentor program, Bboy Bgirl Summit annual event in Los Angeles & Queenz of Hip-Hop classes, workshops and annual symposium for women in Denver.

No Easy Props also supports collaborative partnerships with individuals, movements, and organizations whose mission is to service youth and the community through the Hip-Hop arts such as IPR Healing Artz in South Central Los Angeles, Kaos Network in Leimert Park, The Graff Lab in Pico Union area of Los Angeles, the Colorado based Bboy Factory and Queenz of Hip-Hop, nation movements and organizations including United Hip-Hop Vanguard and Hip-Hop Congress, as well as supportive resources to document and publicize Hip-Hop culture. No Easy Props provides all programs and events at no cost to the youth, young adults, and families we serve.

Currently our primary programs are HipHop101 during and after school dance and art program for school age youth 5-13; the Bboy Bgirl Summit annual event for all ages; ICY Dance League for youth ages 7-18; Fortify Our Rebel Youth program for at risk youth 12-19; Queenz of Hip-Hop classes, workshops, for ages 5-24 and performances for all ages; the West Coast Funk n Soul Dance Series  events and workshops for all ages. Our programs are mainly targeted to serve BIPOC youth, families, women and multigenerational adults and are available in Los Angeles and Denver.

-Queenz of Hip-Hop weekly classes for school age youth in Denver and Aurora in partnership with Denver Public Schools and Aurora Public Schools along with 360 Arts servicing 800 students annually, along with performances with the Queenz of Hip-Hop from Colorado that engage and teach 400 teens and young women annually throughout the Colorado community, total served through programming 2,000, total event attendees 4,000. 

NEP, Inc., now established 11 years has seen steady reasonable growth for a nonprofit and currently has a revenue of 95,000, with 2 employees, 7 independent contractors, and 15 volunteers. We are self sustaining through annual service provider contracts with LAUSD, LAsBEST, 360 Arts, and Compton Unified School District and gain additional revenue through grants and donations from fundraising. We intend on growing our service provider contracts in 2021-2021 through expansion into middle schools, charter and private schools and youth centers and supplementing with grants. We are an awarded recipient for Outstanding Community Service from the Mayors office of LA, have a solid reputation, and respect of the community of Los Angeles and are making impact in the Colorado community as well. We have been awarded grants from the California Arts Council, LA County Arts, and LA Dept. of Cultural Affairs, Tides Foundation, Supreme NYC, and the Colorado Health Foundation.

During the covid 2020-2021 season we remain(ed) active program wise by holding the first virtual Bboy Bgirl Summit in 2020 in partnership with Grand Park. Equally we began servicing youth living in the housing projects with the LA ICY Dance League virtually which has continued twice a week without a pause for over a year. We also produced 6 short documentaries about Los Angeles street dance history that we screened virtually accompanied by zoom discussions for the community to participate in with the artists featured. We recently completed 20 successful summer residences at Compton Unified Middle Schools and taught over 400 middle school youth Hip-Hop cultural dance and history. We recently started a new program, Fortify Our Rebel Youth, and just concluded our summer season 2021 servicing 50 youth (25 in Los Angeles, and 25 in Denver, CO.) Most recently with the addition of a community college arts intern student we were able to increase our marketing efforts towards the recent Bboy Bgirl Summit 2021 event, resulting in 2000 attendees. 

Most recently our newest campaigns and offerings are LA vs Hate a 2 day event Nov. 20-21 to promote unity in the communities, especially in the Black & Brown communities through community dialog illustrating how Hip-Hop dance helps unify, strengthen and empower the races, collectively through the shared experience and practice of Hip-Hop culture. We listened to each other's testimonials how this works on a local, national and global level. We shared our dances with local youth through workshops in Poppin and Breakin taught by masters. We experienced dynamic street dance performances by world class groups of different generations, colors, and genders. We danced together and supported the unity of popping and breaking through a healthy teamwork competition 2v2 battle. 

We have organized a mission called #saveafghanhiphoppers to help a group of 19 Afghan young adults, mothers, and siblings who are in danger hiding in neighboring countries from the Taliban. Their lives are in danger and we need to get them out quickly and help them relocate and resettle. This is one of our current primary fundraising objectives!

We are concluding our fall HipHop101 residences at local elementary schools in Los Angeles and and gearing up for next years Fortify Our Rebel Youth classes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver! All the while our Los Angeles, Inner City Youth dance league continues as an online resource for all youth who need access to programming throughout the year!

