The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based, non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy, based in Quezon City, Philippines.

PAWS also runs an animal shelter for over 300 cats and dogs rescued from cruelty or neglect. There, animals are rehabilitated in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.



There is also a low-cost clinic that provides veterinary services to the indigent community, including spay and neuter (kapon).

With a singular focus on increasing the naturalization rate in Massachusetts and beyond, Project Citizenship transforms the lives and futures of immigrants in the U.S.!  Our free legal services have enabled over 10,000 permanent residents to achieve U.S. citizenship since 2014.  By accepting the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, our new citizens achieve expanded opportunities, greater economic stability, family reunification, a voice in our democracy, and a deeper sense of belonging in this country.  We all benefit when immigrant groups are not isolated but are full participants in our social and civic life, creating more cohesive communities.

Project Citizenship focuses on those who would not be able to naturalize without assistance through the complex and lengthy process. We coach, we encourage, we inform, and we advocate for each client with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS) - from application to Oath of Allegiance.  We submit requests for waivers of the USCIS application fee and for special consideration for clients who are older or who have a disability. The Project Citizenship community includes over 1,000 attorney volunteers and many local organizations who partner with us. Our clients have a remarkable 95% success rate in achieving citizenship.  Our work is at the intersection of economic vitality, civic engagement, and social justice.

A joint project between VIVO Alliance and Integro Foundation to advocate for victims' rights. 

Background:
The Victims' Rights Advocacy & Accountability Project was inspired by Karla Hernandez-Rosario's exhausting legal battle for justice after she was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted in December, 2020. Her plea for basic human rights was overtly denied by continuous roadblocks in the Puerto Rican justice system, which unequivocally favors the perpetrators of such heinous crimes. It's been nearly two years since her horrific ordeal, and yet no progress has been made to incriminate her assailant. After consulting with several legal professionals, multiple assault victims faced with similar challenges, as well as many non-profit organizations battling the scourge of gender/sexual violence, Karla and her husband came to the conclusion that the problem is indeed systemic. In Puerto Rico, victims of crime such as gender violence and sexual assault have no constitutional rights in the criminal proceedings against their offenders. It is common knowledge that the Puerto Rico Criminal Justice System, for decades, has shown callous disregard toward victims of these types of crimes in their fruitless pleas for justice, leaving them to suffer relentless personal, emotional, and financial wounds.

Vision of Project:
To rectify the severe imbalance between the rights of criminal defendants against the absent rights of victims, VIVO Alliance must raise the necessary funding to collaborate with a team of legal and research professionals, whom Karla and her husband, Gerald, have connected with on their own personal battle for legal justice. These professionals, along with the help of the University of PR, shall implement a work-study program for students from the UPR Legal and Journalism departments. Together, they shall harvest critical information to create an in-depth, on-demand database that clearly defines the severe imbalance of Puerto Rico's legal justice

Forbidden Colours collects and raises funds to support initiatives that help LGBTIQ+ people to fully live their lives in freedom with self-respect and dignity in Europe. They are also a leading advocate in exposing anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives in Europe, and therefore conduct extensive advocacy with media, EU-institutions and member states. 

Forbidden Colours is a NPO linked to a fund managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, the major Belgian public benefit foundation, whose mission it is to contribute to a better society. 

We want all LGBTIQ+ persons to be able to get up every morning feeling it is okay to be who they are. We use our extensive network in the European institutions, and in several member states of the EU, to address the backlashes on LGBTIQ+ rights. With our media contacts across the world, we expose anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives. By putting pressure through the media, we were able to put several cases higher on the political agenda.

The organization is considered as one of the most effective organizations to protect LGBTIQ+ rights on the European level. By closely monitoring the geopolitical forces behind state-sponsored anti-LGBTIQ+ campaigns, Forbidden Colours was able to expose several European governments for scapegoating the LGBTIQ+ community as a deception for their anti-democracy campaigns. 

They revealed cases such as the anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law in Hungary, an anti-LGBTIQ+ education reform in Poland and the needs of LGBTIQ+ persons fleeing Russia's war with Ukraine in the international media. With this, Forbidden Colours has gained the attention of the world media and has been featured in amongst others The Guardian, VICE & Sky News. The non-profit has led a campaign aiming to take down Hungary's infamous anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law. After 1,5 year of campaigning by Forbidden Colours, the Hungarian government was taken to the Court of Justice of the European Union. For the first time in the history of the EU, a member state was taken to court on the basis of violations of human dignity and human rights. Forbidden Colours was also able to convince the largest group of member states ever to intervene in a lawsuit against another member state.   

