In low-income settings, chronic poverty deprives young children of adequate nurturing care necessary to thrive. Furthermore, it is estimated that more than half of children globally are not enrolled in pre-primary education and are homebound. This combination results in young children suffering deep learning inequalities and loss of potential, extending into later life. To address this challenge, HOPE worldwide has developed and implements a 'Caregiver Learning Through Play' (CLTP) model. CLTP will be enhanced and scaled to seven partner countries providing at least 500,000 caregivers and an estimated 650,000 children with the knowledge and skills to facilitate Responsive Parenting and Play-based Learning in the home environment. This will be achieved using national and community advocacy, group sessions, play hubs, messaging, and technology. Intended outcomes include improved knowledge, attitudes, and practice around responsive and playful parenting; reduced stress and social isolation; and improved child development.
