The Allen Institute for AI (AI2) is a leader in the field of AI, and our mission is to contribute to humanity through high-impact AI research, engineering, and applied technologies. Transparency, accessibility, and collaboration are at the core of our work. As a nonprofit organization, we are able to take on research endeavors that universities can’t and private corporations won’t.

Partners In Health is a social justice organization that responds to the moral imperative to provide high-quality health care globally to those who need it most. We strive to ease suffering by providing a comprehensive model of care that includes access to food, transportation, housing, and other key components of healing. We bring the benefits of modern medicine to those who have suffered from the overt and subtle injustices of the world, in the past and in the present. We refuse to accept that any life is worth less than another.

Our mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. By establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations based in settings of poverty, Partners In Health strives to achieve two overarching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair.

We draw on the resources of the world’s leading medical and academic institutions and on the lived experience of the world’s poorest and sickest communities. At its root, our mission is both medical and moral. It is based on solidarity, rather than charity alone.

When our patients are ill and have no access to care, our team of health professionals, scholars, and activists will do whatever it takes to make them well—just as we would do if a member of our own families or we ourselves were ill.

Our Core Beliefs:
-    All human lives have the same value, and every human being has the inalienable right to be healthy to fulfill their potential.
-    The right to health is not the only right held by our patients. Other fundamental human rights are interrelated and just as inalienable.
-    All people need to stand in solidarity with those who find themselves at the margins of modern society.
-    The playing field needs to be leveled for those individuals who are born at a disadvantage (equity vs equality).
-    Injustice is not accidental but a direct result of structural violence and oppression. We can fight injustice by changing those dynamics.
-    It is our moral call to action to expose social injustice and to work toward correcting those systemic forces that create inequalities, no matter how impossible or challenging this task might look.

With more than 130 million girls out of school today, here’s how we’re breaking down barriers that hold girls back.

Through our Education Champion Network, we invest in local educators and advocates — the people who best understand girls in their communities — in regions where the most girls are missing out on secondary school.

We advocate — at local, national and international levels — for resources and policy changes needed to give all girls a secondary education. The girls we serve have high goals for themselves — and we have high expectations for leaders who can help them.

We believe girls should speak for themselves and tell leaders what they need to learn and achieve their potential. We amplify girls’ voices and share their stories through Assembly, our digital publication and newsletter.

Together, we multiply the number of girls in school and accelerate their path to livelihoods and leadership.

CAMFED supports girls in government primary and secondary schools across Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi to access school, succeed, and become leaders of change in their communities.

Last Mile Health saves lives in the world's most remote communities. Our vision is a health worker for everyone, everywhere.

Nearly nine million people around the world die each year from preventable causes, simply because of where they live. This inequity—shaped by global systems designed by those who hold power and privilege—is especially acute in rural and remote communities, where an estimated two billion people live beyond the reach of the health system.

We partner with governments to build strong community health systems that equip professionalized community health workers to provide essential, primary healthcare to the world’s most remote communities.

Studies have shown that professional community health workers reduce child mortality, improve maternal health outcomes, and provide essential surveillance and response during disease outbreaks. They are also highly cost-effective, with up to a 10:1 return on investment.

Over the next five years (July 2023–June 2028), Last Mile Health will deepen our impact in four to six community health systems and influence community health financing—all in service of ensuring that more people can equitably access quality healthcare. We will work with the governments of Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, and Sierra Leone (with the potential to scale to one to two additional countries in Africa) to improve community health systems. In parallel, we will influence community health funding, practice, and policy across Africa to improve how up to $2 billion in sustainable funding is invested in community health as part of Africa Frontline First.
