CHOW’s mission is to support wellness within the food/beverage/hospitality industry and to improve the lives of our community.

Anyone who’s dined in a restaurant has experienced hospitality. From servers and bartenders to dishwashers and chefs, each person working in a restaurant gives their all to make guests feel welcome, cared for and nourished.

Our mission is to return the favor. To care for the people who take such good care of us. To provide a place for restaurant staff to feel supported, heard and appreciated. To facilitate gatherings where we can build meaningful connections with folks who “get it.” To lift each other up so we don’t lose anyone else to suicide, addiction or struggles surrounding mental health.

CHOW was created by individuals in the food and beverage industry to bridge the gap between personal and clinical care. c89.5 is listener-supported public radio, playing uplifting dance music and providing career-connected learning for our students.

c89.5 is a listener-supported, non-commercial radio station owned by the Seattle Public Schools and operated by professional adult staff and students in the electronic media program at Nathan Hale High School. The station is almost entirely self-funded: over 87% of its operating revenue comes from listener donations and local businesses.

Over 150,000 listeners throughout Puget Sound tune to c89.5 every week for a diverse range of music celebrating individual differences and focusing on the joy in life. Give Us The Floor nurtures a safe online peer-led community that supports LGBTQ+ youth in distress in their challenges.

We provide 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in distress with the peer-positive human connection that they are too often missing. We help 2SLGBTQIA+ youth deal with distress through inclusive, innovative and unique Peer Support Chats that provide constant contact and anonymity in a safe youth-only community, breaking the isolation and shame cycles they are experiencing. Trained youth facilitate the confidential groups and participants help each other with prevalent mental health and social issues such as depression, isolation, anxiety, identity, discrimination, bullying, relationships, domestic violence, and body image.


Within the Supportive Group Chats:

- Youth in distress from all backgrounds and geographies have 24/7 access to peer support in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment.
- Members communicate anonymously as often as they wish via closed group chats - no one on one communication is possible
- They share daily life struggles, insights and accomplishments, encourage each other and provide non-judgmental feedback without fear of stigma, taboo or shame
- Groups are organized by age and primary discussion topic to keep the chats relevant and relatable
- Youth who need adult help are quickly identified and given resources to help them.

Research reveals that increased isolation is contributing to the rapid deterioration of mental health and wellbeing. It’s affecting youth way more than adults: Experiencing social isolation and loneliness [during adolescence/ childhood] increased the risk of depression up to 9 years later. *

Some important statistics:
- 50% of LGBTQ youth age 13-17 seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year and 18% of them did attempt suicide:**
- LGBTQ youth of color reported higher rates than their white peers: 12% of white youth attempted suicide compared to 21% of Native / Indigenous youth, 20% of Middle ------- Eastern / Northern African youth, 19% of Black youth, 17% of multiracial youth, 16% of Latinx youth, and 12% of Asian / Pacific Islander youth**
- LGBTQ youth who had access to spaces that affirmed their sexual orientation and gender identity reported lower rates of attempting suicide **
- 60% of LGBTQ youth who wanted mental health support in the past year were not able to access care, including nearly 3 in 5 transgender youth and more than 3 in 5 cisgender youth**

In 2022, 87% of Give Us The Floor participants reported suffering from anxiety, 74% from loneliness, 73% from depression, 54% from self-harm and 59% had suicidal thoughts.

After only 1 month in the program:

- 91% of the participants reported that the group chat had helped with their struggles
- 79% say they are not sure or sure they couldn’t have gotten the help from somewhere else
- 84% reported that the group chat had helped them feel less lonely
- 79% reported that the group chat had improved the way they feel about themselves

- 99% of the participants reported that they feel that their group is a safe place
- 92% reported that they feel comfortable sharing their personal challenges

Duality: The Play

Support and protect LGBTIQ+ people in Europe.

Forbidden Colours collects and raises funds to support initiatives that help LGBTIQ+ people to fully live their lives in freedom with self-respect and dignity in Europe. They are also a leading advocate in exposing anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives in Europe, and therefore conduct extensive advocacy with media, EU-institutions and member states. 

Forbidden Colours is a NPO linked to a fund managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, the major Belgian public benefit foundation, whose mission it is to contribute to a better society. 

We want all LGBTIQ+ persons to be able to get up every morning feeling it is okay to be who they are. We use our extensive network in the European institutions, and in several member states of the EU, to address the backlashes on LGBTIQ+ rights. With our media contacts across the world, we expose anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives. By putting pressure through the media, we were able to put several cases higher on the political agenda.

The organization is considered as one of the most effective organizations to protect LGBTIQ+ rights on the European level. By closely monitoring the geopolitical forces behind state-sponsored anti-LGBTIQ+ campaigns, Forbidden Colours was able to expose several European governments for scapegoating the LGBTIQ+ community as a deception for their anti-democracy campaigns. 

