Paying it forward in the cause of educating South African girls.

We aim to advance the mental wellbeing of our South Asian community.

In 2021, during their freshman year of college, our founders Ravi Parekh and Aaron Pandian suffered the loss of their close friend and roommate, Farhan, in a tragic murder-suicide where he took the lives of himself and his family. 

Farhan was struggling with a variety of inadequately treated mental illnesses. However, like so many members of the South Asian-American community, his parents simply lacked the tools, resources, and education necessary for providing him the care he needed.

They recognized that, as an immigrant South Asian family, they lacked the tools, resources, and education necessary for providing Farhan the care he needed. The tragedy of Farhan and his family revealed that there are many mental health issues unique to the cultural characteristics of South Asians. Understanding that these environmental factors and structural barriers to effective care created the situation which led to this tragedy, we theorized a youth-led grass-roots advocacy and education initiative that equips South Asian youth and other interested parties with access to tools and resources to understand, process, and empower.

Grass-roots efforts are often inspired by lived experiences. Our passion and drive to bridge the gaps in mental health care for South Asian individuals stem from our lived experiences.

Knowledge is empowering, and part of understanding mental health is to both learn and express empathy for those affected who are unable to receive effective care. To learn not to fear mental illness as a sibling, parent, friend, significant other, or affected individual and employ newly acquired tools that work to connect with the resources they need. 

MHISA embodies these ideals and provides us an outlet to engage those around us with a shared goal: to enable South Asians struggling with mental illness to lead better and healthful lives.

The impending closure of the Ontario Landfill leaves us with big challenges. ReUse Systems Inc. will be part of the solution across the region, providing practical ways to reduce what we throw away. 

We understand that resources are finite, especially within our smaller communities. The linear waste stream of make, buy, use, and throw away continues to add to the landfill mass without regard to environmental or human impact. Our purpose is to create a retail store community hub and network for sustainable rural living within the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. We champion a circular economy model with reuse, waste diversion, skills training, resource sharing and social and environmental justice at the foundation of this effort. Together, we can create a future where less is wasted—and more is possible.

Les Amis du Château de Rosa Bonheur, was founded following the purchase of the Château de Rosa Bonheur, also known as the Château de By, by the Brault family in 2017. The château, located in Thomery, France, served as Bonheur’s residence for the last 40 years of her life, and its acquisition marked the beginning of a new era in the preservation of the artist’s heritage. Upon acquiring the property, the Brault family discovered thousands of archival documents in the château’s attic, many of which had been untouched for over a century. These documents included personal letters, sketches, financial records, and other invaluable materials that shed light on Bonheur’s life, work, and influence.

Recognizing the importance of these discoveries, the Brault family and the organization sought to create an environment where scholars, particularly from the United States, could engage in rigorous research on these newly unearthed documents. The historical link between Rosa Bonheur and the United States, where many of her works are held in private collections or sold through auction houses, further motivated the establishment of the AFCRB. The organization’s founders recognized the need to bridge the gap between French and American art scholarship, encouraging transatlantic collaboration to ensure a comprehensive understanding of Bonheur’s artistic contributions.

The Fondation des États-Unis is an American cultural center & student residence located in Paris.

The United States Foundation (Fondation des Etats-Unis or FEU) is a student residence and multicultural center located in Paris. Founded in 1930 by American philanthropists Homer and Mable Gage with a donation to the University of Paris, its primary purpose is to provide a lively home with affordable rent to young Americans studying in Paris.

Located in Paris's 14th arrondissement across from the Parc Montsouris on the eco-campus of the Cite internationale universitaire de Paris (CiuP), the Foundation is housed in an 8000 square-meter art deco building designed by Pierre Leprince-Ringuet. The frescoes on the walls of its Grand Salon, by painter Robert La Montagne Saint-Hubert, are listed as a historic monument and can be visited by the public during European Heritage Days in September.

To fulfill its public-interest mission, the Foundation presents projects throughout the year that are led by its residents, alumni, its own Harriet Hale Woolley Fellowship artists, and other companies in artistic residence. As a non-profit organization, its concerts, exhibits, workshops, conferences, and performances are open to the general public free of charge. We have proudly educated black South African girls since 1869.


Founded in 1869, Inanda Seminary has a history of providing high-quality education, even during the Apartheid era when the Bantu Education Act enforced sub-standard education for black South Africans. Many of South Africa's top professionals, including CEOs and bankers, are alumnae of Inanda. Notably, Nonkululeko Nyembezi, the Chair of the Standard Bank Group, is an Inanda graduate.

Today, Inanda continues to offer a high standard of education to girls from the "missing middle", those who want the best for their daughters but who cannot afford to send them to high-status independent schools. Inanda remains committed to its mission of helping young girls to shine through serving students from under-resourced rural and peri-urban communities, many of whom carry educational deficits from their primary schooling.Inanda Seminary’s rich history, its unique school culture and unparalleled dedication to quality education for black girls make it a treasured South African institution. Goal 1: Maintain or improve existing academic performance



Continue to offer high-quality education to over 350 girls aged 13-18 years (Grades 8-12).

