The Bub Team and the Fund that they manage have ALWAYS been a huge inspiration to us in our animal welfare work. Bub's message of inclusion and acceptance for ALL creatures rings through in all of their work. Lil BUB’s Big Fund provides access to care for special needs pets nationwide. We work with community leaders, shelters, and rescues nationwide to create special needs focused frameworks. We visit schools to promote kindness and inclusion. Through our work, we share BUB’s message of overcoming adversity and the knowledge that the things that make us different are worthy of being seen and appreciated.

Lil BUB's Big FUND: Protecting the Human Animal Bond

Dear Friends,
We're reaching out to share the story of a brave cat named Gato, who, like many others, needs your help to live a happy and healthy life.

Meet Gato
Gato, a 12-year-old feline, came to us in a dire state, hungry and severely ill due to a painful disease known as feline stomatitis. This condition causes severe inflammation throughout the mouth, making life extremely uncomfortable for our furry friends.

Gato's Journey
Our dedicated shelter veterinarian, Dr. Holly, worked tirelessly, extracting all of Gato's teeth except for her canines and treating her with antibiotics. Gato now requires steroid injections every other month to maintain her health. She spends her days in our Operations Manager's office and her nights in a custom-built kitty house, lovingly constructed by staff.

Today I wanted to share with you a new initiative of the BUB Fund. So many of you have reached out behind the scenes to ask how you can specifically help senior pets.

Our mission, which is very close to our hearts, is to protect the human-animal bond and champion the cause of special needs pets across the nation.

Imagine a world where every pet, regardless of age or ability, is cherished and celebrated. That's the world we're striving to create, and we're excited to share a new campaign that's close to our hearts: Celebrate the Golden Years with Senior Pets.

As pioneers for advocacy and increased awareness around special needs pets, we have witnessed the extraordinary resilience and beauty that lies within each and every animal. 

Our work goes beyond caring for the most vulnerable pets – it's about shifting perceptions, spreading awareness, and fostering a deeper understanding of the value that senior pets bring to our lives.

Senior pets, particularly our wise and wonderful feline friends, often find themselves in need of extra care during their golden years. These treasured companions have shared a lifetime of love and companionship with their human counterparts. Now, it's our turn to give back and ensure their twilight years are filled with comfort, joy, and dignity.