They also help organisations from all over the world to advocate more successfully at the European Union institutions and, for example, also works with local partners on the EU Global Human Rights Sanction Regime. Besides its political advocacy work, Forbidden Colours also works with the corporate world to create a more diverse, equal and inclusive workplace. They give trainings, keynotes and develop projects to raise awareness to the issues of the LGBTIQ+ community within the company. They also develop 'corporate social responsibility'-projects about LGBTIQ+ rights together with the corporate world. This helps companies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit advocacy organization and legal service provider. 

S.T.O.P. litigates and advocates for privacy, working to abolish local governments’ systems of mass surveillance. Justice Nest is a newly registered charity (MARCH 2024). The founder is an experienced Kenyan advocate who has worked in the non-profit for over 17 years focusing on child rights, women's right, human rights and access to Justice. While working in the system, she witnessed the effect of the justice system on families and has decided to step in to prevent further family disintegration by the justice system.

Justice Nest is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable families and individuals in Kenya. We aim to protect and restore families in contact with the justice system, focusing on women, children, and prisoners. Justice Nest is a family-centered, holistic justice non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring families in contact with the justice system.  **Our mission is to transform the justice system and strengthen families by promoting policies and practices that reduce reliance on incarceration.** We provide legal education, holistic representation and advocate for community-based alternatives to prosecution through partnerships. We advocate for restorative and holistic justice, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the support and resources they need to thrive. We envision a society where the justice system prioritizes the well-being of families, actively interrupting the cycle of family disintegration and preventing the pipeline to prison.

At Justice Nest, we recognize the complexity of the justice system and its role in perpetuating family disintegration and poverty. Our **Mother and Children Restorative justice program** aim to address the root causes that lead women and children into conflict with the law, such as poverty, trauma, and lack of familial support. By working closely with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the judiciary, we advocate for alternatives to prosecution and provide pathways for rehabilitation and reintegration.

Our **Prison paralegal program** seeks to bridge the justice gap.  Access to legal representation is a fundamental right, yet many prisoners in Kenya face significant barriers in obtaining adequate legal assistance. 90% of those in prison do not have access to legal services. To put it in perspective, with a prison population of over 55,000, about 50,000 of those barely have hope that they will leave the system. This problem is multifaceted and involves issues of availability, affordability, and systemic inefficiencies. There is no office of public defenders in Kenya to meet the demand at the state level. A majority of lawyers are based in urban areas, making it difficult for prisoners in rural regions to access legal help. "*The ratio of lawyers to the population in Kenya is alarmingly low, especially in rural areas where legal services are almost non-existent.*" - Law Society of Kenya

PROGRAMS:
Aspen Colombia's main program "Leading Colombia 2050" (LC2050) is now in its third cohort, with around 24 fellows each. In 2024, with the support of our partner Colfuturo, Aspen Colombia will conduct three more cohorts of the program. LC2050 consists of Socratic method-led seminars to discuss the question of how to build a better Colombia. The program also includes field visits to different realities in order to bring participants closer to the country´s challenges and to leaders and organizations succeeding at building a better society. Additionally, Aspen Colombia gathers leaders from specific areas to discuss pressing issues in Socrates Seminars. The last one was hosted in Medellin, Colombia around the question: Can Democracies fix Democracy? 
Although Aspen Colombia is an emerging organization, it has already summoned some of Colombia´s most impactful leaders, and LC2050 has begun to show results in the initiatives that fellows are spearheading.

CANVAS (Center for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies) was founded in 2005 by Slobodan Djinovic and Srdja Popovic to advocate for the use of nonviolent resistance in the promotion of human rights and democracy. Since then, they have worked with pro-democracy activists from more than 50 countries. From CANVAS' headquarters in Belgrade, Serbia, they operate a network of international trainers and consultants with expertise in building and running successful non-violent movements. Their work is focused to build more just, democratic, and responsible society. CANVAS’ offices in Washington DC, Tbilisi, Manila Johannesburg and Belgrade aim to provide maximum support to the activists on the ground, and they serve as a hub for local and regional initiatives that rely on principals of nonviolent struggle and creative activism. Their organization disseminates knowledge through a variety of media, including workshops, books, videos, and specialized courses and all for free. CANVAS has produced several publications on nonviolent resistance over the years, based on intensive research and our members’ decades of experience in the field. The International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) began in 1914 as a response to the needs of women and girls immigrating from Europe and East Asia in adjusting to their new lives in Los Angeles.  Our founding was part of the larger revolutionary vision of a social welfare worker named Edith Terry Bremer, who established the first International Institute in New York in 1910. The **International Institute movement** was unique for its time in its philosophy and approach to this work. It **embraced cultural pluralism by celebrating ethnic diversity** and encouraging immigrants to maintain their native languages, traditions and folk cultures, while also becoming engaged US citizens who contribute to their communities. 

