Gaza Mobile Health Clinics Initiative
Gaza's healthcare system is on the verge of collapse due to relentless conflict that has decimated critical infrastructure, leaving over almost 60% of health facilities non-functional. Hospitals have been destroyed, clinics have been rendered inoperative, and supply chains for medical resources have been severely disrupted. With nearly 2.2 million people left without access to basic healthcare, the situation has escalated into a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scale.
In conflicts, indirect deaths - those caused by outbreaks, chronic diseases and poor healthcare - often far outnumber deaths caused by trauma, by 3 to 15 times. Based on historical data, it's possible that up to 750,000 indirect deaths, around one-third of Gaza's population, could result from this current crisis.
However, with early and comprehensive care, alongside essential preventative public health measures, over 500,000 lives can be saved. This highlights how important it is to act early and focus on preventing these avoidable deaths through basic health services and care.
Taawon’s Mobile Health Clinic initiative is a life-changing project designed to bring essential medical services directly to underserved communities in Palestine. Many people in remote and marginalized areas have little or no access to healthcare due to transportation barriers, economic challenges, and a shortage of nearby medical facilities. Taawon's Mobile Health Clinic is equipped to provide preventive care, diagnostics, maternal and child health services, and emergency support to those who need it most.
The pilot phase will deploy three types of mobile units, each designed for seamless integration into Gaza's existing health system across the four implementing partner organizations.
