Tropical storm Filipo has hit Mozambique from 12 March on, leaving hundreds of thousands of people in urgent need of humanitarian support. The storm, which made landfall in Inhambane province in Mozambique, comes just one year after Cyclone Freddy had ravaged several parts of Mozambique and Malawi, and left millions of people without food, water, or shelter. Consecutive disasters have made it almost impossible for affected communities to recover and rebuild their lives.
At ASEM Vilankulo School and Center, the roofs of one school building, the theatre and the Art atelier had been blown away. Windows and doors damaged by the wind and trees destroyed. Since 2022, ASEM school uses the rooms of the theatre (5) and the Art atelier (1) as classrooms due to lack of school buildings. The children had to stop studying due to the condition of the infrastructures.
We can make it, together, to create a better world for all of us. Since its beginning, ASEM has helped more than 180.000 children at the Centers, with schooling, health care, shelter, psychological support, vocational training and within the community, with different social and psychological support.