**IILA has played a prominent role in every major refugee and immigrant wave since its founding.** For over a century, we have offered a wide range of services to assist limited-English proficient and low-income individuals achieve self-sufficiency and thrive. Over time, we also **expanded our services** to include a wide array of legal assistance, resettlement of refugees and asylum applicants, survivors of human trafficking, and free or low-cost child care and transportation. We employ over 150 people in 13 locations in Los Angeles County and have a budget of over 20 million dollars. We also have a long history of employing newcomers, who serve as valuable team members who can provide culturally sensitive assistance to those in need.

Our **commitment to upholding the dignity and supporting the self-sufficiency of refugees and immigrants** is as unwavering today as it was at our founding.  We know that new arrivals bring a vibrancy and richness, as well as economic strength, to Southern California and the wider United States that is vital for our continued growth and success.

Progress Ireland is an independent think tank dedicated to connecting Ireland to best-in-class policy from around the world. 

Progress Ireland originated from conversations between Sean Keyes and Fergus McCullough in the summer of 2023. Sean was finance editor at The Currency, Fergus McCullough was Editor of the Fitzwilliam, a journal of ideas.



As writers and analysts, Sean and Fergus observed that there was a missing voice in the Irish conversation. There was nobody talking about policy for policy’s sake.

There were government funded organisations whose job it was to test policies, and government funded organisations whose job it was to broker policy bargains between interest groups. But there was no organisation whose specific aim was to research international best practice in policy making, and educate the Irish public on best in class policy. 



Fergus and Sean were soon joined by Sean O’Neill McPartlin and Luke Fehily. Sean O’Neill McPartlin had founded an organisation called the Better Planning Alliance, which researched and promoted housing policies that had a track record of success overseas. Luke Fehily had worked as a research scientist and was frustrated by Ireland’s approach to science and innovation policy.



Sean, Sean, Fergus and Luke formed Progress Ireland to create an independent, politically unaligned, and credible voice on matters of policy in Ireland. The mission is to link Ireland up with international best practice in policy making. 



To achieve its mission, Progress Ireland will have one foot in the global world of policy ideas and experimentation; and one foot in the reality of Irish institutions, laws, and needs. Progress Ireland will look internationally to find evidence-based policy solutions, tailor those policies to the Irish legal and institutional context, and publish the findings of our research in the public square.



Progress Ireland’s goal is no less than for Ireland to have the highest living standards in the world. This lofty goal is achievable. Ireland’s economy is exceptionally strong. Its political system is stable and relatively unpolarised. What’s missing are processes and ideas to turn Ireland’s wealth into concrete policy outcomes, such as, broadly affordable housing, high quality public infrastructure or an innovative university sector.



Since its foundation last summer, the Progress Ireland team has been on a mission to build out its organisation, sign a high-calibre advisory board, find mission-aligned funding, and invest in its policy proposals.



Over the next six months, Progress Ireland will be preparing for its launch. It will live or die solely on the quality of its ideas. So it is investing significant resources and energy into the substance of its policy platform. It is linking up with experts in Europe, the USA, Australia and New Zealand. It is preparing detailed financial models, and speaking to Irish stakeholders about the barriers and obstacles to implementing policy in Ireland.



The next step will be to turn these inputs into outputs. It will produce reports and briefing documents for a variety of stakeholders.



Having produced its “big ideas”, Progress Ireland’s next task will be to introduce them to the public square. Its first job will be to communicate what Progress Ireland is and what it stands for: independence, rigour, and ambition.



Progress Ireland will host a series of events with journalists, subject matter experts and stakeholders. It will produce videos, tweet threads, TikToks and Reels. It will write reports that are persuasive and that are detail-oriented.



In a year’s time, Project Ireland will have succeeded if a broader menu of policies are part of the conversation than is currently the case. If the Irish public square has been enriched by useful, important, and evidence-based policy ideas. It will be successful if educational policy workshops are attended by important SMs e.g. ESRI wonks, there's a measurable increase in the time-frames over which policy is optimised, and ideas feature in other independent reports.

