Nancholi Youth Organization (NAYO) is a community-based organization that provides essential medical services and educational support to young people and their families living in the Nancholi area of southern Malawi.
Founded in 2004 by four local youths to empower and support other young people impacted by HIV/AIDS, NAYO has grown to include a health clinic which sees 150 patients per day and provides a broad range of services including antenatal services, caring for under-five children, providing HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention programs, nutritional support, and palliative care.
NAYO clinic, is a beacon of hope and health for anyone living in our community. The outpatient clinic provides medication and comprehensive healthcare services at no cost to the community.
HIV/AIDS Program
Our clinic supports and treats over 1,000 clients living with HIV per year by providing antiretroviral (ARV) therapy and other medical treatments such as antibiotics and analgesics. To treat clients who live in far hard to reach areas NAYO Clinic brings services into our clients' communities via our mobile clinic, allowing them easy access needed treatment and support services.
Youth Friendly Services
We operate 48 youth clubs, serving both in-school and out-of-school youths. Currently, NAYO has 2,160 youth members. The young people meet every day at their respective locations to discuss a variety of important topics.
The primary focus of these gatherings is to engage young people in discussions around sexual and reproductive health issues, and life skills, and empower them to make informed decisions. They also talk about HIV/AIDS-related issues, highlighting the importance of getting tested for HIV and receiving appropriate treatment.
Palliative Care Services
We provide comprehensive palliative care services to 692 critically ills patients who aresuffering from a range of diseases, including diabetes, cancers, TB, and high blood pressure, among others. We are dedicated to ensuring that these patients receive the necessary medical care and support to manage their conditions effectively.
In addition to seeing patients in our clinic, we conduct home visits to monitor the progress of treatments and to ensure that patients are responding well to their prescribed therapies. This personalized approach brings essential healthcare services directly to the patients' homes, making it more accessible and comfortable for them.
Nutritional Support
NAYO provides essential food supplements to more than 615 individuals every three months living with HIV/AIDS, particularly focusing on those who are unable to afford basic food supplies. We supporting these individuals to maintain their health, ensure consistent medication intake, and to ultimately improve their overall well-being and quality of life.
