While building Every.org I chatted with Chris Blattman, a UChicago poverty/conflict researcher who designed READI Chicago, which provides men prone to commit gun violence with jobs, therapy and opportunity.

It's a high-leverage intervention - a small number of people are responsible for most gun violence, so helping them greatly benefits their communities. With the firepower of his research, the clarity of its impact, and the growing scale of the project, it's my way of helping make Chicago, my brother's home, even greater than it already is.

I'm giving to the Heartland Alliance because of Omar's note describing the research-driven impact it's having on poverty and gun violence in Chicago and his conversation with researcher Chris Blattman to learn about it!