The NPDF membership exceeds over 200,000 members and supporters worldwide. The basic mission statement of the National Police Defense Foundation is to “Protect & Support” the efforts of law enforcement. This is being accomplished through the important medical and legal support services provided the national law enforcement community, as well as  everal NPDF law enforcement programs involving public safety and child safety programs.

The “[Operation Kids](https://www.npdf1.org/operation-kids/ "Operation Kids")” program is a multi-faceted NPDF child safety program that (1) distributes free child fingerprint/DNA kits to parents (2) sponsors youth athletic events (3) posts periodic rewards on missing and kidnapped children (4) issues annual scholarships (5) funds Project Pedophile  and (6) arranges lifesaving operations and medical treatment for critically ill children worldwide.

**“[Safe Cop](https://www.npdf1.org/safe-cop/ "Safe Cop")”** is nationally renowned for posting up to a $10,000 cash reward for public information that results in the arrest and conviction of anyone who shoots a member law enforcement officer, anywhere in the United States. The Safe Cop program was also expanded to provide critical medical care and psychological counseling to disabled law enforcement personnel worldwide.

**Save A K-9 Officer Program** This newest “Safe Cop” law enforcement initiative addresses the serious increase of armed assaults on K9 police dogs by donations bullet proof vests to law enforcement agencies. This program is administered and funded by the NPDF Deputy Sheriffs & Peace Officers Coalition.

**Project Pedophile** The NPDF “Operation Kids” program was established “Project Pedophile” in order to address the serious increase of pedophile activity on the internet that has been victimizing our children. The program will reward any child with a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond for information that leads to the federal arrest and conviction of any pedophile operating on the internet.

Iconic Houses provides a worldwide platform for architecturally significant modern houses and artists' homes and studios from the 20th century that are open to the public, by sharing best practices about the conservation, policy, programming and management of house museums and significant private houses. At this time over 50 of the world's most iconic modern houses, especially those from the second half of 20th century, are threatened due a lack of legal protection, deferred maintenance or other issues associated with development pressures. We need to act now, or risk losing them forever. What can be done to save them? Icons at Risk sets out to answer that question.  "Icons at Risk" is an international initiative by the Iconic Houses network to preserve the world's most endangered modern houses of unique architectural importance. We will achieve this by raising public awareness, advocacy, and supporting homeowners to take action themselves through a "Toolkit for Owners of Modern Homes". The Clean Slate Initiative works to expand and automate the sealing of arrest and conviction records after people have completed their sentence and remained crime-free for a period of time - believing everyone should have a shot at redemption.   

We are a national, bipartisan non-profit organization that builds advocacy campaigns where local, state, and national partners operate with the shared goal of passing Clean Slate laws in states and in Congress.

Through partnerships, collaboration, and coordinated advocacy campaigns, the Clean Slate Initiative unites businesses, advocates, community members, and impacted people across the country.

We support state-based campaigns with the goal of passing laws that ensure conviction and non-conviction records are automatically sealed once someone has completed their sentence and remained crime-free for a period of time. 

The Clean Slate Initiative supports campaigns that have clear goals, well-thought-out strategies, and a vision for building a base of support that can defend and sustain policy wins.

Since this initiative’s inception, we have helped pass legislation that provides a path for: 

- 2.3 million people to have at least one conviction or non-conviction cleared;

- 7.3 million conviction and non-conviction cases to be cleared; and

- 2 million people to receive full record clearance.

You may wonder - why is there a need for Clean Slate Initiatives? Here are the facts: 

1 in 3 adults in the United States have an arrest or conviction record that limits their ability to work, obtain housing, and engage in civic life. Having a record, even an arrest record, is a significant barrier to economic mobility. 

- 9 in 10 employers use background checks when hiring.

- 4 in 5 landlords use background checks on prospective tenants.

- 3 in 5 colleges and universities use background checks on prospective students.

There are more than 44,000 collateral consequences that limit the ability of people with a record to access meaningful opportunities to build a better life. Our work focuses on automating the process to remove those barriers, providing a real second chance for the millions who are currently impacted by an arrest or conviction record. 





The Clean Slate Initiative

MWH supports all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, & human trafficking and provides outreach & prevention programs.

For nearly fifty years, Middle Way House has been providing services to people in crisis. Today, Middle Way House provides empowering services such as emergency shelter; a 24-hour help and crisis line; on-scene advocacy; support services; and transitional and permanent housing solutions to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Middle Way House also touches the lives of community members through our outreach education and prevention programs. Middle Way House serves the following six counties throughout south-central Indiana: Monroe, Greene, Lawrence, Owen, Morgan, and Martin counties. 

