The Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic was founded in 1938 as the first clinic dedicated to the care of children with a cleft lip and/or palate in the world. Today we are the only independent and approved craniofacial care center in the United States. As a not-for-profit organization, we never turn away a child for care.

We work with patients from infancy until "graduation" in young adulthood with a fully functional face and smile. Our patients can experience up to 20 surgeries to reach full functionality, as well as years of speech therapy, audiology, dental, and orthodontic care, among other specialties. We established the current worldwide standard of care through a team approach when patients and their families are able to meet with up to 13 different medical, dental, and allied health care providers in one visit. All Clinic care providers next meet together and prepare a tailored and coordinated care plan that they help implement.

Utilizing our expertise in coordinated dental care, we additionally care for children with special health care needs such as severe dental disease, behavioral issues, autism, and other conditions requiring a board certified pediatric dentist.