They revealed cases such as the anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law in Hungary, an anti-LGBTIQ+ education reform in Poland and the needs of LGBTIQ+ persons fleeing Russia's war with Ukraine in the international media. With this, Forbidden Colours has gained the attention of the world media and has been featured in amongst others The Guardian, VICE & Sky News. The non-profit has led a campaign aiming to take down Hungary's infamous anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law. After 1,5 year of campaigning by Forbidden Colours, the Hungarian government was taken to the Court of Justice of the European Union. For the first time in the history of the EU, a member state was taken to court on the basis of violations of human dignity and human rights. Forbidden Colours was also able to convince the largest group of member states ever to intervene in a lawsuit against another member state.   

They also help organisations from all over the world to advocate more successfully at the European Union institutions and, for example, also works with local partners on the EU Global Human Rights Sanction Regime. Besides its political advocacy work, Forbidden Colours also works with the corporate world to create a more diverse, equal and inclusive workplace. They give trainings, keynotes and develop projects to raise awareness to the issues of the LGBTIQ+ community within the company. They also develop 'corporate social responsibility'-projects about LGBTIQ+ rights together with the corporate world. This helps companies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

D×P works in Japan to solve the isolation of teenagers who have difficulties.

In Japan, suicide is the number one cause of death among young people and has become a social problem. Japan is the only country among the G7 industrialized nations where suicide is the leading cause of death. The percentage of Japanese young people who are satisfied with themselves or feel that they have advantages is lower than that of young people in other countries. Young people with various difficulties in life, such as poverty, disabilities, and no place at home, have difficulty finding people who understand their situation.
Furthermore, when they reach a crossroads in their lives, such as "career path" or "dropping out of school," the difficulties that are usually hidden from them tend to come to the fore, but it is easy for them to keep them to themselves. It is also easy to conclude that they cannot survive because they do not know about the various jobs and public supports that exist in the world. There are counseling services for bullying and suicide as places to turn to when they are having difficulties, but there are few counseling services for career and employment.The number of registrations and consultations continues to grow, and we currently have 5,900 registered users.
The teenagers D×P supports have difficulties due to a combination of various backgrounds, such as poverty, having disabilities, growing up in a single-parent household, and being bullied.
In Covid 19, there's been an increase in the number of consultations about living in poverty, such as reduced shifts at part-time jobs, parents losing their jobs and not being able to pay school fees, and not having enough to eat. Many of the teenagers work in restaurants or in non-regular employment, so the impact of Covid 19 has been very significant. Therefore, D×P have started to provide emergency support in the form of food aid and cash transfers.
Without a secure foundation, they cannot take the next step such as trying something or thinking about work. After receiving a consultation, the first step is to provide immediate reassurance and ongoing support while building a relationship of trust. D×P is funded by donations from donors. The Warsaw House Foundation's mission is to protect homeless and refugee  LGBTQ+ youth in Poland and provide them with the tools they need to live independently. Our inspiration was the  Ali Forney Center  (AFC)  n NYC, which is largest organization in the world offering support to homeless LGBTQ+ youth. We are honored that Carl Siciliano, the AFC's founder is on the board of the Warsaw House Foundation and works as an advisor. We place extra attention on HIV and STI education, support and prevention with the help of board member Dr. Joanna Kubica and the Smart Life Clinic in Warsaw.  After we took in our first LGBTQ+ youth to house on February 14th, 2023  we have been flooded with calls for housing and support from young people in need.  These are Polish Trans 18 year-olds from the Polish countryside in desperate need to escape their abusive and intolerant homes, young queer people with PTSD and untreated mental illness who need housing and support immediately, LGBTQ+ refugees from Ukraine and several young gay men from Iraq who suffered torture in their homeland, were detained and imprisoned at the Polish/Belarussian border for up to two years, and are now trying to build their lives in Poland.  We are also housing and supporting young LGBTQ+ people from Uganda and Egypt,  We are raising money to support the young people under our care, to house and feed them and pay for their medical needs and courses needed for them to start an independent life,  We are also raising money to hire staff (all of WH's work is now done by volunteers), to continue the renovation of our residential building and for short term emergency rentals.  We have a committed and professional team and a well planned strategy for both emergency and long term care.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!! In 2021 we served nearly 1,900 clients, virtually all from marginalized, underserved, and diverse communities.  In our 30 years serving the needs of Colorado communities, we have trained over 800 therapists to work specifically with these populations.  In 2022, we had our largest and most diverse class ever, preparing our providers to serve the ever-evolving populations of our state. Child and family service agency. With a history dating back to 1799, The Home is the oldest child welfare agency in the nation and one of the largest in New England.

