The Baltimore Tree Trust (BTT) works to improve our local environment by planting in neighborhoods with low canopy coverage, maintaining trees we plant, and providing career pathways for Baltimore City residents focused on environmental work.
Since our founding in 2008, BTT has planted nearly 19,000 trees that significantly mitigate climate change's effects. As these trees mature, their canopy is expected to cover approximately 4.1 million square feet, contributing to Baltimore City's goal of reaching 40% tree canopy cover. Expanding the tree canopy brings many benefits, including cleaner air, reduced urban heat, improved stormwater management, greater biodiversity, and healthier communities.
