For more than 20 years, Batang (Children in Visaya) Mekong has been working in the Inayawan garbage dump area where a majority of the inhabitants still work as ragpickers, sorting waste in the storage warehouses that dot the area.

The aim of the project is to accompany the families towards a better life. Batang Mekong acts on different levels to give families the means to move forward with the care and education of young children in the preschool and the professional and spiritual training of the parents.

Today, Batang Mekong runs 9 preschools that accomodate 106 children, 5 days a week.

Thanks to these preschools children develop in good conditions by providing them with an environment conducive to a healthy daily life. These good developmental conditions cover several aspects of the children’s lives: feeding, health and safety, hygiene, and playing and learning.

Support the preschools in Inayawan landfill, the Philippines

In Vietnam, the pursuit of **higher education is often a dream** veiled in uncertainty for countless ambitious students. Children of the Mekong endeavours to transform these dreams into tangible realities, empowering every sponsored young person to obtain a diploma and secure a job that mirrors their talents.

This project aims to **support 350 students in their pursuit of a university degree.** We want to ensure that all of Children of the Mekong’s sponsored children in Vietnam have access to the financing of their studies without interruption and **allow them to concentrate calmly on their studies.** This project will also allow for the personalisation in support for each student as it is a key factor for effective relay of sponsorship.

**Student support for one year is $860.** This includes:

- University fees
- Daily food
- Accommodation
- Holistic training provided by Children of the Mekong

**Project: Construction of a Study Hub for street children**

In the busy streets of Cebu, poverty is depriving countless children of their right to an education and a better future.

The aim of this project is to provide a safe haven and stimulating environment for street children, fostering their academic growth and personal development. By establishing a dedicated study center, we aim to create a space where these children can thrive academically, learn essential hygiene practices and experience the joys of childhood exploration. **Our initiative begins with 30 beneficiaries in Cebu**, and we're expanding our reach to provide a transformative educational experience for these deserving children.

The project is run by Children of the Mekong and the SNAF - Santo Niño de Cebú Augustinian Social Development Foundation.

Since 1996, Children of the Mekong supports children’s education in the Philippines, sponsoring 3,700 children, running 4 education centers & 162 sponsorship programmes.
