We are network organization for responding disaster and coordinate all stakeholders to support affected people by disasters.

**COORDINATION:**

We coordinate all stakeholders' response efforts to make sure that we can reduces duplication of aids and provide aids according to needs. We can supports facilitate the communication of stakeholders and support civil society to have relevant information in timely manner.

Responding the earthquake of *Noto peninsula* in Japan occurred on 1st of January 2024, we send assessment teams to the affected area on the next day. We have been supporting NGOs and CSOs, providing updated information and working as communication hub with local governments and other stakeholders.

**PREPAREDNESS:**

We support to connect people, NGOs/CSOs, foundation, academia, governments and all other stakeholders to prepare future disaster trough convening meetings and
facilitating discussion.

We also provide the training for disaster coordinators who can work for local intermediate organizations during disaster. We also publish guidelines for coordination in disaster to enhance better understanding of all stakeholders.

**COMMUNICATION:**

We value the good communication among stakeholders. We have regular/irregular
meetings with stakeholders on better collaboration and preparedness for the
disaster. We also hold Annual Conference every year. At the 7th Conference in
2023, we had more than 400 participants from various sectors.

At 4:10 pm on the 1st of January, an earthquake with Magnitude 7.6, which was the largest earthquake ever recorded in this region, occurred on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. The tremor caused tsunami and damages including the collapse of many buildings and upheaval and cracks on the road. It led to the delays in extinguishing the fires amid water outages and the risk of a tsunami.

Even after 3 weeks after the earthquke hit, we have seen that there are still problems with roads and water supply, as well as a shortage of evacuation center operators and food provision issues, which are contributing factors to the ongoing emergency response efforts. On the other hand, the prefecture has begun to disseminate information about recovery efforts, such as plans for construction of temporary housing.

We, JVOAD send assessment teams to the affected area on the next day of the earthquake. We have been supporting NGOs and CSOs, providing updated information and working as communication hub with local governments and other stakeholders.
Our partner NGOs and CSOs have been dedicated to help affected people by delivering emergency food, hot meals and waters, providing medical supports, helping children and so on. As only coordination organization in Japan, we will continue to support NGOs and CSOs and also to connect them to other stakeholders, such as private sectors and local goverments.
