**House of Cherith** is a trauma-informed care residential recovery program providing a safe place for adult female survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation and those who have been employed in the sex entertainment industry. Our goal is to provide love and nurturing while preparing them for long-term sobriety and success. We are dedicated to helping provide resources and tools for restoring the heart so life can become whole, wounds are healed, new opportunities become evident, and hope is restored.

In just over a month I will be running the 74 mile Florida Death Race, Run Bum.. Training for an ultra marathon is a privilege, but it can also feel very self-centered. That's why, for my big milestone races, I strive to raise awareness and funds for noteworthy causes. This time, I'm supporting House of Cherith, an organization combating modern-day sex trafficking and providing a sanctuary for survivors of sexual exploitation.

House of Cherith offers vital rehabilitation programs for women who have endured years of trauma. These programs help them rebuild their lives and regain their independence. I invite you to visit their page and website to read the powerful success stories of the residents.

A clean bed means the world to the women in the program. Every $30 donation provides new linens for a survivor who has escaped trafficking and abuse. With around 120 beds, the cost adds up.

Endurance for Empowerment 

**THE PROBLEM**

There is an estimated [24.9 million](https://www.state.gov/humantrafficking-about-human-trafficking/#:~:text=With%20an%20estimated%2024.9%20million,them%20for%20their%20own%20profit.) victims of human trafficking worldwide. 

Approximately [40%](https://www.iom.int/sites/g/files/tmzbdl486/files/our_work/DMM/MAD/Counter-trafficking%20Data%20Brief%20081217.pdf) of victims of trafficking are recruited by immediate family members or close family friends.

The average age a teen enters the sex trade in the US is [12 to 14 years old](https://ojjdp.ojp.gov/model-programs-guide/literature-reviews/commercial_sexual_exploitation_of_children_and_sex_trafficking.pdf).

Globally, the human trafficking industry earns [$150 billion annually, and $99 billion](https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/2022-02/CCHT%20Annual%20Report.pdf) comes from commercial sexual exploitation.

Survivors of sex trafficking suffer from severe physical, emotional, and mental health challenges. 

*Currently, there is a shortage of safe housing and supportive services for trafficked victims.*

**WHAT WE DO**

While tremendous efforts have been made to raise awareness and eradicate modern-day sex trafficking, there remains a major shortage of supportive services designed for survivors. **Our focus** is to serve the survivors struggling to recover from the years, or even decades, of trauma they have endured.
