GBRC Disaster Resilience Campaign: Strengthening Minds, Rebuilding Lives
Disasters don’t just leave physical devastation—they leave lasting emotional wounds. At the Grand Bahama Resilience Center (GBRC), we believe that mental health support is a critical part of disaster recovery. Our Disaster Resilience Campaign is dedicated to equipping individuals, families, and communities with the tools they need to cope, heal, and rebuild after climate-related crises.
Our Plan:
✅ Provide immediate psychological first aid and crisis counseling after disasters.
✅ Train local leaders and volunteers in disaster mental health response.
✅ Offer long-term counseling and resilience programs for affected individuals.
✅Conduct research on the psychological impact of climate-related disasters in the Caribbean, filling the gap in disaster response by focusing on mental health, an often overlooked area in traditional relief efforts.
✅ Develop evidence-based interventions that address the long-term trauma survivors experience, and ensure that mental health support is ongoing throughout the recovery process.
✅ Integrate mental health into disaster preparedness and response plans.