Ensure 100% pass rate in Grade 12 (matric) National Senior Certificate examinations.

Achieve 90% eligibility for university entrance among graduates.

Maintain a 100% pass rate in English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Accounting.





Goal 2: Enhance and Develop school facilities

Upgrade existing hostel facilities to create a high-quality, comfortable “home-from-home” for all students.

Build a new hostel to provide  accommodation for additional students.

Upgrade classrooms to be conducive to teaching and learning: structurally safe, aesthetically pleasing and technologically relevant.

Upgrade sports facilities: resurface existing sports courts to create a flexible multi-discipline area (tennis, volleyball, basketball, netball, mini hockey, mini soccer, paddle).

Create sustainability by enhancing the school’s marketing capabilities.

Explore possibilities for new feeder schools and areas.

Increase the number of bursaries and scholarships through recruiting new donors and sponsors.

Diverse clubs and societies including debate, drama, and choir, fostering students' creative and critical thinking skills.

The ADAA Foundation, established in 1970, is a separate but related entity to the ADAA. Our Foundation has provided grants to museums, archives, and arts organizations nationwide to support art historical research and exhibition development.

Ithaca City of Asylum (ICOA) is a community organization dedicated to providing sanctuary to writers whose works are suppressed, whose lives are threatened, whose cultures are vanishing, or whose languages are endangered. ICOA is a member of the International Cities of Refuge Network, one of only three member cities in the United States. Formed in 2001, ICOA has hosted writer, poet, and essayist Yi Ping; the late playwright and novelist Reza Daneshvar; poet and memoirist Sarah Mkhonza; poet and playwright Irakli Kakabadze; journalist Sonali Samarasinghe; journalist and memoirist Raza Rumi; political cartoonist Pedro Molina; poet, novelist, and satirist Dmitry Bykov; and filmmaker, writer and puppeteer Arthur Groys.

**The problem**

In many places in today’s world, writers face persecution for the statements they make in their art. Every writer who is silenced means one less voice to speak for thousands more against oppression.
 
**Our approach**

ICOA hosts one writer at a time (plus family members) for a two-year residence in partnership with a local institution of higher learning. Currently, our artist serves as a Visiting Affiliate Artist at Ithaca College. Cornell University has hosted past writers and currently provides substantial financial sponsorship. 

Our visiting writers teach, share their work through public events, and form alliances with local organizations. The resident benefits from a place to live, time to write, financial support, and community. Ithaca gains the perspective, friendship, and artistry of each visiting resident.

The Bollandist Society is a Jesuit research institute dedicated to the critical study of Greek, Latin, Oriental and vernacular hagiographic literature as well as to the history of the saints and their cults. An endowment protecting the Los Cedros cloud forest forever.

Held in the mists of the Ecuadorian Tropical Andes, a scientific station works with local communities to protect a cloud forest known as Los Cedros (“The Cedars”). The station encourages artists, educators, and researchers to connect with and learn from Los Cedros, whose walking palm trees and old growth lift racket-tail hummingbirds and critically endangered brown-headed spider monkeys into the clouds. Decades of interdependent artwork and scientific discovery from the station—including over 100 publications—factored into the 2021 [decision of Ecuador’s highest court](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/dec/02/plan-to-mine-in-ecuador-forest-violate-rights-of-nature-court-rules-aoe) to ban extractive practices in the forest by upholding Los Cedros’ constitutional rights to exist and to thrive.

This ruling set a monumental precedent for worldwide Rights of Nature efforts. Yet mining companies continue to apply pressure to Los Cedros communities and Ecuadorian authorities—and if mining comes to pass in Los Cedros, it will devastate one of the most biodiverse and endemic forests in the world. Home to thousands of wildlife species, Los Cedros spans 6000 hectares of mostly primary forest habitat. There, the threatened spectacled bear builds a tree bed to feast on aguacatillo berries (tiny avocados), and the elusive jaguar has left her tracks on the banks of waterfalls. In the abundant green shadows, undiscovered fungi, insects, and orchids flourish. A glass frog hides his heartbeat under a leaf.

As one of the rare places where humans can still drink directly from cascading rivers, this refuge also protects numerous watersheds crucial to downstream communities. So, the Los Cedros Fund will prove that the station’s approach of sustainably partnering with the cloud forest and surrounding communities is best for Pachamama—all of Mother Earth, including humans—in the long term.

The Los Cedros Fund is growing an endowment for the cloud forest to be financially self-sufficient. Honoring all who’ve protected the forest for decades, the Los Cedros Fund aims to offer this new watershed of perennial support to the forest to keep artistic, educational, and scientific collaborations flowing.

Since 1945, Neighborhood House of Milwaukee has inspired discovery in generations of youth and families.

Neighborhood House of Milwaukee's mission is to inspire discovery in children and families of all backgrounds so they become lifelong learners and confident leaders among their peers, families, and communities. 

