Wayanad area in Kerala was hit by massive landslides in the early hours of July 30,2024 that caused hundreds of deaths and still people are trapped under debris. This is the most devastating disasters in the history of Kerala. More than 300 people died and more number of people missing. Rescue work is under way and search is on for survivors. The Kerala government and many NGOs are on the affected sites undertaking relief and rescue operations. The national disaster team and the army are taking massive efforts to save the trapped people under trying conditions. The south west monsoon is still active and heavy rain has hampered the rescue mission. People who are alive in the affected areas have lost their homes and their belongings all of a sudden. They are made to stay in temporary relief camps. There are thousands of people rendered homeless overnight and their survival is a miracle. There are a number of children who have lost their parents to the nature's fury. Houses, schools and shops were buried under mud slush and boulders caused by the landslides and floods. Death happened in their sleep and within a flash life finished and many lives lost to the fury. Now the Relief efforts are picking up momentum and heling hand is extended from all quarters. Our organization DOVE is one of the NGOs who have sent relief materials at the earliest. We are still in need of Relief essentials to hand over to the affected victims in the land slides. Relief things including emergency food ,shelter, clothing , bedding, medicines ,hygienic items and other items as needed. The kind donors may send their donation to Development of Village Education(DOVE) an Ngo in the southern part of India who have access and logistics support to help the survivors in the disaster of this magnitude in Kerala. We thank your generosity to lend a helping hand at times of this massive tragedy.
