The Forager School
The Forager School is a play-based preschool for based on the Sonoma and Mendocino coast.
The Forager School fills a critical childcare gap in our rural coastline community from Stewarts Point to Point Arena, California. The natural world is our biggest source of inspiration, and our curriculum incorporates art projects, field trips, books, games, and imaginative play.
50% of our applicants have sought financial assistance and we are committed to meeting the needs of working families.

Join the Karnick-Wells Family: Support the Forager School!
Finding childcare was one of the hardest things we confronted when we moved up to the Mendocino Coast full-time. We (and especially Elias) are incredibly glad to have found the Forager School, a nonprofit preschool in downtown Gualala that opened last fall for children ages 2-5. With the Forager School's classroom now at full capacity (with a waiting list!), we are raising funds to expand the campus and programs to better serve the families in our coastal community. We are hosting a fundraiser for the school at the Sea Ranch Lodge on Thursday, October 17 (5-9 p.m.), and we're hoping a few members of our friends and family would be willing to join us in supporting the school. With every new family we met we would say: “We’re starting a preschool!” Curiosity and hope sparked the beginning of The Forager School. After a year of running a parent-led co-op, we teamed up with friends to bring this dream to life - The Forager School is now a vital part of our community.
