My sister battled the last 5 years with conjunctiva melanoma and just died at age 51. She had multiple eye surgeries when first being diagnosed which was from a normal eye exam that started it all. She had the cancer controlled and lived her fullest until a year ago they found metastatic spots on her lungs and then a few months later it metastasized to her brain. She was being tested to possibly be accepted into a clinical trial at the MD Anderson but was declined after they found it had metastasized further to her liver, adrenals, spine, and more in her lungs. She was placed on hospice in May, 2024 and battled the symptoms of her cancer until yesterday. She and her husband have 2 teenagers, age 15 and 13. Speaking on behalf of her family we would love to see advancements in treatment options and to be able to help the next person diagnosed hence the reason for donating.

ACIS educates the public about ocular melanoma, treatment options, and clinical trials that may improve a patient’s prognosis, making it less overwhelming.

ACIS is dedicated to ongoing research. We know we can accelerate viable research projects that otherwise would stall and not be completed, missing opportunities to advance research for effective treatments and possibly a cure.
