Since 1989, SORBA has worked to create, enhance, and preserve great mountain experiences in the Southeastern United States.

Since 1989, The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) has worked to ensure that our public lands offer fun, challenging and sustainable mountain biking for all mountain bikers. As the leading mountain biking organization in the southeast, we believe everyone should have access to the social, physical, and mental benefits that mountain biking provides.

Through advocacy, education and resource sharing, SORBA and its forty-seven chapters envision a future where mountain biking is at the center of healthy, economically vibrant, and environmentally sustainable communities throughout the Southeast, with well-planned, accessible, and progressive trail systems.

SORBA relies on our generous members to carry out our mission. Our volunteers donate thousands of hours each year to advocate for trail access, raise funds for trail development, build trails, and maintain trails.

SORBA and its Chapters are 501c organizations. SORBA has chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. All contributions are tax deductible.

**SORBA is making an exciting move in 2024, and we need the support of our entire community of mountain bikers and trail users to help make this happen!**

Since 2007, SORBA has relied on IMBA to manage our membership. Due to SORBA’s growth, and some changes from IMBA, we are taking this opportunity to manage membership on our own and provide closer support to our local chapters. **This means more of your membership dollars will stay in your region, strengthening local chapters and increasing autonomy.**

From investing in a new membership system to hiring a membership management employee, this shift will cost SORBA an estimated $125,000. **In order to keep membership dues affordable and to keep chapter dollars supporting the trails, we need your help raising the necessary funds.**

We know you value the work our chapters do on a local level, and we all want to keep the chapters’ funding focused on trails. **By supporting this regional initiative, you are helping secure the future of mountain biking across the Southeast.**

Root for the Future: Better Support for Local Chapters

Join SORBA and our Georgia Chapters in raising money for Hurricane Helene Relief Trail Work Funds with the Freehub Magazine Mountain Bike Film Festival!

We invite mountain bikers from across the state of Georgia and beyond to join us for a fun day of riding to raise money to support trail work in places affected by recent storms. All donations will go towards hosting multiple SORBA Trail Rally workdays to support our chapters as they rebuild the trails we all love to ride. This event is free to attend, and we will be accepting donations towards our Trail Rally fund. Come out and enjoy a great Saturday and support trails!

SORBA began in 1989 as a way to connect a few hard-working chapters in Georgia 35 years ago. The need for a unified voice and support for chapters became more apparent as mountain biking continued to grow and thrive. Today, we support 47 chapters across 7 states in the Southeast. **That's a lot of community transformation, tons of social connections and countless moments of pure trail bliss experienced by riders each and every day.**
