The Queer African Network (QAN) is the only social and professional mobile application currently in existence that is built by and for LGBTQ+ people of African heritage to safely form meaningful connections, access opportunities, fundraise and find life-saving information. QAN’s goal is to be the most secure primary mobile application used for resource sharing and mobilization on LGBTQ+ needs across the African continent. Thus far QAN hosts over 2,000 members on our platform from 18 different countries who are using the platform to safely access connections and resources. Our talk on TED.com has reached over 1,400,000 people and received 43,000 likes which indicates the urgent need for building a world where queer Africans can safely access networks and resources.
QAN has been supported by the African Leadership for Governance (ALforGov), TED Fellows, Obama Foundation, Skoll World Forum Fellowship, Numun, Echoing Green, We Are Family Foundation, RIVET, and the UN Commission on the Status of Women.Links*1. Click here to watch our TED talk. *2. Click here to read an Echoing Green article on our work.**3. Click here to watch our feature in the Obama Leaders Africa Program.
