The mission of Gong Tones is to promote and facilitate research studying the therapeutic benefits of gong meditation as a potential intervention for individuals with anxiety.
Dissertation research conducted by Dr. Karambir S. Khalsa (N=26) found that individuals who listened to a recorded gong meditation most days during a two week period showed statistically significant reductions in trait anxiety compared to controls. In the future, Dr. Khalsa plans to repeat the study with a larger sample size (N=120) in order to verify the previous findings. The long term path is to add gong meditation as an evidence-based adjunct treatment for mental disorders.