BAAY enriches children’s lives through the exploration of the arts. We provide education in theatre, dance, music, and visual arts

Founded in 2006, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts education organization that offers quality instruction and mentoring in performing arts (theatre, theatre tech, choir, dance, music) and visual arts to youth ages 5-17. The mission of BAAY is to enrich children’s lives through the exploration of the arts.

BAAY serves approximately 1400 children annually in our campus theater, and in EduArts after-school enrichment classes in elementary schools throughout Whatcom County. Through our programs, we create community, and teach children confidence, character and creativity.

BAAY is committed to serving all children in our community. We believe that the arts are a basic and essential component of all children’s education. As part of our work toward equity, we never turn a child away for financial reasons, and in the last three years we’ve provided an average of over $30,000 a year in annual scholarship assistance to remove barriers to participation. As we grow, we are expanding our EduArts school-based programs to include fully subsidized after-school classes in Bellingham’s Title One schools, bringing the arts into the schools to reach children who need them.

Since 2015, the public charter school Orange County Academy of Sciences and Arts (OCASA) has carried out its mission to place an emphasis on the academic, social and physical development in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). We believe high-quality, accessible, and equitable education is a human right. As the world around us evolves and advances, so must our schools, who are teaching the future leaders of our communities, states, and nation. STEAM skills are in high demand. As stated recently by the U.S. Department of Education STEM Department, to create a nation where our future leaders, neighbors, and workers can understand and solve some of the complex challenges of today and tomorrow, and to meet the demands of the dynamic and evolving workforce, building students' skills, content knowledge, and literacy in STEAM fields is essential.

About OCASA
OCASA operates under four guiding principles of teaching and learning: 
1.	Every child is unique; 
2.	We learn by doing; 
3.	A commitment to equality and diversity is vital; and
4.	A thriving community nurtures thriving students. 

We serve approximately 500 students annually across two campuses in Orange County, California: OCASA Elementary serves students K-5th grade in Laguna Niguel, and OCASA College Prep offers 6-10th grade classes (eventually to 12th grade) in San Juan Capistrano. Both OCASA campuses offer unique and innovative curriculum designed to help youth launch a STEAM-focused future. Through STEAM education, students are empowered to be curious learners who seek creative solutions to questions they can’t just search for online, leading students to develop the soft and hard skills necessary to succeed in college and in their careers. Additionally, our schools provide an environment that is welcoming of students and their families to learn in harmony favoring a multi-cultural spirit and awareness of the world we live in.

At OCASA, all classes are single-grade level. In addition, each student is assigned a mentor and a Self-Directed Learning (SDL) period to work on individual goals, group projects, and teacher-directed workshops. One-to-one mentoring is one of the important pillars of instruction at OCASA College Prep as we know how important it is for children to be truly connected with and cared for by the adults at their school. All students are paired with a mentor who acts as their advocate both inside and outside of the classroom. Mentors meet with their students one-on-one regularly to support their students in their progress towards their short-term and long-term academic and personal goals. The educational program at OCASA College Prep utilizes instructional practices that are proven to promote student learning. Teachers and administrators develop and implement an innovative educational model that addresses the needs of the whole child and emphasizes academic, personal, social, and emotional development.

OCASA Elementary and OCASA College Prep offer all required courses at each grade level including Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education. In addition, we have a number of specialty classes that vary by grade level and campus such as fine arts, music, engineering, design & modeling, computer science, and Spanish. Both OCASA campuses are classroom-based, personalized learning schools. The goal is to provide adaptable instruction to each student regardless of their age or grade-level.

What OCASA Aims to Solve 
The pandemic created an unprecedented educational rupture, the ramifications of which could last a lifetime. Although schools have adapted to our new reality as rapidly as possible, without continued adaption, the cumulative learning loss among already disadvantaged students can be catastrophic, especially in mathematics: Students of color may find themselves six months to an entire year behind.  In addition to the imminent threat of unprecedented learning loss to contend with, there is also a looming potential for equally unprecedented dropout rates. Exit from public school systems is occurring to different degrees, but the biggest drop may be at the starting point in kindergarten.  The lack of a kindergarten experience can have profound developmental impacts influencing later academic performance and even long-term life outcomes.  Especially given that early STEAM interventions are key to capturing interest and nurturing STEAM identities that can lead, this trend of kindergarten departures is especially alarming.

Compounding this, despite the perennial growth of lucrative STEM professions, gaps in STEM labor force participation remain just as persistent— the World Economic Forum has detailed a troubling skills shortage that will require 50% of all employees to reskill by 2025.  Even still, low-income students, girls, and students of color overwhelmingly fall into the gap between their STEM education and a STEM workforce with increasingly vacant positions. 
Notably, research shows that racial/ethnic minority students tend to take fewer high-level STEM courses in high school compared to White students, despite showing similar levels of interest and confidence in STEM topics —nurturing a STEM Identity among groups historically underrepresented in STEM fields and professions, therefore, is critical to accessing this interest and confidence, countering stereotypes that preclude STEM identification, and confronting the systemic inequities that consistently keep BIPOC students, girls, and low-income students out of STEM fields and lucrative, available workforce pathways.

