The overall objective is to facilitate and accelerate the flow of capital for meaningful impact. YOUR GIFTS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE KBFUS is a U.S. public charity within the meaning of Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. This means that donors are eligible for a U.S. income tax deduction for their contributions, to the extent permitted by U.S. tax law. HELP US REACH THE $5000 MARK TO WITHDRAW FUNDS While KBF.US enables us to run campaigns very cost effectively in the US, we need to reach a $5000 hurdle to be able to draw any funding raised on the platform. Please assist us by sharing widely! Also, even small monthly donations will help us in many exponential ways, not least of which is to always be able to clear the $5000 minimum distribution threshold. UPCOMING MAJOR PROJECTS - DECEMBER 2022 FOR GIVING TUESDAY 2022, WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR THE FOLLOWING TWO PROJECTS: FIX YOUR SPACE PAARL - $11 000 Transforming a community - one street at a time In South Africa's Western Cape province, a small community named 'Chicago' in the town of Paarl is preparing for their first-ever Fix Your Space event taking place on 9 and 10 December 2022. Call for support Fundraising in South Africa is ongoing. As at 24 November 2022, a total of $11 000 was still needed to successfully implement this project. Below: Community members in Chicago shared ideas on how to create a safer, cleaner, more attractive, more investor-friendly neighbourhood CHRISTMAS MEALS FOR DISPLACED FLOOD VICTIMS - $3300 Make a difference for 1 436 flood victims left homeless The floodwaters that brought devastation to South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province in April 2022 subsided seven months ago. However, hundreds of families are still dealing with the aftermath. This festive season from 9 to 11 December 2022, Ranyaka is joining forces with over 150 NGOs from the Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu (INK) and Umlazi areas to serve Christmas lunches to 1 436 community members still being housed in 12 public community halls in these areas. The Drive also marks the launch of a campaign to raise funds for Back-to-School starter stationery packs and school uniforms for children under 18 housed in these halls.
$8,22 will sponsor a Christmas meal and colddrinks for a family of four
$8,80 will sponsor a basic Back-to-School stationery kit (250 kits needed)
$29,37 will sponsor a bottle of gas for cooking (total of 12 bottles needed)
$7,64 will sponsor a pair of school shoes (250 pairs needed)
$15,86 will sponsor the average school uniform for one child (250 pairs needed)
As at 24 November 2022, a total of $3300 was still required to successfully roll out this project. (This includes meals, cooking gas and stationery kits for 250 children, but excludes uniforms and shoes.) Read the story about Ranyaka's involvement in flood relief efforts supported by the Nedbank Proud of my Town programme and other co-funders and donors here . On 24 April, official reports indicated that over 17 000 households and 121 687 people had been affected by the floods. By end November 2022, hundreds of displaced families are still being housed in community halls. Living conditions are difficult. There is no privacy. Many halls struggle with food shortages. Safe Haven for children

After our return flights back to Thailand were cancelled we joined up with my Aunt's non profit organisation in South Africa, Ranyaka , helping in any way that we could - whether it was to pack and deliver food parcels or make people aware of the dangers of Covid-19. Mid September I was asked if I could take a look at a community centre in the town of Cloetesville, Stellenbosch (Western cape province) to see if there were any repair jobs I could help out with. The centre was once a theatre (the Breughel) and over the years, it has become a multi-functional centre run on a shoestring budget by a team of volunteers from the local community. The structure is sound, but this incredible space with so much potential is in desperate need of a make-over. With your help, I would love to transform, furnish and equip the room where abused women and children are counselled. When I met the centre's chairperson, Lamees de Klerk and trauma counsellor, Magdalene Blankenberg, they shared their stories with me and their hopes for what they want to achieve. The neighbourhood of Cloetesville offers virtually no recreational or training activities for the town's youth. Covid-19 has been hard on most people but there's no doubt the people from poverty stricken areas have had it the worst. Crime went up as jobs were terminated and food became scarce. The Breughel centre has become a place where people can come in and feel safe to use the space in any way they want to benefit the community. Whether it be through cooking, boot camps, dance lessons, training or entertaining, just the vibe of this place is heartwarming. After hearing the story of Magdelene, the child counselor, I was speechless and instantly moved. Her one mission in life is to help children and women who have been abused or neglected. Unfortunately the need is so great that government's social services can't deal with all the cases. Also, kids aren't always comfortable to go to the police or child welfare. They feel safe here. It takes brave people like Magdalene and Lamees to take things into their own hands and create a place where good people can get together and help guide and show others a path to a better future. I have started working on the counseling room that is tucked away in one of the back rooms. We want to create a cosy place where children can come and feel safe to open up to talk about what has happened to them. At the moment our budget is small and just enough for some paint, cladding and new lights, but with a little bit of charity we could fix up the washroom, supply the Counselors with the right tools and make this place a real safe haven where children can start their path of healing.

Transform a street in South Africa

In South Africa's Western Cape province, a small community named 'Chicago' in the town of Paarl is preparing for its first-ever Fix Your Space (street make-over) event taking place on 9 and 10 December, 2022. Ranyaka has been journeying with the community of Chicago for the past 3 years - understanding local challenges, identifying the opportunities and strengths of this marginalised community to co-create a holistic community transformation plan for the area, mobilise and equip project teams to be the drivers of change in their area. Whilst gangsterism, crime, substance abuse, and unemployment levels are high in the area, the members of the Chicago Development Initiative (local project teams) and a multitude of community volunteers are determined to make a positive difference - tackling challenges head-on! We believe that the physical appearance and cleanliness of a space have a tremendous impact on community safety, social cohesion, community morale, and the investability of a place. For this reason, Ranyaka's 'Fix Your Space' programme focuses on giving open spaces a complete facelift - understanding that the impact will be far-reaching. This programme forms part of a broader, holistic community transformation process being rolled out in Chicago, as we believe that isolated projects seldom yield sustainable impact. From imagining a better Chicago - to a total transformation In April 2022, Ranyaka hosted a 'Reimagine Chicago' event where over 300 community members shared their ideas on how to transform one street in their area at an interactive, creative 'reimagine' gathering. The community spoke. We listened. Extensive planning followed in collaboration with the local project team. Fix Your Space Chicago - 9 & 10 December 2022 On 9 and 10 December, volunteers will tackle a section of Springbok Street - one of the main thoroughfares through Chicago that passes by the local primary school. Activities will include: Painting houses and small home-based shops Fixing and installing fencing Installing solar lighting (crime flourishes in dark alleys) Planting trees General cleaning up As at 24 November 2022, based on funds raised to date, the total amount required to complete the project as planned is $11 000. (Scroll down for detailed list.)
