Battery Foundation (aka Battery Powered)

Battery Powered is the philanthropy program of the Battery, a social club in San Francisco.
We activate the generosity of individuals, moving philanthropic resources off the sidelines and quickly into communities for impact. Our organization supports three themes annually, each theme selected by the Battery Powered community to respond to some of society’s most pressing issues, such as homelessness, ocean conservation and mental health. Battery Powered moves resources into communities of need; donor contributions are put into communities within 12 months. These assets take the form of collective grants, which facilitate more impactful contributions from our donors to these issues. We emphasize educating members on each topic throughout the grants process to equip them to enact intelligent change beyond their engagement with Battery Powered.