OCASA’s STEAM Education 
In the short-term, OCASA aims to remedy the educational rupture brought on by COVID-19. In the long-term, OCASA will meet the ever-changing needs of the community with an innovative, new school model that provides families with greater options for their children’s education. Students’ level of exposure to STEAM in K–12 is a critical reason why they choose to or don’t choose pursue STEAM fields during their college education. Elementary public school students spend very little time on science, and the state sets a very low passing score on its 8th-grade science test.

At OCASA, our STEAM learning involves looking at our world through a multicultural lens in STEAM, as well as a Spanish culture and language program. Each class meets two days a week, with all STEAM+ electives striving to be hands-on, with innovative lessons tied to other subject areas and our Inquiry Arc theme. Inquiry Arcs are discrete units of study that utilize inquiry to drive learning and build students’ agency. They provide broad context and room for exploration around an interdisciplinary theme, and allow students to identify patterns and connections in their learning. Students at OCASA Elementary have meaningful time for tinkering, prototyping, and building through our on-campus lab spaces, as well as resource-rich experiences in music and the arts.

The following represents the impact of OCASA’s unique educational approach:
•	Deliberate practice in the art of short-, medium-, and long-term goal setting supports students’ development.
•	Developing a student’s self-knowledge is a key building block for lifelong learning. 
•	Deep, hands-on exploration of a diverse array of subject areas, professional fields, and work-settings not only helps expose students to new experiences but also develops self- knowledge and supports an emergent sense of purpose.
•	Students with a sense of belonging in school feel socially connected, supported, and respected. They trust their teachers and their peers. They are confident that they are seen as a person of value.
•	In order to achieve their college and career goals, students need an understanding of the transition to the college and career landscape including, but not limited to, practical, financial, and logistical requirements and admission processes. 

Technology is a part of daily instruction and contributes to the application-based approach to learning. Given the world that we share, we believe that technology proficiency and judgment is critical, and that enables students to explore and propel their learning forward. 
We see our role in the ecosystem of Orange County schools as:
1.	A lab-school focused on experiential learning as well as a test bed to prototype other nontraditional educational approaches;
2.	A thought partner responsible for sharing out best practices and lessons learned, and;
3.	A collaborator working alongside other school leaders in the pursuit of providing all children with an excellent education.

About Donations
OCASA is not a private school. As a public charter school, academic instruction is funded by the State of California. However, we rely on the generosity of the individuals, foundations, businesses and corporations to fund the annual cost of our programs, scholarships, afterschool services and community outreach programs. OCASA does not charge tuition and admits all students who wish to attend unless it receives a greater number of applications than there are spaces for students, in which case it will hold a public random drawing to determine admission.

Our unique educational approach aims to prepare our diverse and underserved students for an increasingly complex and globalized world. Additionally, OCASA provides a pathway to college and a professional career for low-middle income students who may not have had the opportunity otherwise due to limited resources. Donations would allow OCASA to continue to offer its award winning STEAM curriculum to any student, regardless of income, background and residency/school district. Together, we can ensure that all youth in our community have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.


Orange County Academy of Sciences and Arts

We use Sports to Educate, Empower and Improve life-skills, environment and health of 4000 children and youth in Kenya annually.

Sadili Oval Sports Academy is a registered NGO with the Government of Kenya, with the main focus of improving the lives of up to 4000 children and youth annually, through education, by using the power of sports.

Offices Location: Civil Servants Estate in Langata Constituency, and Katwekera in Kibera Constituency in Nairobi County.

Our Focus: To reduce poverty and distress through health improvement, education and sports amongst children and youth. We promote sports, health and education as a way to improve life and provide an income in the future.

