EducArte offers music, dance, and arts programming that centers around encounters of African, indigenous, and European cultures in the Americas, especially in Latin America. EducArte focuses on community building and cross-cultural communication to foster a vibrant and diverse cultural arts community that encourages artist and audience collaboration.
We believe that engagement in the arts should be part of everyone’s daily lives because creative engagement results in healthier people and society. We approach our projects and community with a deep commitment to social justice, equity, inclusion, and equality.
We create in-person and virtual educational programs to promote and support local and visiting artists. Our work sparks cross-cultural communication through workshops, master classes, residencies, and community events in traditional and non-traditional arts spaces.
We envision creating spaces for people to learn about cultures through the practice of music and dance. We want to create a place where people feel that they are a part of something and have a sense of community that is built through the practice and appreciation of various cultural music and dance forms.
We open spaces for cultural expression by artists and their communities on their own terms, and we invite audiences into those spaces to cultivate cultural understanding.
EducArte values and celebrates diversity. Central to our mission is the representation of cultural practices of historically underrepresented communities through our educational programming. We define diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and class, as well as life experiences, educational background, and artistic research and practice. Our organization is committed to creating an inclusive environment and to adopting anti-racist practices in both our programming and within our internal team. We are also committed to ensuring that our board and administrative team includes people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