At Middle Way House, we believe that acts of domestic and sexual violence, and our society’s tolerance of them, are expressions of deeply rooted oppression in our culture. Consequently, Middle Way House cannot hope to end violence without doing the hard work of changing the culture, addressing gaps in legislation and enforcement pertinent to crimes of relationship and sexual violence, and demanding equity in our social and economic arrangements.

Therefore, Middle Way House will facilitate the participation of its staff members in community-based study and advocacy groups, commissions, councils, projects and activities designed to promote inclusion, equality, and a secure and peaceful community. In its internal operations, Middle Way House will strive to be a model of the transformation it envisions in the larger community.

Therefore, Middle Way House staff and volunteers are non-judgmental in their interactions with victims/survivors.

Middle Way House believes that appropriate services for victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking can only be provided on a free and confidential basis.

Therefore, there will be no charge for services of any kind. Staff and volunteers will maintain information in the strictest confidence. Agreements between staff and clients to release information will be specific with regard to content, recipient, and duration as well as easily rescindable. Staff will strive to minimize requests for information that are intrusive and irrelevant to health and safety.

Middle Way House believes that the decision to seek help and the very fact of survival are indicators of courage and strength.

Therefore, staff and volunteers work from a strengths-based perspective, helping those who seek Middle Way House’s assistance to identify, believe in, and use their abilities to meet the needs they have identified. Middle Way House staff and volunteers will not assume they know what is best for the individuals they are serving; they will provide the best information and resources they have to support survivor’s efforts to make informed decisions. Staff members will act to support individuals only as their support is requested.

Middle Way House believes that acts of relationship and sexual violence are about perpetrators’ need for/belief in their right to power and control over others.

Therefore, Middle Way House staff will work to create and maintain environments free of violence-in any form.  All rules and requirements governing the behavior of those who access Middle Way House services will be necessary to the maintenance of safe and sanitary conditions.  Middle Way House staff and volunteers will be mindful of the need to be respectful and empowering in all communications with the people who seek our services as well as with each other.  The power inherent in staff and volunteer positions will be acknowledged and appropriate boundaries maintained.  So far as possible, decision-making will be by consensus and based on careful analysis of information provided by all those with a legitimate interest in the outcome of the decision-making process.

Marshall ROC -  Restoring Our Community  is a coalition of community organizations, funders, and government agencies bound together by the common interest: Helping our neighbors, particularly those who are most in need, recover from the Devastating Marshall Fire & Windstorms which destroyed over 1000K homes.  

Marshall ROC is led by its members, who are a dedicated community of volunteers and organizations, in collaboration with government representatives. Many organizations in the surrounding communities offered their help after the Marshall Fire. Coordinating these efforts is challenging, but important. Marshall ROC is structured as a Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG), which is a nationally recognized, tried-and-true method for coordinating limited money, muscle, and materials among multiple organizations, on behalf of individuals and communities impacted by disaster. The Marshall ROC Mission is to support and empower individuals and households affected by the Marshall Fire and windstorm to lead their own recoveries by identifying needs and coordinating assistance on their behalf

The mission of Marshall ROC is to support and empower individuals and households affected by the Marshall Fire and windstorm to lead their own recoveries by identifying needs and coordinating assistance on their behalf. Marshall ROC is a collaborative coalition of existing agencies and all Marshall ROC related services will be provided without regard to race, creed, color, gender, disability, religious or political affiliation, documentation status, or sexual orientation. 

Disasters are, by their nature, overwhelming. If it wasn’t overwhelming, we’d call it an “inconvenience,” not a “disaster.” The Marshall Fire and Windstorm is overwhelming. Our neighbors lost hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property and belongings. So many individuals and organizations have rallied to help and it is inspiring to see how engaged and supportive the communities responding to this disaster have been. However, it is now clear the need is greater than the available resources. Marshall ROC and its members will work to help as many people as possible, while managing community expectations.
One of the most important efforts of Marshall ROC is the launch and opening of the Marshall Fire Recovery Center, which is a centralized Louisville, CO location dedicated to expediting the access and delivery of disaster related support, services and resources to fire survivors in Superior, Louisville and Unincorporated Boulder County as they navigate the complexity of their recovery. The Marshall Fire Recovery Center will house the Marshall ROC office and provide spaces for mental health, rebuilding and technical programs, and the network of professionals who are all helping to support the impacted community as well as to facilitate coordination and collaboration among local, national and governmental organizations. The Navigating Disaster for Boulder County program, operated by Lutheran Family Services – Rocky Mountains, will also be located at the Center. 
The Marshall ROC Marshall Fire Recovery Center is a testament to the power of community and our coalition of organizations. We / Marshall ROC felt it was important the financing of this Marshall Fire Recovery Center effort should be separate from donations previously collected so as to not detract from funds raised for the direct support of fire families, and we’re exceedingly grateful to the many organizations who have contributed so far to  help us launch the Recovery Center and effort:

We aim to provide patient-centered programs for medically underserved communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Our first pain management hub (PMH) in sub-Sahara Africa is located at the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH) - the flagship tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria. Advocacy and public health policy reforms is a key area of focus for the foundation, hence the venture into rapid point of care SCD testing for new-born in low resource regions. 



Amoke embarked on a project to supply equipment and distribute a tried and tested drug intervention covering three regions of the country.

-	Transcranial doppler (TDC) machines - by partnering with Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), a stroke prevention programme covering three states (Ondo, Ekiti & Kogi) began. Upon the acquisition of the TCD machine during the year click here - sonography training for physicians and technicians commenced and a research program is currently being designed. The project made some traction during the year and it remains a free service benefiting 5 states in the region. Initial results were promising, and the necessary therapy commenced for high-risk patients.

-	Hydroxyurea - our aim to drive best practice to halt progression of the debilitating effect of SCD. Its use is shown to reduce the vaso-occlusive crises, stroke, infections, malaria, transfusions, and death in children with SCD. AF has provided Hydroxy FOC for patients at  the PMH @ UCH and the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH).

AF will focus on the following areas in 2024.

-       A pilot SCD screening exercise was conducted in Nov for children at a local orphanage with an encouraging outcome. The plan is to expand the exercise and explore more cost-effective options in the future.

-	Direct Fundraising - AF has identified a couple of our patients who will benefit from urgent hip replacement surgeries due to complications from SCD referred to medically as Avascular Necrosis. The request for medical assistance.

-	Implementation Research - Amoke is engaged in evaluating the implementation strategies used to improve the uptake and sustainability of SCD prevention programs in SCD. The aim is to improve understanding in how to scale up and evaluate new and existing programs and use them to overcome barriers to treatment and prevention of vaso-occlusive crisis in SCD patients. The challenge is to ensure that patients who could benefit from these outcomes,  actually receive them.

W&FLC Programs Include:
Guided Assistance Program (GAP) - GAP provides personalized support and referrals for women and families facing difficult life challenges. The Center’s Referral Navigators work to directly connect participants to community resources spanning crisis services, social services, mental health, financial and legal services. Through GAP, a participant learns how to outline her personal or family needs and to create an action plan. GAP is a unique service, not offered at any other organization on the Shoreline, providing services to anyone regardless of income from any of the following 16 towns that we serve:  Branford, Chester, Clinton, Deep River, East Haven, East Lyme, Essex, Guilford, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, North Branford, North Haven, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook. 

Financial Consults -  Meet individually with a volunteer Financial Coach who will work with you to set up an action plan to resolve a financial situation you are in to empower yourself to make better financial decisions and take control of your economic independence and success.

Appointments are available via phone or by video via Zoom to meet one-on-one with an attorney to discuss your legal questions with regard to a civil, divorce, custody or other legal matters and to better understand your rights and the legal process.

If you are a person without access to a phone or computer or are living in a home where you fear your computer/phone use is being monitored you can come to the W&FLC and use a computer and phone. In addition to a secure location to keep documents for future use.

Founded in August 2008, HRAPF uses the law as an entry point to contribute to a better legal and policy environment for LGBTI persons and other marginalised groups. What we do
HRAPF has five major goals (outcome areas)

1. Sustained access to justice for marginalised persons and key populations
HRAPF champions equality and non-discrimination for marginalised persons and key populations by promoting and facilitating access to justice. A team of lawyers and a network of paralegals is always on standby to respond to emerging cases in order to redress violations that marginalised persons and key populations continue to face. We engage law enforcement agencies on violations of rights of our constituencies and document all violations and initiate interventions that seek to hold perpetrators of these violations accountable. We support the training and facilitation of community paralegals across the country and all our target constituencies to continue providing legal aid services through their structures.

2. Development of knowledge and jurisprudence for the promotion and protection of human rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations
We continue to be a key leader in the generation of knowledge on various dimensions of human rights of marginalised persons and key populations. Having merged some components of access to justice and research and advocacy, HRAPF is set to build a Centre for Law and Marginalisation to champion research and strategic litigation and provide robust legal solutions to violations of rights of marginalised groups and key populations.