Our mission is to help children and their families build permanent, positive change. Each year, our community-based programs and residences meet the needs of more than 15,000 diverse youngsters and family members. These children are often society’s most vulnerable, victims of trauma, violence or shattered family lives.

As the American Bar Association reveals, Asian elders, especially those from immigrant backgrounds, endure more social isolation and mental health struggles than their peers due to linguistics, financial, and cultural barriers. These factors combined significantly impact the mental and emotional well-being of Asian American older adults in a city where depression and suicide among older adult immigrants are on the rise.

**A Note from Our Founders about Heart of Dinner & Our Evolution from 2020-2024:**

Dear Cherished Supporter,

Thank you for taking a moment to connect with our mission. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our journey with you—a journey born from a deep, instinctive need to care for our Elders. **In March 2020, at the onset of the global pandemic, we leapt into action to support our Asian American elder community, who were facing devastating food insecurity, isolation, and loneliness.**

While many believe the urgency that defined the pandemic has passed, **the reality for our Elders remains critical. Even now, 1 in 3 Asian American older adults live below the poverty line.** These challenges are not new. For decades, this community has been overlooked, its struggles masked by the harmful “model minority” myth, which conceals the deep inequities faced by Asian American Elders. This, combined with language barriers, technology gaps, and economic hardship, means that many continue to lack access to the resources and care they deserve.

Out of a guttural instinct to protect and uplift our Elders, we **transformed our 300 square-foot apartment on the cusp of Chinatown and the Lower East Side into a sanctuary of cultural resonance and care.** We hyperfocused on those in the most critical state, providing emergency food relief and addressing their emotional needs through handwritten notes in their native languages, making sure our Elders felt seen, valued, and dignified.

**These care packages are more than just food—they are a lifeline.** Filled with culturally meaningful lunchboxes and fresh groceries beloved in Asian immigrant households like bok choy, rice, mung beans (and more!), all lovingly bundled inside decorated bags, attached with notes of love & joy that deliver warmth, connection, and belonging.

As our work evolved beyond emergency relief, we **built Heart of Dinner into a nonprofit focused on sustainable care.** Thanks to our incredible community of donors, partners, volunteers, and small team of staff, we have transformed into a **501(c)(3) public charity that continues to nourish and uplift our Elders, week after week.**

By Summer 2024, **we have delivered over 200,000 meals to beloved Elders living in significantly under-resourced and underinvested communities across New York City.** And our work is far from over. The challenges our Elders face didn’t begin with the pandemic, and they certainly won’t end with it. **These hardships are rooted in long-standing societal and governmental neglect, where policies and systems have historically overlooked the needs of this community.**

**Looking forward, we have plans to build Heart of Dinner's own delivery infrastructure with a fleet of electric vehicles, hire a dedicated team of drivers trained in our protocols—which emphasize cultural respect and thoughtful care when serving our Elders—and we aim to increase our care package distribution by 25%.** **These efforts will build upon our ongoing commitment to delivering care packages to our Elders and existing beneficiaries with the same high level of deep care and compassion.**

we.are.village in Berlin is creating new ways that queer communities can connect, transform and heal. For the last eight years, we have operated a unique space for queer masculinities and femininities, transgender, non-binary, genderfluid, intersex and other gender non-conforming people.


Our goal is to help queer people create and embrace healthier, better connected and purposeful lives. We do this by nourishing individual and collective growth through working with the body, mindfulness, artistic expression, consent and a range of self-empowering tools and strategies. In the process, we tackle loneliness, lack of self-esteem, intimacy and addiction issues, dealing with discrimination and other intersectional challenges that limit and impact queer lives.


We have created a diverse and continuously adapting program of weekly and monthly events, community evenings, weekend trips as well as art exhibitions, performances, salon discussions and offerings via our online platform.


Although it was never our focus, we  have become a model for other cities and countries. We regularly host visitors and participants from all over the world and have seen an increase in international interest from individuals, other organizations, activists, artists, politicians or other practitioners wanting to find out more about our innovative model and methodologies.

The Children’s Global Health Fund, Inc., incorporated in 2016 in New York, is a nonprofit charity organization authorized as a tax-exempt entity under the terms of section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Our mission is to save the lives of vulnerable children and families globally by raising funds for and providing support to organizations improving family health in developing countries.
 

The Children’s Global Health Fund’s current development efforts aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of Clínica de Familia La Romana, located in the eastern Dominican Republic. Founded in 1999, Clínica de Familia La Romana is a Dominican non-profit organization aimed at improving the health of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the region by providing high quality health, education, and psycho-social support services. Clínica de Familia has become a national model for HIV, sexually transmitted infection and adolescent health care, in addition to providing comprehensive and holistic care to the broader community, serving approximately 12,000 clients annually. Through their unique, comprehensive approach, Clínica de Familia La Romana has informed new standards of health care and strengthened access to essential services, improving the quality of life of marginalized populations.   Donations and grants to the Children’s Global Health Fund go directly to Clínica de Familia (with a small administrative fee for the Fund) to support and expand their health programs and reach.
 

