We are building a community resource anchored in celebrating the artistic, technical, and societal history of recorded music. Our state-of-the-art facility will be a cultural center, museum, and living archive, with world-class sound reproduction and a full range of musical exhibits, presentations, and discoveries for all ages.

Together with musicians, educators and industry professionals, the Center will take advantage of its Kansas City base to provide musical journeys and incredible audio experiences other institutions cannot replicate in an amazing location for music lovers to gather and share. Across the nation, billions in public and private funds have been allocated to live music performance venues and theaters. The Center for Recorded Music will be the first to focus primarily on the experience of listening to and sharing music on recorded media.

Our organization has local, national, and international interest and support. We are currently in our growth stage -- building membership and interest while our board finds a suitable facility for the Center. This search is currently focused on Downtown or Midtown Kansas City, MO -- benefiting from the city’s rich musical heritage and easily accessible to the entire metropolitan area. Ideally, the property will be between 20,000 and 40,000 sq/ft and will be fully accessible to people of all abilities.
