Parents For Public Schools Of San Francisco Inc

The mission of Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco (PPS-SF) is to promote the fundamental value of public education and pursue the success of every public school by sharing knowledge, bridging communities, and strengthening connections between schools and families. Our vision is that all parents and caregivers are valued and respected as partners and advocates, and families and communities act in solidarity across differences to achieve greater equity in schools and student outcomes.

Since 1999, PPS-SF has supported more than 300,000 San Francisco public school children, parents, and families. PPS-SF works with families across racial/ethnic and socioeconomic spectrums and in all corners of San Francisco. Our information and programs are available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

What We Do

Equitable Access
Families have information they need to make informed decisions about their children and schools. We do this through enrollment workshops, information sharing in our networks, and 1:1 support.

Equitable Engagement
Families are advocates and leaders who support their students and are involved in decision-making. PPS-SF Family Clubs build knowledge and community power; Family Leader and Leader Board programs help parents/caregivers grow to be leaders and changemakers in their schools and communities. PPS-SF also hosts workshops and meetings on topics such as restorative justice and social-emotional learning.

Capacity for Equity
Voices and needs of lower income families are elevated; families and SFUSD work together to create more equitable school policies and systems. We collect and synthesize public opinion data to inform policy decisions and work in partnership with SFUSD and community organizations to elevate the voices of families of color, deepen trust, and strengthen allyship.
