St. Croix Animal Welfare Center

For more than 50 years, the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center (SCAWC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the homeless, abused and neglected animals of St. Croix. Our mission is “to provide and promote the humane treatment of animals through humane education, animal protection and community service.”

The SCAWC is the only open-admission animal shelter on the island of St. Croix - we turn no animal away in need. The SCAWC rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes stray, abandoned, and abused animals; provides intervention services such as offering free spay/neuter surgeries, pet vaccinations and food; reunites lost pets with their owners; responds to community calls for compassion to serve injured or distressed animals and facilitates humane education to the younger generation, to help stop the cycle of animal abuse and abandonment. In 2016, we added a low-cost neighborhood clinic for residents who cannot otherwise afford veterinary care for their 4 legged family members.

Many of the abandoned and neglected animals that call St. Croix home are struggling to survive each day without access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and shelter.

In 2023, we are expected to serve over 5,100 animals! We can only do this with your help!

DONATE TO OUR SPAY AND NEUTER PROGRAM! A critical tool to help homeless animals is spaying and neutering! Since 2020, the SCAWC has spayed and neutered over 8,600 animals. Your donation will help make these life-saving procedures accessible to more pets in need.

DONATE TO OUR PAWS FROM PARADISE PROGRAM (PFP)! PFP is our pet transport program that flies hundreds of abandoned and neglected dogs to partner rescues in the United States to find their furever homes!