3. Inclusive laws and policies promoting and protecting rights and the well-being of marginalised persons and key populations
We speak out and amplify the voices of marginalised persons and KPs in policy and legal development processes as well as challenge discriminatory practices and systemic and institutionalised marginalisation through advocacy and influencing strategies. We create, nurture, and or strengthen partnerships on the one hand with national bodies that are concerned with human rights. Through these partnerships, we will seek to influence the agenda on non-discrimination and equality at district, national, regional (East African and Continental) and international levels.

4. Transformed knowledge, skills and attitudes of marginalised persons and KPs and duty bearers leading to the promotion, respect and protection of the human rights of marginalised persons and Key populations
We consolidate all empowerment and capacity-building efforts through organising and conducting issue-based human rights training workshops and meetings targeting marginalised persons, key populations ((LGBTI persons; sex workers; women, girls and service providers in conflict with abortion laws; drug users; people living with HIV and; refugees) and duty bearers (police officers, media, judicial officers (specifically magistrates), parents, local leaders and health providers as well as state prosecutors and prison warders) to champion non - discrimination and reduce the marginalisation of key populations.

5. Strong and sustainable human rights organisation
HRAPF continues to strengthen its operational efficiency and financial independence buttressed by effective governance, sustainability, prudent risk management, internal development and a clear staffing structure that suits the organisation for sustainability, transparency, accountability, effectiveness and efficiency in delivering on our mandate.

Major Strategies
HRAPF’s five outcome areas are achieved through the following major strategies:

1)	Legal aid service provision: HRAPF facilitates access to justice in respect of violations of the rights of LGBTI persons and other marginalised persons and key Populations and health service providers through legal representation, mobile legal aid camps, alternative dispute resolution/mediation, community paralegals and documenting violations of the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations.

2)	Advocacy and influencing: HRAPF challenges laws, policies, regulations, guidelines and practices that curtail and violate the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations and proposes other possibilities. We also advocate for the integration of human rights in policies, laws, operational guidelines, frameworks and regulations and the application of constitutional values and principles and the rights-based approaches in the implementation of services. We do this through dialogues, public education, coalition building, and engaging with national, regional and international human rights spaces and mechanisms.

3)	Building and Strengthening Capacities: Using legal and human rights frameworks, HRAPF develops human rights awareness, promotion and advocacy capacities of CBO’s, NGOs and networks of marginalised persons and Key Populations groups and NGOs working on human rights issues. HRAPF also develops the capacities of duty bearers (including: political leaders, law and policy makers and implementers, law enforcement officers, judicial officers, local councils, families and communities and health service providers), prison warders on the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations and their duties in the promotion and safeguarding these rights. We build capacities of rights holders, duty bearers, communities and key stakeholders to enable them pursue greater rights for marginalised persons and Key Populations. We do this through: training, tailor-made technical support, internships and mentorship, and legal awareness outreach sessions.

4)	Knowledge Development: HRAPF invests itself in expanding the pool of knowledge and encouraging debate through regularly undertaking legal analyses, simplifying and translating and disseminating knowledge resources such as: laws, policies and bills; position papers; human rights violations reports; research and baselines.

5)	Strategic Litigation: HRAPF challenges laws, practices and actions that violate the rights of marginalised persons and Key populations through the filing of cases before courts of law and tribunals. These are reinforced through research and documentation of human rights thereby enriching jurisprudence for the rights of a marginalised persons and key populations.

6)	Partnership Development: Nurturing and participating in strategic partnerships at the national, sub-regional, Pan African and global levels for the strengthening of the rights-based approaches and utilisation of legal and human rights mechanisms. This we do through coalitions and alliances, lobby meetings, engaging at regional and international human rights mechanisms and strategic interest litigation at national, EAC sub-regional and Pan-African regional levels.

7)	Programme Support: Building a sustainable organization that operates in an effective, efficient, professional and accountable manner. This we do through: prudent corporate governance; attracting and retaining a competent staff team; robust monitoring, evaluation and learning; resource mobilisation and risk management.

**Utthan's journey began in 1981**, when four women chose to work in the desolate Bhal region of Gujarat, helping marginalized communities to self-organise around critical livelihood issues. **It is a grassroots-based institution with a mission to empower women and young girls by providing them with the perspective, resources and tools they need to amplify their voice, gain access & control over productive resources, entitlements & services, and take control of their bodily autonomy.** To create systemic change and drive sustainable impact, Utthan also facilitates partnerships and synergies with various stakeholders and engages in evidence-based advocacy and policy dialogue while continuously taking up its own organisational development.  