Our accredited programs include:

- **Early Childhood Program (ECP)** (ages 6 weeks - 4 years). NH’s state-licensed and nationally accredited, early childhood program provides exceptional care and education that supports age-appropriate development and ensures school readiness. ECP also includes Early Head start programming for infants and toddlers up to age 3.
- **School-Age Youth Programs** (ages 5-12) includes a state-licensed, before- and after-school program at NH, an after-school Safe Place initiative at Story Elementary, and Summer Programming. These initiatives provide educational enrichment, recreation, and community engagement.
- **Teens on the Move Program** (ages of 13-19) provides engaging activities that focus on life and leadership skills, violence prevention, vocational preparedness, health, and recreation.
- **Family Programming** features free or very low-cost educational, cultural and holiday events.
- **International Learning Program (ILP)** offers English as a Second Language, basic education, and citizenship instruction, employment skills training, and access to resources to 200+ adult refugees and immigrants annually.
- **Environmental Education Program (EE)**. One of the oldest environmental and science education programs in the area, EE offers science-based education and enrichment activities using a NH-developed curriculum.
- **Community Education** offers health and wellness events and engages in community-wide health programs. Specific offerings include our annual health resource fair, fall flu immunization clinic, and health workshops.

A center that preserves Cambodian history through film.

Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center, (founded as the Association pour la recherche, la production et l’archivage des documents audiovisuels in 2005), is a leading non-profit and non-governmental archive center, committed to reviving the memory of Cambodia and fostering Cambodian culture through arts and multimedia. This memory and culture have been nearly destroyed by three decades of war and genocide. Aiming to reconstruct the memory of Cambodia, under the term “Save and Resuscitate Yesterday’s and Today’s Memories”, Bophana Center collects and safeguards audiovisual archives of Cambodia including films, photos and sound archives from around the world; provides public access to this audiovisual heritage; and trains youths in filmmaking to facilitate freedom and artistic expression and for archiving the country. These efforts will help Cambodians to gradually restore this priceless heritage, and will enable them to understand their past, build their present and invent their future.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, and like other institutions in Cambodia, Bophana Center has complied with restrictions which required the closure of public spaces, work places and the suspension of outdoor projects which are the main sources of the Center’s income. As a result, the Center struggled to cover basic monthly expenses to pay for staff salaries, utilities, and other core expenses.

As Bophana begins to re-open, staff are returning and exploring ways to re-start Bophana's programs.  Your donation at this critical moment is urgently needed and will help the Center survive the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 virus pandemic and the resulting national and global shutdown.

Phare Ponleu Selpak is a Cambodian non-profit arts school located in Battambang, offering support to children, youth and the surrounding communities through artistic, educational and social support programmes.

Phare Phare Ponleu Selpak was founded more than a quarter of a century ago, by nine Cambodians, who grew up in a refugee camp after surviving the genocide of the Khmer Rouge, and their French arts teacher. Resilience and hope has been in Phare’s DNA from the very beginning, and from a simple arts school it blossomed into the multi-faceted creative hub it is today.

Phare educates and trains thousands of children and youth who come from challenging backgrounds. Most receive a mainstream education which helps them thrive as adults, but others become artists, performers and musicians who keep Cambodia’s creative culture alive after its almost total destruction by the Khmer Rouge. We offer them social support, education and arts programs so they can build their future and support their families through creative careers.

Arts Los Altos is dedicated to implementing public art that creates connections among diverse community members and local businesses, elevating the cultural identity of Los Altos. 

We have the unique ability to work directly with artists, the downtown business community and property owners to achieve vibrant, curated public art on private property. 

Public art represents innovation and sustainability, reflects nature, honors history, inspires imagination, provides moments of reflection and educates the community, from local lore to global information. It promotes economic prosperity by creating an artistic and cultural destination. Color, lighting and movement can be part of the public art, enhancing public spaces and defining a sense of place.

Eye Zen Presents illuminates and preserves hidden LGBTQ+ histories through interdisciplinary performance, archival activation, and intergenerational exchange. We create immersive public art rooted in place, memory, and accessibility that connects queer elders, artists, and audiences. Our practice pairs hands-on archival preservation with new creative works so that endangered legacies are safeguarded and shared as living culture.

OPEN DOORS NYC invests in the creativity and leadership of Black and brown wheelchair users. 

**Led by the Reality Poets, OPEN DOORS** **NYC** is a collective of disabled artists, nursing home residents, advocates, and allies. We make art, perform, and host workshops, conversations, and events around community-building and disability justice. We are a fiscally sponsored project of the Center for Transformative Action, an independent 501c3 organization.

Cowlitz Co Habitat for Humanity is a 501C3 HOUSING nonprofit organization based in Longview, WA. Serving Cowlitz Co since 2000!  

We are driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, thrive and grow.  Families and individuals in need of a “*hand up*” partner with us to build or improve a place they can call home.  Habitat homeowners help build or repair their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.  Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, *everyone* can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.

We are currently working on our largest development project to build 16 homes at the old KELSO high school site.  We NEED YOUR HELP MORE THAN EVER with the development of this large project!