We provide education scholarships in the following manner:

- Create play spaces in and around high density and low income urban communities.
- Run Training Camps during April, August and December of each year, that provide specialised training in sports and community responsibility to talented but otherwise disadvantaged children from Kibera, Nyalenda, Langata and Mombasa,. During this time, we also offer training seminars on HIV-AIDS, WASH and leadership and develop peer educators.
- Improve classroom facilities and provide books and learning materials to poor children. This includes improvement of walls and floors of classrooms in Kibera to reduce infection.
- A squad of players of the program are supported to play regional tournaments and use the opportunity to promote the ideals of the program beyond their borders.
- Every effort is often made to integrate these children into the society through allowing some children from more affluent societies to participate in selected camps in the program. 50% of the opportunities are open to girls. - A select number of talented but under-privileged children from the East African region also receive further scholarship for our homeschooling program at Malezi School. We now target 40 boys and girls aged between 9 and 18 years, who receive a 1 to 2-year schooling. http://vimeo.com/71362314
- We train an average of 42 out-of-school youth annually, for self-employment and job placement opportunities through teaching skills in sports, coaching and making of basic sports equipment.
- We develop “green practices” amongst the children and youth through practical environmental action: tree planting and cleanups.
- We promote the girl-child in health, educational and entrepreneurial activities.

Our Main Programs: 2024-2028 are as follows:

We work in these parts of Kenya: Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyando, Siaya, Kwale, Mombasa and Busia Counties

The projects and what we intend to address:

1. Court of Dreams Project:

A health and hygiene project targeting nursery and primary children below 10 years through kids’ tennis, athletics and basketball.

Goal: To improve school attendance, reduce drop out and absenteeism through preventable illness amongst the poor areas in Kenya.

Activities include: a) training of teachers in health and improvement of sustainable environment. b) Donation of school books and play materials c) Creation of appropriate training materials for reading and mathematics in lower primary and nursery.

2. Girl Power Clubs Africa Project:

This is a leadership program that uses sport to promote education, health and entrepreneurship. We are currently based in Siaya, Busia, Lanet, Homa Bay and Nairobi, where we target 1700 girl leaders a year.

This program involves the following activities, divided into 3 parts of the year and involves:

a) Regular sport activities, coached by female coaches, where possible, in conjunction with life skills sessions.

b) Building the capacity of the coaches, facilitators (especially girls and women) to enable effective quality scale up of our program.

c) Organising community engagement activities or events, organised and led by the beneficiaries.

d) Support a leadership pathway for program beneficiaries, to become Girl Power Champions and other peer leaders to practice and refine their leadership skills. At the end of 1-2 years, a girl graduates as a Girl Power Champion, giving way to a new recruit to begin. The Girl Power Champions are now leaders who support and mentor the next generation of Girl Power cubs.

3. emPower My Life!

Development of a toolkit designed for any coach implementing the emPower my life! Project in Kibera and in Nairobi. The content of this toolkit allows coaches to plan, create and conduct sport ad play-based sessions that aim to reduce sexual violence and HIV/AIDS among school children. The toolkit also provides a peer-to peer learning for Sadili’s Junior Girl Power Clubs and Ushindi Boys Clubs, enabling teenagers to lead the fight against sexual violence. The target group includes girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 11 from non-privileged backgrounds in Nairobi, Kwale, Siaya and Busia.

5. Project Sakafu

Project Sakafu builds safe low maintenance classroom floors where children below 6 years attend school in Kenya. The floors provide the children with a healthy, active playing and learning safe site within a protected atmosphere, decreasing incidences of children having contact with pathogens in the classroom, while providing an improved learning through play facility for better health.

Women Inspiring NextGen (WIN) is a Women's Giving Circle providing grants to help underserved youth in the Los Angeles Area. 

We dedicate the charitable dollars of our members to support nonprofit organizations which provide resources and inspire the potential of underserved children youth in the Great Los Angeles Area. And given that we are an all-volunteer organization, we are committed to granting at least 96% of our donations directly to nonprofit grants with the rest going only to basic running costs. 

We are volunteer-driven and our members use their diverse skills and talents to make this organization great.  We provide a variety of opportunities for members to learn more about local nonprofits and to become knowledgeable philanthropists. However, there is no time commitment required. Some members simply like knowing their donation will be put to good use in the community.

The concept is simple. Each voting member donates a minimum of $1,000 annually. Non-voting supporters are welcome to join at any level. Each member has one vote and grants will be awarded based on members votes in April each year.

VROCC promotes arts, culture, and education via Latino cultural entrepreneurship, dance, and music in East Boston, MA. 

Mission: To promote Latin American arts and cultures as an engine for stronger communities and economic growth.

Vision: To create a vibrant and interconnected multigenerational community where all feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to drive social change and community action, through the diverse arts and cultures of Latin America.









Veronica Robles Cultural Center

We empower children and young adults through art programs in the largest non-formal settlement of East Africa (Kibera, Nairobi).

ONE FINE DAY e.V. was founded in 2008 by Marie Steinmann and Tom Tykwer. Our mission is to support children and young adults from disadvantaged areas to discover their creative potential and take control of their own lives through practicing various artistic disciplines.