**The Challenge being addressed**: Women and young girls face significantly disproportionate challenges due to social, economic, political & environmental marginalization. This creates overlapping & interdependent systems of oppression, discrimination & disadvantage. The **adverse impacts of poverty, hunger, resourceless-ness, violence & climate change on women and girls are most acute**. As a result, their voices are more than often ignored & silenced and their needs neglected. This adversely impacts their ability to take decisions at individual, household, community or societal level. This inequity is perpetuated in society & associated structures, as a whole. Any development or growth therefore remains inequitable, incomplete & unsustainable. 

**Path to address the impacts on women and young girls**: Utthan works on **building their agency** at individual, household, community & societal level through **enabling control over assets, body & voice**. This in turn enables them to shape their own destinies and provides them the confidence to partake in the **creation of a more just & equitable society**.

Prioritising community-based & community-led transformation has been pivotal in building a critical mass of local leaders; amongst women, men & youth. Utthan's practice areas are very much aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals & are demonstrative of grounded & women-led action to address women's human rights which are deeply intertwined with security, climate change, biodiversity, water security, resource distribution & governance issues. Presently, Utthan **directly** impacts the lives of over 8.5 lakh individuals in six districts of the western state of Gujarat in India. It aspires to scale this positive influence to at least 25 lakh individuals by 2027.

We support young immigrant and refugee women (ages 16-24) in NYC with free legal aid, holistic services, and community events. 

The Brave House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit supporting young immigrant & refugee women, ages 16-24, in New York City, with a focus on survivors of gender-based violence. We provide free legal aid, community events, and holistic services within a container of joy, friendship, and resilience. This includes leadership training, employment and school assistance, support for new moms, mentorship opportunities, wellness events, and much more.

Our 250+ members collectively come from over 30 countries and span the 5 boroughs of NYC and Long Island. Many are fleeing gender-based violence and seeking protection in the United States. At our core, we provide advocacy to fight for the rights and happiness of each of our members.

We are the first and only non-profit in New York City to work exclusively with young immigrant women. We aim to be a one-stop-shop for this population, helping create a world where all women thrive, lead, and belong.

DC KinCare Alliance supports the legal, financial and related service needs of relatives who raise DC children in times of crisis.

Fueled by high rates of parental incarceration, gun violence, addiction, and mental health problems, some 9,000 DC children live in homes with “relative caregivers.” DC KinCare Alliance is the only organization focused solely on serving these caregivers, who rise to the occasion when parents are not able. They often live at the margins of economic stability yet face an uphill battle in a system designed for traditional families, one that expects relatives to step in without aid. A team of lawyers works to support them (usually grandmothers; often disabled themselves), offering free legal representation and education, as well as assistance with obtaining identification and advocacy in acquiring effective health and mental health care, financial supports, and other services for the whole family. The only organization in DC focused on this population, DC KinCare Alliance helps those who have opened their homes and hearts to children in need.

Mosaic Georgia: a 24/7 Children's Advocacy & Sexual Assault Center for people who experienced sexual assault, abuse & exploitation

Mosaic Georgia has discreetly served over 20,000 kids and adults who experienced sexual violence, exploitation, trafficking, child sexual abuse, and similar crimes.  It began as a volunteer rape crisis center in 1986. In 1993, became the first nonprofit, community-based sexual assault center in Georgia to provide forensic medical exams and patient advocacy outside the hospital setting.

Mosaic represents our focus to help people put the pieces of their lives back together with dignity and discretion.  We offer a mosaic of services and coordinate with several agencies and organizations with a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach. We follow the Children’s Advocacy Center model to centralize the community response in effort to minimize trauma and stress on the person who may have experienced sexualized violence.  Also reduces the number of times the victim is asked to recount their experience.

Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for 3 of the largest civil legal aid providers in WI.

WEJF promotes the availability and public awareness of the need for free legal services to low-income individuals and families in Wisconsin, secures resources for providers of such services, and distributes resources to tax-exempt nonprofit organizations that provide such services. The three organizations for which we raise funds – Legal Action of Wisconsin, Judicare Legal Aid, and Disability Rights Wisconsin – provide pro bono civil legal aid services to economically disadvantaged residents and people with disabilities across the state in a wide range of practice areas including domestic violence, housing, bankruptcy, unemployment, employment, tribal, veterans, and disability law.