Based in New York City, the Children’s Global Health Fund engages in fundraising efforts nationwide, and provides a platform for US-based individuals, foundations and corporations to make tax-deductible financial or in-kind contributions to Clínica de Familia La Romana, as the first beneficiary of the Fund. The Fund also supports Clínica de Familia in cultivating sponsorships, partnerships, and service opportunities involving US-based global health programs and supporters. These collaborations produce tangible support for Clínica de Familia, while offering unique experiences, collaborative research opportunities, philanthropic exposure, and other benefits to the partners.

About Alma Institute: 

Our mission is to strengthen and diversify the network of legal psychedelic service providers by offering prioritized enrollment and certification opportunities to people from marginalized communities. We seek to increase benefits and prevent harms by creating pathways to apprenticeship, employment, and ongoing peer support for facilitators in this growing field.

Launching in Oregon in 2023, our social justice-rooted training program practicum to prepare students for licensure under the nation’s first legal psilocybin services program. We seek to raise industry standards so people from all backgrounds can find belonging and thrive in psychedelic work. This requires anchoring in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, feedback, accountability, and meaningful practices of sacred reciprocity. 

We exist so psychedelic healing work can not only be available to our communities, but relevant to our ancestral and lived experiences and impactful for generations to come.

Our Approach:

We hold a strong focus on continued support and skill building for new graduates, and are weaving a culture of engagement, mentorship and accountability into our programming. We will support this by hosting in person and digital integration circles for new and experienced facilitators, supporting networks of student pods to continue learning together, and leading industry-wide conversations about ethical standards and care. 

Oregon ranks among the worst for mental health conditions and is dismal in access to therapy and psychiatric services. The numbers are even worse for people from marginalized social locations. These community members experience higher rates of the very mental health conditions that psilocybin can help address. However, psilocybin is not a cure-all. Wellbeing is systemic and depends on the harmony of a variety of factors. The success of psilocybin services will depend largely on the trust and rapport established between client and facilitator, the client's sense of safety and belonging, the environment in which services occur, and importantly, the follow-up care and support provided.

As in talk therapy, it is critical that patients have the option of working with someone who has shared identifiers and can relate to their lived experience. This is especially important when working with racial and gender-based trauma and deep healing processes. 

Additionally, the lasting benefits of psilocybin will rely on external factors, such as access to healthcare, safe and consistent housing, healthy food, community support, and gainful employment. It is essential that individuals working in this new industry understand and are engaged with the intersectional approach to wellbeing and community health; if they don't, the industry will be peddling a short-term band-aid solution, with service sites overwhelmed by high-paying experience seekers and fail to deliver on the promises of lasting change and healing promoted by the Psilocybin Services Act. 

Alma Institute seeks to bring a deeper inquiry to psychedelic therapies and help raise standards for the field at large. If we are successful, we can shift the conversation from one laser focused on mental health, to one about the historical roots of our suffering and the systemic shifts needed for collective healing.

At the heart of our community, libraries provide a place where everyone can learn, create, study and explore. Mrs. Ruth Kampa – a former librarian and President of the Library Commission — embraced this with her strong passion for the Library. In 1987, Ruth had the foresight to setup the San José Public Library Foundation (SJPLF) so that the Library could receive more than just public funding. In 1992, Ruth passed away and because of her bequest the Foundation was able to hire its first paid staff member. According to the original board members, “that was the tipping point that really put the Foundation in business.” The Foundation has changed and grown over the years but Ruth’s legacy to raise funds for our San José libraries still continues today.

Neuromatch enables more people to participate in scientific research by overcoming barriers in the form of education, social networks, and accessibility of science communication. 

Specifically, we find innovative new ways to allow collaborative access in these areas by enabling groups of scientists to work together to make these platforms as public goods that can scale up to be used by many. 

Our Academy provides live instruction, open source education that is contributed to by hundreds of researchers to provide always affordable education to people around the world. We are active in 15 different countries and teach undergraduate and PhD level science in 20 different languages. 

Our Community program creates online-first scientific conferences and community events that focus on human interaction, allowing us to leverage the equitable nature of online work without significant sacrifices in the networking and connection aspect of these events. 

The NMDA program provides researchers with real on the job experience in internships, job matching, and career guidance. 

Our large buy in to these communities we serve provides us the ability to conquer problems in science dependent on large network effects, such as issues in academic publishing, job matching, and large research collaborations.