With our Kenyan based partner organisation Anno's One Fine Day, we developed a an educational program where children and young adults can explore their artistic abilities and use art as a tool to better understand themselves and the world they live in. Throughout the year, more than 1000 students take part in our weekly creative classes in categories such as Visual Arts, Dance, Ballet, Drama & Film Acting, Music, Acrobatics and Creative Writing/Storytelling.

Thanks to the generous donations and the support of the german government we constructed a unique Arts Centre in Kibera, the largest informal settlement in East Africa which was inaugurated in January 2024. The ARTS CENTRE in Kibera, developed by the German NGO ONE FINE DAY e.V., and the Kenyan community based organisation ANNO'S ONE FINE DAY stands as a testament to a 16 years successful Kenyan-German collaboration. We aim to provide a nurturing environment for children and young adults to explore diverse artistic disciplines.

Why art? Because we are convinced that learning individual creative skills has a decisive influence on a person's life and significantly shapes self-confidence with regard to professional orientations and a self- determined life plan.

The long-term results prove us right. Many of the children and young people who have participated in our programs cite these experiences as a milestone in their decision-making and more courageous shaping of their life paths. Some have gone on to careers in the disciplines they learned.

The ARTS CENTRE stands as a sustainable home for our projects, providing a sanctuary for children and young adults. It is a safe and secure refuge where they can freely express themselves. Recognising that arts and culture are the fourth pillar of sustainable development, we prioritise increasing access to the arts, especially at the grassroots level. Our goal is to create an enabling environment where children and young adults can explore and express their creativity in their own unique ways.

Afrika Burns Creative Projects exists to advance a culture of creativity: upholding and promoting freedom and diversity of expression, inclusive community building and volunteerism with the aim of fostering positive social change, which: 
 - Creates a blank canvas to actualise and promote a wide spectrum of arts and culture in South Africa at and through the annual AfrikaBurn and other events; 
-  Implements developmental, creative social outreach projects that uplift and include the marginalised and underprivileged;  
-  Innovates and collaborates with local and international partners to foster cultural, skills and knowledge exchange in the AfrikaBurn community, the Burning Man Regional Network and beyond;  
- Implements and supports projects which enrich education, provide bursary support, preserve and regenerate the planet and protect non-human life from abuse and degradation. Current projects - 

AfrikaBurn:
A community of participants who gather in the remote and isolated Tankwa Karoo, South Africa,  to create art, performance, cultural practice, theme camps, music, mutant vehicles and much, much more. It is the spectacular result of a volunteer and gifting culture, supported by creative and access grants that seek to support diverse African expression and non conformist art. AfrikaBurn is a week-long event in a temporary city of trans-disciplinary arts and culture, at the end of April each year. 

The event supports the community of the Tankwa Karoo through funding the learners at the local farm school Elandsvlei through primary and high schooling. It also acts to conserve the local culture of the karretjie mense (donkey cart people), by creating access to veterinary animal welfare services, through community outreach.

Streetopia:
Flooding the streets of Observatory, Cape Town with creativity, Streetopia is a free community-based arts event promoting a safer street culture for all. AfrikaBurn has been the anchor partner for the project since 2015, which enjoys recognition as a "special event" as part of the Cape Town's calendar. 

Activities we are currently fundraising for - 

RISE (Resilience in Shared Endeavour):
A co-created immersive programme based at Quaggafontein in the Tankwa Karoo desert, that integrates two focal areas: practical skills development, and creative dialogues on women in society. Content is developed and implemented participant facilitators to encourage everyone to share their wisdom in the experience. The inaugural programme in 2021 brought together 40 women and non-binary people together to create life-shaping moments that resulted in a strong and active network of peers. Our aim is this becomes an annual gathering and a growing network.  rise.afrikaburn.com

Hammerschool:
Actualised as a pilot programme during the pandemic, Hammerschool is a hands on learning experience in the artisanal basics of metalwork, carpentry, light electrics and working with recycled materials. It aims to bring the desert learning experience of the Department of Public Works team to an urban environment and infuse it with design thinking and public art appreciation. The initial cycle of 6 workshops empowered 40 women and non-binary people, who in the main were from marginalised communities with new skills. Organisation background - 

Afrika Burns Creative Projects was established in 2007 as a Non-Profit Company and registered as a Public Benefit Organisation in 2020. It serves as the strategic driver of the culture shared across the Burning Man Regional Network, which is underpinned by the principles of: participation, radical inclusion, decommodification, communal effort,  immediacy, radical self reliance, gifting, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, radical self expression and each one teach one.
